Andrea Jenkyns is the latest to jump on board the sex education bandwagon with a lusty letter of outrage that’s short on evidence (who, when, where etc.), but rammed full of sex acts.

I expect she had to take a break at some point while writing it.

NB. Pity the son. That’s a lifetime in therapy to come.

Great explanation as to why the "Illegal Migration" bill breaks international law:

    https://twitter.com/BestForBritain/status/1633497536831815680?t=tcVbCPtpyj6nE6XAotqtew&s=19

But I think the Tories are fully aware of that fact. They don't care whether it becomes law or not. They just want to have the opportunity to blame the UN, ECHR and the EU when it fails. Oh, and don't forget those "woke" lefty lawyers who will have the temerity to point out that the bill breaches international conventions that we not only signed, but designed.

This is pure politics. Before 2016 it was easy. The government (of any colour rosette) could just blame the EU for any domestic failing. It worked so well that the EU is still demonised by some to this day.

Now the government has to manufacture an international dispute so they can claim they have been thwarted by those meddling foreigners and lefty do-gooders.

They are hoping that this is where the public will focus their attention and forget the domestic crisis that is the result of 13 years of Tory mismanagement.

Unfortunately it might just work and give them a boost in the polls. I fear that will bring a populist demand to leave the ECHR and isolate the UK even further.

The irony is that Tory MPs are famous for having "interesting" sexual preferences, most likely coming from a repressed sexual education upbringing as children!

Also the government aren't actually doing any governing: it was pointed out in last week's Private Eye that the Tories have introduced so little actual legislation that the vast bulk of the Commons' 'work' (sic), in this session, is debating Early Day Motions. In 'normal' times EDMs are not a signifiant of an MP's job in the HoC. All the Tories have is the 'War on Woke' and EDMs.

Funny that political pundits can express whatever they like without declaring their interests or biases.

See Andrew Neil, who presented political programmes on the BBC while publisher of the right-wing Spectator

See Fiona Bruce, who hosts BBC Question Time and whose husband's company took millions from the Tory Government in advertising campaign fees

See any number of Tufton Street-backed pundits who are presented as experts or analysts without so much as a mention of who is paying them and why

See Isabel Oakeshott – partner of Richard Tice

    etc etc

But yeah, a footballer expressing a fairly humane view is the problem. Especially when that view is then misrepresented for the hard of thinking to repeat incorrectly.

Let's face it, Sunak's slogan 'Stop the Boats' was dreadful. Absolutely dreadful. Thick, lazy dog-whistle nonsense. The 21st century equivalent of a 1960s boarding house with a 'No Blacks, No Irish, No Dogs' sign in the window. Literally as bad as that. And he's the Prime Minister.

But it allows millions of Shy Tories to slink into the polling booth and vote without guilt for people who stand for absolutely dreadful ideas. Literally the worst of us, nearly all of them. Sunak is even worse because he's absolutely loaded and he's just chucking scraps to wolves.

I noticed that Robert 'approve my mate's planning appeal quick before the law changes next week' Jenrick was somewhat flummoxed on last night's QT when Kenneth Clarke pointed out to him (twice) that Lineker was comparing the LANGUAGE being used to that used in 1930s Germany, not implying the current situation in UK was anything like Nazi Germany.
Of course, the implicit concern here is that the language being used in Germany at the start of the 1930s prepared the ground for the acceptance of what eventually happened. Once the demonisation of selected 'others' had sufficiently penetrated general societal attitudes, the next steps were a lot easier. You could tell by Jenrick's befuddled brow that such a line of reasoning was WAY too difficult.

    Yes, exactly this.

The whole "my ancestor escaped the holocaust and therefore I'm outraged" line peddled by some misses the whole point of what Lineker said.

He never said the Tories are being anti-Semitic or are Nazis. The point he is making is that they are using the same technique of demonising a minority to distract the majority from the real issues that are impacting their lives. Issues that are of the government's making and are likely to end their period in power unless they can create such a distraction.

The politics becomes clearer today as Sunak signs a deal with the French to do exactly what Labour has been saying for several years. To have an asylum processing centre in France and up the cooperation.

Of course the Tories have to throw red meat to their boneheaded base. They foolishly delivered a Brexit without sufficient agreements on migration and then refused to deal with the problem except through increasingly hateful rhetoric.

The rhetoric has become hysterical of late to cover the fact that the game is up. We cannot manage this without European cooperation.

For me Jenrick is the very personification of a Tory spiv. After the activity involving Richard Desmond and the "pork barrel" politics involved in the distribution of government grants, he shouldn't be in the HoC, let alone in the higher echelons of government.

I am no great fan of Gary Lineker, but his language in the tweet was perfectly nuanced. I doubt if Sue Ellen, Cambridge and Sorbonne (Erasmus!!!) educated could have composed better.......

Bad day for free speech. Hopefully we can all agree that Lineker shouldn't be sanctioned for his juvenile comments. Great news that we're going to be spared his smug mug and dreary presentation style for a while though

This is actually hilarious now. Simpering snowflakes can't cope with a flippin' football presenter saying something that broadly supports the weak, disadvantaged and disenfranchised. Extraordinary stuff, really. Brexit was going to make Britain a strong, powerful, confident nation and look where we are? Middle aged (mostly men) crying about someone exercising the free speech they championed. We've become a nation of wetbacks who can't cope with hearing someone speak Polish in the supermarket. "Awwww diddums, show me on the doll where the nasty foreigner hurt your feelings." Not enough LOLZ to sum it all up really.
