Finished my second season (first season in Prem) finished a very respectable 6th and into Europe. Nathan Delfouneso was absolutely immense for me. Scored something like 38 goals in 39 appearances!!

In that situation I go for the agressive 'I'm not happy with your performance today'. Occasionally those who have a fairly high rating will react badly, in that case I address them seperately and say something along the lines of 'You were just unlucky out there tonight'. Seems to work most of the time.

I'd say it's a waste of £7 if you have the PC version. It's much more shallow - like playing the game in about 2003.

Anyone playing atm? I was doing well with Watford, but the lack of progress was frustrating. 25k seater stadium, and I can't even get 21k for most premier league games. I started a new game on the new patch with Athletic Bilbao. Very enjoyable, as you can only sign Basque players and I have always placed great emphasis on youth in FM. Haven't played in a while though due to the uni workload!

yes i still play. currently in my 5 season as watford manager. after spending two seasons in the mid-table of the championship, i was promoted via the playoffs at the third attempt. my team of young stars performed well above their means in my first season in the prem as i finished 7th with 59 points. currently in my fifth season i sit 6th in the prem and in the league cup quarter finals. my stadium is also 25k now, and it is filled to capacity week in week out.

signed a young wonderkid called karlo sacer for 250k in my third season, now played 50 games and scored 30 goals. the rest of my strike force consists of danny graham, jordan rhodes and ola toivanon (scored 15 goals in 20 games for me so far). gregg wylde is awesome in the middle of the pitch alongside murray, scott parker, buaben and a regen called danny hooper (touted as the next nobby stiles).

Have Watford been taken over on your game?

Haven't had a play on FM for a while. School has had to take priority. As soon as this semester is done at the end of April, I'll be looking to get back into it for the summer.

Quite intrigued by the Bilbao job, never really delved into Spain though. France has always been my destination of choice when it comes to FM. Had numerous successful forays into France over the years, with FC Sochaux, Marseille and most recently FC Metz.

Another favorite of mine is the U21 challenge. A friend and me created it at Uni and it ended up consuming our lives. Basic rules, obviously you can only buy U21's and anybody in your squad over 21 at the start of the season has to be sold to fund the purchase of your new squad. We both ended up doing about 14 seasons in our respective games. We'd sit around from 12pm until 4am with our laptops, beer and Band of Brothers on the TV, urging each other on towards success. Glorious days.

no, my chairman keeps paying off any debts that i accumulate too.

    haha that sounds quite interesting.

ive always thought a forum network game would be a good idea, maybe an hour or so three times a week for competitors.

Luke that sounds ace mate. Respect for watching BOB. Quite possibly my favourite ever tv series.

The Athletic job is certainly a very interesting one. December 2011 and I'm sitting 3rd in the table, 3 pts behind Barcelona and Valencia. Just confirmed the signing of Cesar Azpilicueta from Marseille for £12m (he's a Spanish former U21 right back).

It's a really good team to manage you know. Good finances, great facilities, and a new 53k seater stadium being built in real life, which on the new patch is in the game.

One of the things I find most appealing about Athletic is that I want to topple the dominance of Barcelona and Madrid. You start off with a very good team in the game too, and definite potential to get champions league at the end of the 1st season.

Plus, Diego Forlan is part-Basque, so Athletic are eligible to sign him in the game. What's not to like?

Just gone into feb 2023 on mine. My career saw me promoted and relegated with Watford, hired and sacked (harshly) by West Brom and then taking Las Palmas to Liga Adelante glory. Now i've been in the Athetico Madrid job for five years and i've won everything, with a chairman who gives me what money I want.

Getting bored though so might have to move back to England for some unfinished premier league business.

Sounds decent Russ. Head back home and take over the world again.

Looking to get back into the game on the new patch having had a little break (a couple of weeks) - Had just finished getting Huddersfield to champions league glory, looking for a new challenge now - anyone got any worthy recommendations?

I have not been able to get into the new version at all, it may have something to do with the lack of available lower division jobs in England, but not keen on the new layout either.

an interesting yet nigh on impossible challenge in one of the former games was the san marino challenge. you had to get the only team in san marino that plays in the italian league to be champions league winners whilst also getting san marino to the world cup finals.

this challenge is possible as after 3 years (or 5) players that played for san marino fc (nt sure of the clubs name) became eligible to play for san marino on an international basis. i read about this challenge once, never attempted it, never heard if anyone made it or not.

Thanks Optimistic but I had a 9 year save doing that challenge last year, was very hard but got somewhere near to success - XML parsing error killed that one off. I was considering FC Metz but after yesterday i've decided to go for Ipswich, after years of underachievement I reckon I can take them places! Will post mini updates in here.

Had a change of heart, wasn't low down enough for me - Grimsby it is!

Finally got the update and an entry level job in England was available, Hereford Utd. Usually start lower down but hey thought would give it a try. First season my board wanted me to 'enjoy the challenge of competing in the Npower League 2'. After a rough start finished 17th in the end and never looked like going down. Second season finished fourth on the final day as Swindon got a late winner at Burton to finish third, lost on penalties to Colchester in the playoff final despite twice taking the lead in a 2-2 draw. This season has been a massive dissapointment and looks set to end in a midtable finish, going to have a big clear out in the summer.

Managing Watford. I'm in my 8th season in charge now.
1st season: 4th in Championship - lost in playoff semis.
2nd season: 2nd in Championship - 2 points off first.
3rd season: 13th in the Premiership
4th season: 7th in the Premiership - Qualified for Euro due to cup winners.
5th season: 6th in the Premiership - Qualified for Euro cup. Quarter Final of Euros.
6th season: 6th in the Premiership - Qualified for Euro cup. Lost in Semi Finals of Euros. and Lost in Finals of League Cup.
7th season: 1st in the Premiership - Won the League cup. Lost in Euro cup Quarter finals.
Also have won the Community shield this season over Man U. I won 5-3 after being 4-0 up and it shockingly went to 4-3. I am still only in "favoured personnel". I guess I haven't won that much, but neither did GT who is a legend (rightly so!)
I keep to young talent and free transfers - the most I spent on a transfer was 13.5mil for Oscar and the average age of my league winning side was just 23. I play in a 4-1(CM)-3(RW, AM, LW)-2(Poachers) Here is my current line-up. Not that you will recognise any of them as they are mostly randomly generated!

He is a random gen. Hahaha thanks for pointing that out though. Never even realised it. I guess that's why he plays so well for me as a limited defender in the role of stopper. Absoulte tank!
