I'm a working class chap who will never EVER vote Tories because they dont care about people like me.
Its a bunch of rich boys who only care about lining the pockets of rich people.

Take the Watford candidate for example.

Born in Leeds, went to Leeds Grammar School, educated at Oxford, lives in London, Prpoerty Developer with loads of money. Granted, he owns a property in Watford, but he bought that as his 'base' for his campaign.

Does he know his way round watford? Does he feck. Do I want someone like that representing Watford? No I do not.

Don't let Labour and the Conservatives perpetuate their little cartel passing power back and forward between them every 10 years or so.

They have played "Ping Pong" with our country for too long, so vote for real change, vote for "The Third Way".............

Good. So vote for a party who want to bring in PR instead of electing your local MP to represent you.

I'm a middle class chap with aspirations, so I'm voting Tory!

My local Tory called me a c**t. Labour... well err NO. And the Lib Dem (Sal) didn't have the time to talk to me in Martins Newsagent last Monday. Only wanted 5 minutes of her time to ask her a few questions. Not that I actually give a monkeys about her pointless little party.

    Ho Hum, roll on elections...

Hopefully Friday will be a happy day when the Tories have a majority of about 20 to 30 I reckon. I prefer having so called 'Toffs' in power I think.

It's a choice between Waitrose (Tory), Lidl (Labour) and Morrison's (Lib Dem).

The problem is for every £4 that has been spent on these services £1 has been borrowed.

You think you haven't had any money in you pocket, just wait until you start to pay off this debt. Mind you, another 5 years of this spending and think how much extra you'll have to pay.

Labour is no longer an option, they've lined their own nests and spent our money 1.25x over. They've had 13 years in power and made a mess of things. Getting desperate now suggesting people vote for the oposition party to the Torries for your particular area. Their policy of increasing national insurance tax, effectively increasing taxation per job is not going to help kick start a decrease in the unemployment figures. Their refusal to cancel the £billions of pounds worth of unneeded ID card and non working NHS computer systems that the public and NHS do not want smacks of we know better than you.

With the Tories you know that they know their bum from their elbow when it comes to the economy which will enable you to be able to earn enough to pay for your own services. They also have a workable solution to the every increasing problem of funding care for the elderly. OK they are mostly made up of wealthy public school educated people, however they the other parties are no different in this fact and they did provide the last state educated prime minister.

The Liberals have a decent economic strategy (a good proposed chancellor) and are now a viable option from that point of view. Their persistence in an immigration amnesty when all other countries have failed to make it work is dangerous and will count against them. Their aim to not upgrade trident is sensible but they are unable to even suggest a replacement. Experience has shown that new systems are far more costly than developments, especially in the field of defence.

UKIP have expanded from their one policy mentality. Their leader is a grade A bottom however, not a politician and whilst a partial withdrawal form Europe is sensible, their views are extreme and could endanger trade.

The Greens are not viable option for election but have done a huge job in improving the public's awareness, this is the greenest election ever and it's time that their MPs worked to improve major parties policies rather than struggle on.

The BNP actually have some decent policies regarding education and the NHS but that's where the sense ends.

If I've missed anyone out then tough you're not in it. For me it has always been a 2 party system. Labour's abject failure over the past 13 years has changed which two parties are electable, but one thing is for sure, if you're able to vote and decide not to, you can't feel justified in complaining when things go t1ts up.

Read this if you want to believe the Tories are nice and moderate and going to stick to their promises post-election. It's all a ruse and the idea that the 'big society' exists and volunteers will appear to do the job of the state is a joke. I don't want to run schools, I don't want to pick litter, I want to elect/pay someone to do that for me.

An interesting read. Not so sure the author is free from political bias. The problem is everything that is reported will have some sort of political spin and it's hard to make judgements without knowing the full facts. With regard to failed promises, I'm still waiting for my referendum on Europe:rolleyes:.

Well of course not but then none of them are. It's still shocking though how promises have been reneged on so easily and the people to suffer have been the most vulnerable. And this in a Tory council Dave holds up as a beacon.

Compared to the scare stories being pumped out by the right wing media mafia that article is positively neutral! I still can't work out why a group of multi-millionaire media moguls want a Tory government?

I've still not definitely made my mind up, other than to vote for a change.

No one offers a complete set of beliefs or policies that I agree with, so it will be a case of voting for the party that most satisfies my criteria. Maybe it is time to dump party politics and have some political reform.

If the torries get in then they will only last 1 term. People will once again see them for what they really are. They are an upper class party and why they get votes for the middle and working classes i dont know. First thing they will do when they get in is make tax cuts for the upper classes, what about the rest of us.

TBH whoever gets in is going to have to be pretty unpopular if anything is going to be sorted out. I'd be surprised if it's not a hung parliament that anyone's term lasts more than once.

I'm a fan of alternating parties, that way they don;t get long enough to bugger anything up:biggrin:

As you can guess for my last few posts i will be voting labour. I dont know why, but alot of people dont like to say who they vote for. If you can be proud about what football team you support, why cant it be the same for what party you support. If you vote for party that you are ashamed to vote for, then why vote for them in the first place.

Labour in there time in charge have put more policemen on the street, and rebuilt the NHS. They have also brought in the minimum wage, and made sure all young children are guaranteed a nursery place. People say its has been 13 years of rubbish. If thats the case why did Labour win 3 elections with 2 of those being landslide victories.

It's been an interesting thread which has turned into quite a valid policy debate.

I initially posted to see how the forum demographic would reflect the swing away from general public poll opinion.

That being in general, more male, younger and probably less financially well off than the average for the electorate. As such a swing away from the Tories was expected.

Looking at the current poll results
    Conservative 24.66%
    Labour 20.55%
    Lib Dem 32.88%

Is this still Hung parliament territory?

Lib Dems in the low 30's. i think for a majority it needs to be in high 30's percentage wise, why thats the case in the real election.

Its been an interesting thread maybe a new poll should be made, and called the exit poll. Ask only those who have voted, or those who will vote in the real election to vote on the poll. I'm not surpised that lib dems got the most votes on here, as there are alot of young people on here, and lib dems are now with the kids. I wonder how many of the people who voted lib dems on the poll can actually vote.

Not a person to keep up to date with politics myself. I have the smallest of interests in politics but if I understand correctly, the Lib Dem's immigration policy is f**ked upon a whole new scale?

Lib Dem's have quite a lead in the poll above and Mr Nick Who? has become hugely more popular from the recent television debates.

Here's to hoping the right party wins and voters vote for the party they actually know a thing about and don't follow the media/crowd.

I love the fact that I'm not centre or centre-left and that this probably annoys people! (who knows I could be a communist...)

So any predictions for the result then? I have a feeling the Conservatives might sneak a surprising 20 or 30 seat majority. If I'm wrong I'll be the first to hold my hands up though and admit that!

Spitting is the lowest of the low, but I actually found that quite amusing.

I wonder if Mr Baily would have been so quick to throw punches if his 'mates' were not there to back him up.

Actually more like 44% of the vote for Lib Dems to get in compared to circa 34% for Labour.
