    Is this the next Arkady Renko adventure, I hope it's better than the last two as they were a bit thin.

    But I'm a 44 year-old widower and all I have now are my memories of my sexual prowess in Liverpool (and Canterbury) in the early 90's (date not age of the conquests).

    In Bristol there is a certain type of lad I dont like:

    Rugby Lads.

    The Website link highlights exactly what I mean:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/9069783/City-boys-shame-after-rugby-email-goes-viral.html

    The tour rules

    (i) Cheating is allowed;

    (ii) No anti-lad behavior allowed (i.e. calling girlfriends, being nice to random expats);

    (iii) Everyone has each others backs;

    (vi) No stealing ties or light bulbs;

    (v) Compulsory gunning of parents affairs;

    (vi) Mentioning parents salaries once a day; and

    (vii) Being good lads (i.e. getting a round in for England);

    (viii) Chants about your surrounding environment, being oily and how rich we are, are compulsory;

    (ix) Public school boy 10 minutes (collars must be up) at specified 10 minutes past the hour;

    (x) No cameras allowed after sunset, unless it’s an underwater camera or there’s a [redacted](for evidential purposes);

    (xi) high fives (and [redacted]) are obligatory during a [redacted] and after;

    (xii) All universal consumption laws will be in effect throughout the duration of the tour; and

    (xiii) At least one ‘Silly 5’ at the bar per night. All G4 members must go to the closest bar and get loose with their credit/debit cards. All drinks purchased to be consumed within the allotted 5 minute time period.

    How many burds have you all banged? Is there a certain number to become a lad?

    Being a lad sounds quite difficult, a lot of rules to follow.

    I think I have the social thick skin of a tank when it comes to peer pressure. If I won't want to do something, I'll say it and dig my heels in. Autism is useful sometimes...

    Amen! If we're going to reduce ladism to a series of individual actions, then we're all lads, and lads can't exist. To me, a "true lad" is someone who has embraced the lifestyle discussed on here, and displays little to no shame or remorse for their actions.

    Couldn't agree more with this, and it's painful to watch. I have one particular friend who likes to present himself as a cocky and in charge "lad", but if you sit down and have a conversation with him you realise that he is just lost and depressed. Most of the things that ladism promotes - competitive drinking, getting laid, watching the footy every night - are just a series of escapes that involve no emotional engagement.

    I got to the point a few years back where I accepted that I hate nightclubs. I went to them during uni and early twenties but always dreaded the idea.

    So where have I gone and said all these things? Quote me.

    Then tell me how they're any different to what's been said over two years repeatedly on that Simms thread.

    Quote you on what?

    I'm speaking about "lad" culture in general - Are you actually seeing this as a personal attack on you, because your defence of the whole situation leads me to believe this? I've used one reference to you in all of that and that was refering to a girl as a piece of "*****", which I didn't like. And you know you said that.

    I don't like something, get over it, it wasn't an attack on you. No matter how much you try and justify it with you anecdotes of women at staff parties singing songs and getting coppers to join in I'm not going to change my mind.

    I stay well out of the Simms thread. Maybe I've visited 2 or 3 times in the whole time I've been here, but I don't recall ever commenting.

    The attitude you are coming across with just stinks of "i'll do what I like and you ain't stopping me" which is exactly the issue with Lad "culture" It is an obnoxious lifestyle that has no regard for someone outside of the elitest circle and people choose to be like that to fit in.

    Orny mate there's a big difference between saying something tongue in cheek and it actually being funny compared to a 19/20 year old male desperately trying to fit in by necking his own **** and sick

    Read your previous post and then calculate how many times you referred to me.

    Whatever you seem to think of me is wrong. I do what I want? Whenever have I implied that?

    My issue isn't what a bunch of strangers seem to think about me. Its much bigger than that. It's making assumptions of groups of people. You've said you didn't like my disrespectful comment about a girl (a fictional girl too wasn't it?), but you're all particularly content in abusing certain groups, regardless of whether I fit in one of them or not (and for the record, I don't).

    If you think Im the sort to mouth off about necking acid or power-boating some blonde bit (heard this today when visiting a YOI, so thought I would use this as an example, before any of make more assumptions) then that's fine. You'd be wrong, but it's fine for you to think that. What's not fine is taking little Joe Public and just because he's at uni or college he suddenly falls within the same group you all refer to as obnoxious c*nts.

    There is so much wrong with this world, the times we live in, they're not getting easier and all you can think of is how to marginalise the very group of people that this country needs.

    Take away higher education and the country will crumble, with immigration blowing out of control.

    Next November Im spending eleven days in a very deprived area near Africa. Sounds like a fun holiday to you? Well it's not. I'll be building habitable homes and schools.

    This is the 21st century and whilst people are still living with no home, no education, no food, all you can think about is what defines a lad.

    Besides, what behaviour is more problematic; singing a football chant outside a club or running on a football pitch with no regard for the safety of anyone around you?

    Are you still thinking I am referring to you? When I say "you" in that context I mean general Lad. I thought I may have given that away when I said I was speaking in general. For someone that doesn't care about what others think you are definitely holding on to it. I'm not sure why. As for me making assumptions about groups then so be it, I feel there is a group of people, they may not congregate in one place but they certainly exist as a "group" As for you, don't throw stones in glass houses by judging my character by saying I wouldn't fit in with said group when calling me out on doing the same. I refer to your attitude as that because you don't seem to be listening to a word anyone is saying and just coming out all guns blazing.

    The fact is you've still made that comment, fictional or not. It doesn't do the view of you any good. I never said that said "Lad" had to attend college or uni to fall into this criteria. I've said that I've no problem with having a drink or a laugh, just there isn't need to be a **** about it with the actions that come with it. I do find it obnoxious, I don't like loud, in your face people. Like you've commented, I'm quite a reserved person too, take me out of my comfort zone and I'll freeze up. So now you can make your judgement about me not fitting in with a certain group. I spent 8 years of my younger adult life following a straight-edge lifestyle - I had no issue with my friends going out and getting drunk.

    I don't know you as a person, and I haven't even placed you in this group. I commend you for taking time out of your own schedule to do what you have said above. There are many issues in this world and I don't just think about what defines a Lad, but in an area where the subject is exactly that I will pass on my opinion, like it or not. You've taken offence to a subject that has been completely blown out of proportion and to be honest, it isn't the first time it has happened with you is it. I have no issue with you at all, I have an issue with "Lad Culture" and people trying too hard to be the centre of attention with very little regard for others around them.

    Err mate, you appear to have picket up a piece of malware. You have, in fact, picked up the "of_a_ l" virus (pronounced "offal") that appears to replace the character stroke "s" (in your case) with "of a l". I suggest http://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/ to remove it.
