Another well past his best old duffer here for his final pay day. Probably cracked up when he heard Pozzo on the other end of the phone.

Everyone knows that getting the manager's job at Watford is like winning the lottery; it's just you have to wait a few months to collect the big prize.

The problem is we don’t have the ability to attract a manager good enough to keep that load of shyte up. All the good managers are in jobs, we only go for unemployed ones or ones that have barely even managed a football team before.

Our record is pretty damning, only one of our managers has been approached by another club since the Pozzos took over.

He can **** off. We aren't staying up, but we don't need to make it even more miserable for fans by ensuring we don't even score the odd consolation goal.

    Hideous stuff.

Agree with this. It's time for him to go. Can't believe how unlucky Gino has been with hiring all these terrible managers.

Should of kept the P.E teacher. Goals and points under Xisco was respectful and our ppg was bang on for survival. Nothing against CR70, but we went for the name not the skill set. Roy is just killing time till retirement - and what a low to go out on for him personally, getting relegated with one of the worst ever Watford squads in terms of spines.

I wasn't really onboard with the appointment but I had no idea he would be such a dull coward. This performance is entirely his fault. He picked the same team as West Ham, anyone who went to that game can see that is mental. He wasted 45 minutes of a must win game.

    I can't stand him.

Sorry, wasn’t specifically aimed AT you - just quoting and making a general comment.

I agree though, Hodgson is/was an awful appointment and the latest in a long line of abysmal decisions made by those in charge.

27% possession and no shots on target in the first half though. Far too reckless. Attacking without any defensive discipline. No wonder He (#sayhisname) is so unhappy tonight.

Another dreadful appointment by The Stability. I'm lead to believe Gino is a football man so it's a surprise that he's so ******* awful when it comes to making football decisions. Hodgson won't last the season, we'll get another one in and everyone will have a good laugh at Watford again. It's embarrassing being a Watford fan and that's all down to Mr Pozzo.

People will moan about anything - we've been absolute gash since Sarr got injured. His run of form was basically what got us promoted and without him we've been completely toothless.

The players simply aren't good enough to stay up and likely never were, regardless of who the manager is/was. This has been the case throughout the whole season and without Sarr it made our chances even more hopeless. We couldn't score with Ranieri, I don't know why people expect that suddenly players like King and JP might look prolific under a different manager.

All our managers have been dealt duff hands by the owners, and most of the arguments the posters on here have with team selections and formation are basically like arguing about the arrangement of the deck-chairs on the Titanic.

The plan today was always going to be try and keep it at 0-0 until we could bring Sarr on to finally have a bit more threat again, sadly we just lasted until 2 minutes before the break.

We still look better with the ball and more solid off it with Hodgson. We're not going to get any better than him either.

We're near enough down already, but I'm willing to see how he gets us playing with Sarr in the team before writing him off as being as bad as what came before him.

I agree, plus I don’t see the point of blaming him personally because he’s managed teams the same way for 40 years. He also lost his first three games at Palace, you don’t get a new manager bounce from Roy and I actually read that directly from a Palace fan when he was appointed, it’s about instilling a rigid defensive framework into the team. It just seems odd to blame him for being defensive, dour coach when that’s what he has been for his entire career, blame the owners for appointing him but don’t blame him for being him.

The other issue we have as well is that we treat managers in the same way we treat centre backs in that we won’t pay for them. We only appoint out of work ones, and by January there aren’t any good out of work coaches.

I’d question which manager that exists could get us out of this mess in some fantasy world where we could choose anyone, let alone a manager that is actually someone we could realistically get.

  19. Pointless firing Hodgson, today was the last chance to save the season, let him go in the summer

Root cause of all our troubles is the ridiculous churn of coaches

A team can never be the sum of its parts when everything is thrown up in the air every 3 months

When will Gino and Scott learn they need to appoint the right coach, support them, and give them time

Why didn't we just keep ranieri but tell him we have to play that pressing style that we looked ace at that one match?

I just wonder, had we never sacked Zola - where we would be now? Take the Yoveil result (and the awful run of form) to one side just for the here and now, with his presence as a
well respected coach. Let's be honest some of our football under him was sublime. I think looking back at that, and where we are now - I am certain he could of got us promoted within a few seasons. Joka was never/will never be a PL manager IMHO. I love the guy to bits for what he did for us, but the Championship is his bread and butter (to an extent).

Not sure I agree that no matter what manager we have, we won’t stay up. That’s the entire point of a manager, to hide the weaknesses and exaggerate their strengths. We could give this a good go, but we keep hiring crap managers who make the players look even worse than they are. Brentford finished below us last season, and they have 9 more points than us

It depends how you look at it. Could we hire a manager that could keep us up? Possibly, but it would mean persuading him to come here and getting him out of his current club and paying compensation.

Could we get a manger that could keep us up within the realities of how Gino actually operates? Well it means picking from a list of coaches currently not in work and who would come to us. It’s a pretty small list and by definition the names on it aren’t very good, hence why we dragged a pensioner out of retirement.

Without Sarr this team has very few real "strengths".

They are steadily falling down the table though and could well end up relegated.

For a while last season it appeared they'd easily go up as league winners, but then they got a couple of key injuries and started to slide. Similarly we weren't doing dreadfully this season until we lost Sarr (losing Nkoulou and Etebo when we did were also blows).

It also can't purely be about the manager either that they are above us, given that we both started the season with the same managers that got us 2nd and them 3rd - yet they started the season much better under Frank than we did under Munoz. Their decent start could have just been an initial extra enthusiasm and energy from it being their first ever season in the Prem which we obviously didn't have this time around.

Brentford apparently played the best football in the championship last season according to a few of the pundits, this season they’ve been compared to Stoke and Burnley by a number of people on here. I think not withstanding their current slump, the difference between Frank and Munoz was that one made allowances for, and adapted to the level of opposition and one didn’t.

Possibly, although I'm not convinced Kamara will be happy to play at that level. He's easily Premier League quality. I was referring to the Head Coach position more than anything. We all know Roy won't be here next season, so what's the point?

We need to identify the next manager, sack this decrepit old windbag and start the preparation for the chumpionship now. It's another failed appointment. Accept it quickly and move on to the next, and make it a suave middle aged Italian, not an OAP for crying out loud.

With the time he's had out, and what he's been through, it'll be interesting to see what level he's at now. Relegation rivalry aside, I hope he comes in and enjoys his football again.

I still think the formation/line up is bizarre. Cleverley and Kuco as wide mids is a disaster. It's bloody dull, which I wouldn't too much at this stage if it bought results, but it hasn't so far. Would much rather a 4-2-3-1. Foster in goal, Kiko, Samir, Sierralta, Kamara at the back, Sissoko and Etebo (if fit) in CM's, Louza AM, Sarr and Dennis AML/AMR and Pedro through the middle - However i'm not a football manager.
