Yep, as you suggested, that must end all speculation over Archer. We can't have more than two players on loan from any one club.
Did we sign Davis with an option to buy at the end of the season? I ask because I think the only way we could then get Archer on loan would be to bring forward the Davis signing option? Villa have said Archer won’t leave until they’ve replaced him though.
Will be pleased to finally bring in a left-footed CB. Shame it would rule out Archer. Unless we could make Davis permanent this window with JP/Sarr money?
Not my preferred move but any CB upgrade is a positive - do hope it remains only a loan move, though; I didn’t realise he was 27. Can just see the dial turning into another ‘not quite good enough and not quite young enough (at the higher level)’ defensive signing come the end of the season.
We'd lose the option of having a good look at him before committing though. Really disappointing to miss out on Archer.....esp if he then joins a rival.
Word on the Twittersphere is that PL clubs can only take 2 loanees from the same club, but EFL are allowed up to 4, so long as 2 of those are U23. One to watch.
