He reminded me of a mix of Richarlison and JP. He's got the pace and directness of Richarlison and the dribbling ability and creativeness of JP. Equally happy taking people on 1 vs 1 but also likes to slow the game down and taking the ball across the pitch like JP does. Has the South American tenacity and aggression of both as well.
Haha, was going to write that he looked like a mix of Richarlison and JP but couldn't think of how best to put it (and s think closer to Richarlison). Thanks for doing it for me!
What if he has Richarlisons lack of technique and JPs reluctance to get in the box . The next Deeney !
Can he get us 20 goals in the Championship like prime Deeney though... Because none of our other strikers look like getting 5 more as it stands.
Prime Deeney was superb player. Shame his dwindling powers tainted his brilliant 4 or 5 seasons with us. Defintely deserves an engraving on the Legends tablet.
Interesting interview with Martins in local Brazilian media which I've done my best to translate below. Disclaimer: I do not speak Portguese.
I really hope if one leaves us it will be Sarr.! Pedro is getting better and better and is more important to the team right now (IMHO). Martins in place of Sarr sounds fine.... P. S. Yes I do realise JP is probably more likely to go but they're now touting £45k for Sarr so maybe neither in January.??
I've seen this a bit on here recently. I suspect very few people have seen this guy play so have no idea how he will get on. As I mentioned before, Sarr gets double marked a lot of time which creates space for the likes of Pedro, remove Sarr and teams will concentrate on Pedro. Selling Sarr reduces are chances of promotion greatly Stats this season Martins - Played 30 games, 3 goals and 5 assists Sarr - Played 18 games, 6 goals and 4 assists and used to this league Martins may turn out to be absolute quality but it would be a huge gamble to sell Sarr and then to rely on him
I have seen Sarr have more than one player on him when he has the ball, but not noticed two people marking him to stop him getting the ball.
Well yes, that’s the point, I’ve never actually seen this mythical thing happen when I’m watching a game.
My apologies if I wasn't clear. It's not being double marked but when he receives the ball he has two men on him very quickly. Obviously being marked by two people would be silly
That happens to most players though, that’s what fullbacks and wingers do together. Have you never seen a team who press? Sometimes they put three or four players on the player with the ball, hence why it’s called a press.
I don't think man marking really exists in the modern game, let alone being double marked. Isn't it all about protecting space and closing down passing lanes? And I'm pretty sure that the main common denominator in how many people Sarr is facing is how quickly we've moved the ball to him. We regularly see Sema trying to barrel his way in between two players but wouldn't claim he's being double marked. If you move the ball slowly (as we often do) pretty much any player that receives it in a wide position will have two defenders facing them.
A press is generally made further up the pitch. Do you argue against everything anybody says? Lets look at it like this then. Sarr will be targeted by more than one player because, according to pundits and opposition, he is our most dangerous player. They will treat him differently to Sema for instance or Martins when he plays. If Sarr has 2 or or even 4 players going to him this would open up space elsewhere for somebody like Pedro to exploit
No that's rubbish. Utter nonsense. I hope you've got some evidence for this outrageous and preposterous theory.
I think a you’re confusing what happens when Sarr has a good game vs when Sarr has a bad game when he’s anonymous. It stands to reason any player having a good game and running at defenders will attract players towards them. If Sarr is having a quiet game and hugging the touch line and not doing anything, the opposition will be able to push up and exploit the space. He never just has two players standing by him regardless, so when he’s having a quiet game and refusing to make runs there is zero advantage to us, just a disadvantage.
... Good points. Tbh I posted it with the mindset that one of them is likely to go in January based on recent rumours of keen interest). Will be very happy if we can afford to decline all offers.... And it sounds like suitors are reported to be put off..
No, I'm sorry but that could be extremely offensive to someone who identifies for example, as a dog or a cat.
The kind of game he's having will have little effect. Opposition teams class him as being our biggest threat and will treat him as such no matter what kind of game he's having
