I feel you're jumping the gun on Sierralta, you can count on the fingers of...well, a couple of fingers the number of bad games he's had in the Championship, and sure, he's not great with the ball at his feet, but nobody else is much better
In fairness, it's not as if there are no defenders at this level who are competent with the ball at their feet!
Sierralta should be nowhere near the bench let alone in the team absolute garbage in what ever he does regardless of playing out from the back I have seen buses turn quicker
Wouldn't have been good enough for the Prem last season, not sure he would have been good enough to be a regular 2 seasons ago, but he'd be perfect for us now. Goes to show the lack of long-term thinking at the club!
I’ve seen springer spaniels less drawn to a ball than this bloke. No wonder the other defenders get dragged out of position
He was absolutely fine. Lots of good tackles, lots of good headers. Knows his limits and doesn't **** around like all our other useless CBs.
You think he had a good game today? I'm fond of the chap, wondered why he didn't play much last season, and was looking forward to his reintroduction this season, but I call it as I see it, and he was sh1te today.
Thinking? You believe there might be such a thing as thinking, albeit a "lack of long term thinking "?! Not much evidence from the hierarchy in the last few years.
He turned his back on their first two goals. Unacceptable, be a man and take it in the face if necessary. If your not looking at the fookin ball how the he'll do you know where it is?
Drives me potty ! I spend my working life telling tennis players young and old to watch the ****ing ball and watch your opponents and not your partner in doubles. Flimsy in the extreme. Don't turn your back. Basics.
I watched Norwich earlier and Grant Hanley really stood up like a man in defence. Saved an almost certain goal by getting his head on a shot and putting over, simply by not turning his back and keeping an eye on the ball. I believe one smashed off his chest too.
Think it's important at this level to have some absolute nutcase meatheads in defence, and Hanley fits the bill nicely
Serrialta coco the clown or bambi on ice take your pick he's horrendous own goal against wolves last season facing the wrong way was bad,he's taken it too another level this season
None of our players were good enough for the prem last season (bar Dennis for a while). If we do manage to get promoted, none of this squad will be good enough next season and nor will their cheap punt replacements. We can’t compete at that level anymore and should just focus on retaining a good champ squad.
Kid sat next to me yesterday shouted don't turn your back, you never turn your back you can't see what's happening, because I asked him, I know that he's 12 and he still understands this basic.
Sometimes the basics get lost in coaches becoming too fancy, intricate etc. The best coaching is simple. KISS if you want. Very much a skill not to over coach.
He was a big part of a strong defensive unit at Stoke last season and he's a far better passer on the right hand side of a 3 than anyone we have now
Wilmot couldn't get in the team ahead of WTE under Xisco, which was fair enough because WTE had a good season, but surely he'd have been able to get in the team over a Kabasele who was shaky then, and even shakier now
Thought the Kamara penalty appeal was a 50/50 one, he definitely got pushed in the back but I think the way he went down didn't help the cause.
Been saying it for years now, we’re too nice on the pitch and in the dugout. We’re the only team that never seems to surround the ref or the 4th official. Everyone does it against us and get rewarded for it. We seem to have this weird thought that respecting the officials will help us. It never does. I hate that part of the game but we have to start doing it.
Cost us 2 points against WBA. Convinced had we surrounded the ref after the penalty being awarded, their CB would have been sent off. We’d likely have beaten them after that. Edwards should also have lambasted the ref for the disallowed goal yesterday. But nah, too nice all round.
Might have changed the game against West Brom, but in fairness, it was like 11 against 10 all game, sending their player off would have merely levelled things up effectively!
Counter-productive when it seems it was the correct decision? But I agree that we don't make enough of poor decisions against us during the game.
Plenty of coaches mouth off at wrong (tight) calls…that’s more my point. I don’t really like it but it’s a tactic that isn’t going anywhere. And whether we like it or not, getting on the backs of officials plays into further games and you tend to get more calls going your way. We are far, far too nice and nowhere near ‘streetwise’ enough.
Agree. I was calling for him last season but he was our worst player on Sat by some margin and that's a low, low bar.
