i know they are - they will probably put Newcastle to the sword on Saturday and the last games will be a dog fight for points between Norwich and Sunderland! Personally i think Sunderland will be safe before our game, as i cant see Norwich getting anything from Arsenal or United. If Norwich fail to beat us i reckon they will be relegated before the last game of the season. So our Sunderland home match will have nothing on it and we can all relax and watch the free flowing attacking football we know the team and manager prefer.

Forgive me if I appear rude. I ignore most of your posts as they appear complete rubbish to me. But just for once I think you are 100% right. It won't happen and that's a real shame

Palace are safe. No chance of going down. I reckon Norwich and Newcastle will go down with Villa

  7. wfcmoog

I still think we need at least a point to be safe

Agreed - by my calculations I make it 1.2395 points needed.

I think that if we draw then Villa fail to win then we're pretty much safe, based on goal difference, though yes, strictly speaking we need 2 more wins to be mathematically safe, unless results for our way.

I can't believe you're so laid back mate. No less than 5 wins from our remaining 4 games will be enough IMHO!!!

I have this nagging feeling that all of the clubs below us will win all of their games which basically means we have to beat Liverpool by four clear goals just to be certain.

I know this was clearly sign-posted as a sarcastic comment, but I find it difficult to read any of your posts as anything other than completely straight-laced.

I know this is going to disappoint some posters but .... it's official, until August we are on the beach.

If we won today, I think it was mathematically certain survival, providing Villa lost.

Not sure if we're safe but still won't really relax until we pass the magic 50 points.

Big Sam will probably make some kind of "they won't be bothered" comment before we play Norwich...

    (and he'd be right..)

    10pts and we'd be 16th, 20 and I think we'd still finish above Villa

If we do badly next season are we still allowed to 'carry over' excess points from this season or have they stopped that rule now ?

  24. It could well be that we relegate Norwich and Sunderland in consecutive games. Norwich lose at home to Man U; Newcastle beat Villa; Sunderland draw at home with Chelsea.
    17: Newcastle p37 36pts
    18: Sunderland p36 33 pts
    19 Norwich p 36 31pts

Wednesday Sunderland beat Everton at home, we beat or draw with Norwich, Norwich are down.

Last day both Sunderland and Newcastle are on 36 pts, Sunderland better GD, Newcastle have Tottenham at home.

An amazing scenario would be Spurs beating Chelsea tonight, Leicester fluffing it v Everton, and everything coming down to 3 games on Sunday: Chelsea v Leicester, Newcastle v Tottenham, Watford v Sunderland.

Despite being safe, wfc have a massive say in the relegation fight. We play Sunderland on the last day, if we lose, there is a possibility (albeit very remote) that it could send Crystal Palace back to the Championship. Whilst it would disappoint to finish the season with a loss, seeing CP go down would partly compensate.

More importantly, if Ighalo, Deeney, Doyley, Nyom and Capoue leave, do we lose our ACON bonus points?

Sunderland has a game in hand so it's mathematically possible, just unlikely as all hell since Newcastle's GD is 15 lower than Palace.

If Palace lose both of their remaining games, Newcastle win both of theirs and Sunderland win all three, a 15 goal swing between Newcastle and Palace would send Palace down.

Alternatively, if Sunderland and Norwich both win all three of their games and Palace lose both of theirs, they are also down.

In other words, not going to happen short of the most incredible collapse of all time.

Newcastle are to all intents and purposes out of reach of Palace anyway because the teams' respective goal differences. But it's certainly true that if both Sunderland and Norwich win their remaining three games (unlikely but not beyond the realms of possibility, given Norwich have already beaten Man U at their place, and the other five between them are winnable) and Palace lose their last two, they will be relegated.

Sorry, I mean how would it compensate? Are Palace our rivals now?

Norwich losing - if Newcastle score they will have to win both their 2 games to stand any chance..

If Newcastle win, can we relegate them? That would be fun.

Remember when loads of journos thought Norwich would stay up ahead of us and Muff, because they 'had PL experience', despite the fact the players with PL experience were the same ones who weren't good enough for the PL the last time around and got relegated.
