Pellegrini spotted at Euston station today near the Watford trains. Swansea keeping their manager for another year. I expect a big announcement after the 19 May

Daily Mail reporting we are "ready to appoint Walter Mazzarri as manager".

It's going to be Mazzarri I think. It's being reported everywhere now.

    Very smart appointment if true.

Well as a start point his wiki page isn't too shabby win percentage of 40 % including 2 seasons that were lower at the beginning whilst he was learning , plays an attacking brand of football, could be zola mk 2 in which case we will be entertained .

Some Italian friends have mixed opinions , he isn't working so no compo, reckon this could happen

At 17.30 he probably was on his way to Upton Park, to look over his new team Man Utd

  9. Behrami played under him at Napoli - hope he stays and we get to sing his somg next year.

Does he speak English? If not, this may well bother me.

I read somewhere that he has been living in England recently and was a possible for the Swansea job....doesn't mean to say he speaks English, but it might be significant. It was reckoned by some that QSF was lined up for the WFC role if we got promotion, months before he took the job.

Mazzarri would be a pretty exciting replacement. His Napoli team was full of attacking flair and achieved some impressive results before it was split up and Cavanni & Lavezzi sold.

Also we could use 'Do you Remember Walter?' by the Kinks as his song, which would be nice.

Nah, we are White Stripes-less at the moment, so it'll be 'ohhh Walter Mazzarri'.

The tactics in the premier league are generally cyclical, with teams often copying the most successful ones.

I have a feeling that teams will buy more defensive minded full backs, and look to break at speed to exploit the vulnerabilities caused by teams pushing full backs high up the pitch. Just like Leicester.

I'm not sure whether a 352 would be good against this, as the overlap is it's great weakness, or whether it would be poor against the fast breaks and diagonal runs whilst the wing backs are high up the pitch. Probably the latter.

Ok, here's my wishlist of who I would potentially like to see as head coach - probably unrealistic however it's nice to dream.

    - Gianpiero Gasperini (Genoa) - A disciple of Bielsa - likes to play 3-4-3 with high tempo pressing and attacking.

    - Marcello Gallardo (River Plate) - huge emphasis on ball possession and lots of attacking - currently mid table after 14 games.

    - Roger Schmidt (Bayer Leverkusen) - His team launch quick attacks, pressuring opponents with or without the ball, but it’s the combined intensity and pressing that makes it so difficult for opponents. I've seen Leverkusen play on BT Sport and they are good to watch however they're in the Champions League next year.

    - Lucien Favre (Borussia Monchengladbach) - Meticulous and detailed, his preference is for counter-attacking football, prioritising defence. But his side attacks and presses with speed and precision - qualified for the Europa League next season, so no chance but it'd be nice to dream. Seen them a few times on BT Sport, well organised but carry a threat.

Add in to that Martin Schmidt from Mainz. Very good tactically, hugely passionate and his last 2 predecessors have gone on to manage Dortmund. Took over in Feb last year and helped Mainz finished 11th. Now they're 5th with a decent chance of finishing in the Europa positions (providing Schalke don't beat Hoffenheim and they don't lost to Hertha in 6th.)

Good shout...Hertha were amazing until about 2 months ago sitting in 3rd - never in with a chance of the title but confounded all the pundits.

Also Ralf Rangnick from RB Leipzig. Hugely innovative manager who'd suit the Pozzos quite well, doubt he'd leave the moneybags at Red Bull behind though, especially now they're in the Bundesliga.

Funny you should say that because Bundesliga 2 race was as unpredictable as the Championship...it seemed like Bochum were going to run away with it but then fell away, St Pauli started on a run then fell away and Freiburg timed their run at the right time.

Everyone was beating everyone, it was crazy. I kept an eye on it because of betting accumulators and the results were always upsetting me.
