Odds on next Watford manager

He didn't really play a holding midfielder at Napoli did he? I thought it was more two midfielders in the middle of a 3-5-2 balancing defence and attack (all the more reason to hope that Valon stays) with Hamsik playing a free role - maybe this is where Abdi will finally come in handy? (There are question marks about his all-round ability at this level, but I'd have faith in him to do a better job in this position than Jur@do or Guedioura.)

im not 100% sure on how exactly it worked, thats just an overview of what it said on wikipedia. However i do agree abdi would do a good job in the middle of midfield not on the wing, playing jurado and abdi on the wings was ridiculous had no width at all. Sounds to me that he likes quick counter attacking football so my option would be stick abdi in the middle as he has lack of pace then have two quick wingers either side. As for jurado i would take a loss and get rid or ship him off to Udinese or Granada. Not too sure why we signed him in the first place when abdi is better than him in most departments.

 

If Abdi and to some extent Jurado are still playing next season then I can't see us being any better than when QSF was in charge. Its better players we need to take us to this next level or whatever it is the Pozzos call it.

More attacking than 3 5 2

 

I'm really optimistic about Mazzarri, but curious as to whether he will persist with 3-5-2/3-4-3 or go with 4 at the back instead.

Given the fact we have full backs at the club who would need to be moved on (Holebas, Nyom, Paredes. I don't put Anya in that list as he's a Wingback/Winger naturally) and the fact Hoban is being seemingly billed by the club as a Left back, you wonder how this would work.

 

Holebas imo would be a terrific wing back

Nyom I would rather tuck in and be one of the 3 at the back, actually think he could do well there

 

I can't see any problem here. Holebas has previously expressed a desire to leave and even if the new manager makes him happier to stay he could effectively carry out the wing back role. Anya certainly has the energy and would be better as a wingback. Nyom is not consistent enough to be a starting player. Paredes is a very poor Premier player and needs to be shipped out. Hoban would be more than adequate cover for the three central defenders along with Angella..
