A very rattled Raab, still attempting to defend the indefensible. Presumably an implosion in the Tory ranks; only the stunningly loyal or stunningly stupid will continue with this pretence.

I'm beginning to think the Government must be drip feeding us these stories about gropers, porn watchers, covid parties etc etc to keep the fact that the country is falling apart at the seams out of the news

I'll admit, it's not great, but at least we didn't get Comrade Corbyn or Dreary Keir.

And don't forget the "chaos with Ed Miliband" that we thankfully avoided.

Javid and Sunak have resigned, pretty much throwing their hats into the ring for the top job.

It’s the cover up that takes you down, but the topic matters too.

Asking ministers to pedal such an obvious lie about sexual abuse, and then u turn hours later, was never going to go down well. I’m just glad ministers have finally developed a bit of a backbone

Don't think either are the answer tbh. They can't distance themselves from what they did and said in support of Johnson over the last few years.

They might break down the door but the Tories have a history of picking a more untainted underdog to "unite" the party after the initial carnage of the leadership debates.

I still don't see him going voluntarily. They'll have to drag him out kicking and screaming.

Have they though? I suspect Javid and Sunak can see the way the wind is blowing and hope that by taking a stand, so, so late on, that they can represent reform.

Just can’t deal with how boring he is.

Like with Boris, you get a bloke that hires someone who clearly sexually abuses people, so you call him ‘Pincher by name pincher by nature’ and YOLO gives him a job to bully and intimidate other MPs, then lies about ever knowing about the abuse despite it being officially logged and then says he did know but it was a principle as it wasn’t proven, and now apologises as he should never have done it.

Keir wouldn’t have bloody hired him in the first place, boring melt zzz

As much as I loathe the Tories my one admiration for them is the ability to stab each other in the front/back/sides. Labour in-fighting is such a dreary business by comparison.
Were they? Johnson blatantly lied about dozens of parties for months. Starmer admitted that he had that beer (he couldn’t not) from the off. It’s been a major effort of the press to elevate that event to the status of the Downing Street ones.
