Pretty much the exact point I was making. Would prefer if he spent more time playmaking and less time floating, mind.

Already discussed how his assists (and an arguably offside tap in to round off a 6-0 win) can be misinterpreted. Jurado would have been more effective, of course. But yeah, he was fine, nothing more or less

 

I don’t really understand this ‘misinterpreted’ line if you’re not saying they were easy?

And just yesterday you admitted he got into good positions to make his assists. That’s playmaking no? But you wanted him to do more of that even though he did more of it than any other player in our squad?

 

His xA stats were high as well, so it wasn't as if he were hitting and hoping. Jurado could have been effective in the Prem, but he was misused, at least when playing Zinckernagel out of position he looked somewhat effective

 

I notice he played on the left.

 

Zinkernagel and Bong defending the same flank was a bit of recipe for disaster. Zink aint exactly the best defensively and Bong is constantly a million miles out of position.

Bringing him on with 10 to go seemed an odd choice to bring. You know what he is good at and what he isn't. He is not the person you want on when Cov are going to be trying to get something from the game with 10 to go.

 

That's fair but he did come on away to Blackburn, Preston and Norwich last season and helped us over the line.

 

We didn't have Bong playing for us.

Do assists against Bradford not count? He got 5 in 900 minutes for us last season and has 2 in 65 minutes for Forest already. This agenda against him is bizarre, probably because he lost a 50/50 against Rotherham and people decided he couldn't hack English football.

 

Yet Dele-Bashiru didn’t stand out against similar opposition last season in the same competition and we have had a few people on here claiming he’s a PL squad option earlier this summer.

I agree that 2 assists tonight doesn’t strengthen either sides (of the argument cause) - but I do wonder what it would take?

Not one person is saying he’d 100% be brilliant in the PL. But a number of people are saying he’s not good enough. It’s a strange agenda based on a small sample size and it’s not really backed up statistically in that respect either.

 

Not saying it’s a majority. Far from it. But go through threads from this summer and there have been some (of a more ‘positive’ persuasion) who definitely suggested he was worthy of being an option.

Lord, we still have people who talk TDB up on the back of a good 25 mins from one game yet say Zinckernagel was rubbish.

 

I have nothing against him. I don’t believe he would have done well for this season. Hopefully he does well for Forest and comes back a decent player. There is no agenda. Assists count against anybody might just be easier against Bradford than against Brighton. I got an assist vs Flackwell Heath 30 years ago, didn’t make me able to do it 3 divisions up from that level

I haven’t seen anywhere near enough of Dele-Bashiru to say he’s good enough for the Premier League but did see more of Zinc and don’t think he is good enough. Maybe I’m wrong but I do think this loan makes sense for us and him

Says the hypocrite who has come from a thread moaning about me not being a fan of certain players and voicing my opinion about it, straight into another thread to slag off Zinckernagel and talk about how he's not good enough and it's only a lower level team "ffs". Hilarious.

 

He'll do very very well in easy games where his side are dominating possession and he has space to operate in. Perfect for cup games against lower league opposition, and the cannon fodder you'll often get in the lower half of the Championship. He won't get many games like that in the PL

You’re not a fan of most. I’m also not having a pop at Zinc, I just don’t believe he’s at the level required this season. You pretty much bad mouth all new signings and current players. Please point out where I’ve slagged Zinc off.

 

What position did he play?
I personally believe he would of done alright in his preferred wide option but he's never going to shift Sarr.

 

You've done exactly what you've moaned about me doing. You've said Zinckernagel isn't good enough and that he's only doing it against lower level opposition. I don't think Femenia is good enough and have only really see him perform to a high level consistently against now lower level opposition. You've come from a thread effectively moaning about me doing exactly the same as what you've just done. It's brilliantly ironic.

I've already pointed out to you that I even made a point last season to praise Femenia for his performances at that level, yet I "just hate and slag off every player", I also noted that in the transfer window grading thread I went for a B-, but I "hate every new signing", and I mentioned that there were players like Sierralta and Pedro, amongst others, for which I'm full of praise for and very positive about, but you're going out of your way to ignore that because it doesn't fit this idiotic, ignorant "you hate everyone" bulls**t.

Personally I am pleased he is doing well at Forest. Hopefully he will get 35+ games for Forest, creates and scores goals. If he does he will be a better player for us or will attract a offer we can’t refuse. Forest won’t be able to afford him.

 

I’d be far happier with this outlook if we had midfield creativity in abundance. As it stands we have an unknown quantity in that respect with Louza and Quina and that’s it (a 34yr old from Slovakia who has just been relegated is a stretch IMO). That shouldn’t fill any of us with confidence!

Letting a proven creator go before replacing him seems madness to me, even if his creativity is yet to be proved at the top level.

 

Two very good assists to be fair

 

Having slept on Kucka, and having seen him vs Palace, he could be a good signing, but he's more of a box to box player, not a truly creative one, certainly don't think Zinckernagel is the messiah, but he'd have been a fine squad option!
