That statement makes no logical sense. If you support something in the sense of a sports team, you are a fan. If you were not a fan, why would you bother supporting their games with money etc.

Maybe some kind of "Buy three get one free" option should be looked at each season?

Gino got a free Parker pen for enquiring though, that’ll come in handy for inking Hodgson’s P45 in a few months time.

2 free parker pens in fact, and I believe we have just swapped them for a couple of CBs from the Belgian League.

I've been desperately trying to find the picture from an old thread (guessing a Palace match thread??) one of you wags put up of an old girl on holiday who was the spit of Roy.

If anyone can find please put it up, cracked me up at the time and I'm will come in handy at some point.

Unfortunately offset by the extra expense on replacing all stairs with ramps, turning the central heating on full 24/7 and providing bowls of toffees and mint humbugs at the reception.

As @a19tgg said on the match thread, there's no point getting annoyed with Hodgson because a two minute look at his Palace team would have told you all you needed to know.

I still think that I could keep this Watford team in the PL, so I fully expect someone with 50 odd years experience compared to my 0 years to do the same. 2 tough away games and Sarr still to come back. Hopefully Roy finds his best team soon and we can pick up some very essential wins

We know that Roy's methods work because he's never been relegated from the Prem and very recently kept Palace comfortably in the division. They weren't exciting to watch but right now I think we'd all take that.

The problem is I believe he has the worst squad he's ever been tasked with keeping up, and we're already at the must win stage instead of just must not lose.

Can he adapt slightly and find a system where some cutting edge is retained? I'm not sure if it's either that he can't or refuses to due to discovering already in his short spell just how poor we are defensively and therefore feels he needs to sacrifice all attacking instincts to shore us up.

I've no doubt we'll get frustrated by his tactics after every game we fail to score or threaten, but the main culprit will remain the owner who once again squandered a transfer window to bring in proper, half decent centre halves. A single acquisition from Udinese just isn't enough and so we remain in the ludicrous position where Cathcart is first choice.

His tenure has already started in a similar manner to how his at Palace started - it took him until mid-December to get an away goal. However, once his team did, they only failed to score in one away game (at us, funnily enough) and won four and drew two of his final six games to achieve a midtable position, so it seems unfair to accuse his teams of being negative and merely well-organized (that applies more to Pulis and BFS). And that was while playing Zaha who was instrumental to their survival in the front two of a 4-4-2.

The only problem of course is he has somewhat fewer games at us to achieve survival.

I might be being overly harsh tonight, only I really wanted us to win after the Zouma incident today. I've long since come to terms with us not being good enough this season and the fact we're almost certainly going down, but after seeing that video, then seeing him starting and then Moyes all but condoning it because he's one of their 'better players' really wound me up.

During the first lockdown I took in an abandoned cat approx 6 months old that had started sleeping under my front porch. She had a collar but wasn't microchipped and nobody in the area claimed her when I asked. The vet said many pets were bought and abandoned during lockdown and sadly she was another. It also turned out she was pregnant and went on to have a litter of three. They all went to one home together after 3 months, and their mum's now doing fine with us:)

After what that ******** did I was desperate for him to be on the losing side so it's annoyed me more than it usually does that we - once again - lost. Hopefully by the time Saturday rolls around I'll have deluded myself sufficiently to think that we have a chance!

Wow, can cats really become pregnant at six months (or less as you didn't say whether or not she'd just become pregnant)? They're still kittens themselves at that age!

I was surprised also (my knowledge of cats was practically zero as I'd only ever had dogs) but the vet said they can get pregnant at 4 months, which is the earliest you can have them spayed. Going by the timings, she must have just got pregnant when I took her in. Because she was so young herself and with the litter being small, she didn't get very big so the penny only dropped regarding what was happening at the last minute! I thought she was getting a bit fatter because I was feeding her up due to her having been homeless.

Here's a couple of pics - one at a couple of days old with mum, the other after a few weeks in their new home:

A lot of overreaction to our improved defensive showing. Lots of “we’d have stayed up if we’d had Roy in charge from the start”. We haven’t scored a goal under him yet!

We only look better at the back because he’s packed the midfield with cloggers and made no attempt to give us a creative platform.

It’s like the QSF 4-4-2 from his first stint, except we don’t have Ighalo in s*** hot form, or a bit of guile from Abdi on the wings. It’s f****** boring to watch and you know we’re going to lose as soon as we fall behind.

Absolutely agree. As I’ve said elsewhere, Gino seems to have gotten caught up in getting someone in just to make us concede less, when what we needed was someone just to make us win more at this point.

Bad be more gung-ho and hope for the best and win a few ?

Isn’t that what we had under Ranieri.

Needed some sort of combination of both really I guess .

Can organise a defence but utilities the attacking options we have albeit obviously wouldn’t have Sarr up till now.

I no longer feel a sense of despair about individual results, I’ve seen enough to suggest we’ll become pretty solid and hard to beat. That won’t happen overnight so there is absolutely no guarantee we’ll beat Brighton just because it seems like we have to. We won’t play any differently against Brighton other than however Sarr fits in to the plan and how that changes things.

As long as the players don’t lose heart in the process then we’ll pick up points later on, it almost certainly won’t be enough but it is what it is. If you make peace with the fact we aren’t going to treat individual games as more winnable than others, and it’s going to be about getting better at playing a specific way and nicking points and wins here and there, then it’s honestly a lot more bearable.

See above. It’s how he does things, ask any Palace fan, he has a way of eeking out points in the long run but it’s not pretty and it’s not enjoyable. He isn’t about to suddenly throw caution to the wind and undo his entire 40 year footballing philosophy because we’re playing Brighton at home, the opponent is irrelevant, it’s about grinding out points playing the same way week in week out.

It’s hardly his fault he’s just doing what he’s always done is it?
