Just asked on Tranmere thread, but seems a more sensible place to ask on here. Is Pedro a number 9 type player, or a 10, or more out wide, or anywhere along the front?
Best used as a striker, but was used by Fluminese on the wing (on the left I think) a fair bit. So basically anywhere along the front. EDIT: https://www.transfermarkt.com/joao-pedro/leistungsdaten/spieler/626724 - This says he played 12 games as a striker and 12 as a winger.
From YouTube it looks like he can do a bit of everything. Run in behind, get poachers goals, or drop deep and get involved with build up. He's also played a few games out wide. He looks a decent size but I'd imagine he's not ready to play the Deeney role yet. I could be wrong and he has some crazy wiry strength though!
I think Deeney is going to be playing every game he's fit for, so hopefully Pedro can be used out wide. Rotation of Pedro, Sarr, Del sounds solid, could probably do with one more back-up. If Welbeck's ever fit again he's good competition for Deeney.
Was there any reason why he wasn't in the squads for either Bournemouth or Spurs? Seems to still be in London today so not involved again this evening?
I cant see him getting any premier league minutes until (or unless) we are well clear of relegation. He looked miles away to being ready in this pundits opinion.
I think it's fair to say he's both i) probably not ready for first team starts and ii) still a really promising looking prospect. Definitely needs to try to build up a bit more strength. Maybe next season we'll start to see him having more of an impact.
Threat title change to 'Joao Pedo' https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/watford-star-joao-pedro-dating-21414368
Based only on what I've read, JP seems like he's more of an outside forward than a TD replacement. Cuche, despite being smaller in stature is more of the centre-forward/target type and therefore more likely the eventual TD replacement. Sent from the mobile client - Forum Talker
I don't expect we will ever see him start for us. I expect he will move on in the summer if, as seems likely, we are relegated.
If he spends the whole season on the bench for us will a big club still want to pay the large fee we'd want for him? Maybe that's our plan all along - don't play him and pretend he's actually crap, so we can retain him and unleash him on the Champ.
The Article covered this: The legal age of consent in the UK is 16, compared with 14 in their native Brazil. A Watford spokesman told the Star: "Both Joao and his girlfriend are acutely aware of both the legality and cultural differences between the UK and Brazil.
Played for the Under 23s today - didn't score but apprantley played well showing some nice touches. Maybe he will get a spot on the bench Saturday?!
