Only once ever have I requested assistance/support from my local MP, (David Gaulk, Conservative). I still have the letter basically saying he couldn't give a ****. I pray he knocks at my door.

You can guess who I won't be voting for.

Ah problems with a Tory eh? My local one, who lives on my road, called me a c**t after his paper was delivered late... I was merely a 14 year old kid. I know it's him as on the last local election slip it said his address and he was down the local hut meeting voters on the night.

Guess who I won't be voting for....

Our MP has always been helpful (Mike Penning, Tory).

Rickmansworth Schools. 1997/98 was an unussually high birth rate year and it was obvious from year 3 that this particular year were going to overload local secondary school places when they left middle school after year 6. Add to this that kids from Northwood and Harrow are given 6 choices for secondary schools compared to Hertfordshires 3 choices, and are allowed to apply for places at schools outside of their own borough. Everyone around this way knew that it would be h3ll trying to get their kid into secondary schools of their choice last year, (and h3ll was exactly the right word).

Many of us wrote to the local MP a year in advance. His reply? Diversity is healthy for schools to thrive. Unfortunately he didn't give advice on why children from outside the borough weren't being encouraged to "diversify" the failing schools, but cherry picking the best ones.

Europe, the economy, employment, World Affairs etc etc all pale into insignificance when it comes to educating your child. As a parent that is the number one priority and Gaulk let everyone down, he was pathetic. The only person who truly faught our corner was a lady from Herts County Council, I forget her name but she was an OBE. I will dig it out later but she was a hero.

That's the lady. She was extremely helpful and supportive at a difficult time for many parents. She also helped the parents for action group campign sucessfully for a new school in the area.

So true. I ended up taking my local authority to the Ombudsman.

It should be used more. And it is justified to be used for more cases rather than giving criminal's a slap on the wrist.

The number of times persistent offenders go on to reoffend after minor sentences is staggering. It is these scroat's who commit the majority of crimes and give the police the greatest headache.

Tough on crime and the causes of crime ? What an empty promise that turned out to be. As for the LD's considering giving prisoners the right to vote, they need their heads examining.

Had to laugh at Brown's catastrophic error today!

The error being made, then the video of him 'head-in-hands' in a radio programme where his mutterings were played back to him, was all pure gold.

I'm glad that at least the MP's keep some perspective in these cases. I don't elect my representative to go sidelining the real issues and start fretting about whether some kid goes to Clement Danes or Ricky.

PR gaff to say the least, but why shouldn't MPs have negative opinions on crazy old gasbag hags from the ******** of nowhere?

Brown is just going through the motions. He knows he's got no chance in hell especially as the Lib dems won't work with him.

Maybe he should have taken a leaf out of Two Jags book and lamped her:biggrin:

  18. wfcmoog

    wfcmoog Tinpot

Of course the Lib Dems will work with him if there is a hung parliament. They just won't say that now.

We went through it all when my brother was applying and was given Durrants. We all got into Watford Boys in the end though. That was under the Conservatives though. Under Labour, we'd have probably got William Penn.

You have to do it as a parent or you've no idea, you'll think it was just a bit of a bother that worked out in the end.

It really doesn't matter what colour the government is, good schools need good parents who recognise their role as a child's first educator and you can't vote for that.

This Gordon Brown/Bigot thing is such a mountain/molehill incident.

No surprise that it was Sky News' mic that was left on

Agree with the bit in bold.

Parents, shmarents. Anyone can write letters, ground kids and tell them off. It's the easiest job in the world. I can't understand why "mums" and "dads" expect some sort of respect for having kids when the world's already over populated.

I really cant see why so many people want to vote for the lib dems. I guess its just a protest vote.

My thinking is that Cleg was quite presentable on telly. People are fed up with the disaster that was Labour, but can't bring themselves to vote for the Tories who are perceived as being out for themselves and the rich.

I'm genuinely worried that a hung parliament will mean that nothing that is needed will get done.

You can say Labour was a disaster, but they were much better then the torries. I dont see how a party with no experience is going to be any better. Alot of the lib dems policies seem to be naive, and if they got in power i would expect them to do alot of backtracking and going back on there word.

need a new poll to see if peoples minds have changed, maybe keep it private and ask who did you vote for, dunno if there is a way of banning under 18's from voting on poll so as not to **** it up.
