I love Football Manger but a ridiculous amount of their stat/attribute choices are absolutely woeful, even for the big name players, and I end up spending more time editing than playing the actual game. FIFA is far better at accurately rating players.

 

Inconsistency continues -

L 5-0 vs. Peterborough
W 2-1 @ Southampton

Basically the trend seems to be lose to the teams who you should beat and beat the teams you should lose to. Getting annoying.

 

The fact that all loanees return after the season ends is putting me off playing it as Watford, so I've started a new game.

 

Same for me.

W 5-0 V Crawley
L 3-1 V Peterborough
W 4-0 v Leeds
L 2-1 v Charlton.

I'm playing 4-5-1 or if losing a 4-2-3-1.

 

For anyone who's thinking of buying, the demo has just been released.

 

Enjoying the demo in all fairness, haven't changed much. Playing a 4-2-3-1 seems relatively effective, first league game won 3-0 away at Forest, before a 3-1 home defeat to Leicester including Eustace getting sent off, and Almunia dropping the ball over the line.... Didn't think we still had Loach...

 

Just got the demo, are they sh*tting me with some of these stats? Vydra is woefully bad/wrong. Even things like Ronaldo only having 16 acceleration and 18 flair? Come on now.

 

Vydra is poor, yes. Apart from that though, I think they've been quite fair on the Watford squad to be honest. The players at the club at the start of the game are more than capable of getting promoted. I've just played my first competitive game and have no intention of making any signings. I've sold about 700k worth though.

 

It's not just players being generally underrated or overrated though, some of them are just plain wrong. Like you say, collectively the squad may be about the right strength, but individually the stats are all over the place, and that applies to a lot of players and teams, not just Watford.

FM should employ me as an editor.

 

I've played about 5 games now on Beta, and have started terribly. Almunia is awful. Every team I've lost against has an email after saying "So and so strike lucky" - Highly annoying.

 

Researchers aren't employed, they're volunteers, and you can't blame Vydra's poor stats on the Watford researcher as he wasn't with Watford last season when the work was done for FM13, he didn't even play last season due to injury iirc so it would have been difficult judging his abilities anyway.

I don't believe anyone should have a 20 in anything anyway, but that's me.

There's also only so much the researchers can get away with when submitting, if the guys in the studio feel that what's been given is over the mark, they reject it or scale it down.

 

I started a game with Watford on the pre-release version, ended up quitting it because at the end of the first season all the loanees leave so I can't be bothered with that inaccuracy, I'll wait for full release and stick fees to buy them permanently for £0 in with the editor.

Started a new one with Palace instead, doing ok so far, flirting with the playoffs and Zaha is ripping it up.

 

By the way, if you think Vydra is poor on the game and want to complain, speak to the Udinese researcher and not the Watford one. His stats are nothing to do with Watford, it's the Udinese researcher that sorts it out.

 

Started with the 'orns and have sold ****o, Emu and Bennet. Have loaned Bond, Whichelow, Jenkins, Mingoia, Smith and McGinn. Desperately trying to offload Forsyth and Buaben to raise some more funds.

Tried to get Chopra but that would have cost me a mill, decided against it.

First 2 competitive games a 1-0 loss to Torquay, C1 Cup, and beat Forest away 1-0. Tasty.

 

No need now. Any future changes to his stats will be done by the Watford researcher. Nothing to gain from complaining to the Udinese researcher, he isn't going to be able to change anything now.

 

Is there any differences or bugs ironed out between the pre-release version and official release?

 

The pre-release is being treated like a full version, so any bugs reported will come out in updates, and then patches.

On my current game I got sacked, and ended up falling down the ladder and getting a team relegated from the blue square south and i cant find any jobs now.

 

4 games in and doing really well. FF and Geijo are on fire. 3 wins out of 4 including the Forest Away 1-0, Bristol City Away, turning 2-1 down into 3-2 win, and beating Bolton away 3-1 having been 1 down at half time. Away form is sensational ha.

Signed Skjelbred on loan for 26k a month, an absolute bargain and scored on his debut as a sub against Bolton. Also brought in Martin from norwich, the striker, to give me some more options. Finally sold Bauben while Bauben, Hamilton-Forbers, Connoly, Tumwa, Thompson, Forsyth, Mensah and Byers all left on loan. Squad looks so good! Mankys Baaaardiff up next.

 

5 games in and I'm sitting in 11th place.

Played 5, won 2, drawn 2, lost 1.

Lost to Forest away, drew with Leicester at home, beat Brizzle City away, drew with Bolton away and just beat Cardiff 3-1 at home

I'm now into September and have made no signings by the way. I haven't sent back any of the loanees either. Vydra actually does a decent job for me upfront as well. Give him a try I say!

The Watford squad you start with has a lot of depth and quality for this league and you should be challenging for promotion come the end of the season. Also, if you're annoyed with the loanees not wanting to go back on loan to Watford for a 2nd season, just go on the editor when you buy the game and make them into 3 yr loans.

 

I played a season at Blackpool and managed to get them into the play-offs. Watford managed it as well but we both lost in our semi-finals. Weirdly, I can not seem to play a second season, it gets to first pre-season game and then won;t go any further. Is this just settings before full release?

 

hey guys im pretty much a seasoned FM player, at the moment im second in the championship with watford. I dont see how people are struggling to offload player and bring players in.

Bressan - Free (MUST SIGN offer him the highest of everything otherwise he wont come, i.e top division rise 50%, literally everything)

Geijo has 23 goals after 34 apps, rating 7.38
Zaha has 20 goals in 30 games , rating 7.35

Playing 4-4-2 all season, payign careful attention to whaat tactics other teams concede most goals too when playing them pays dividens.

P.s Vydra is better than he looks, and can chip in important goals, and also Abdi is a moody git! so hard to man manage!

Also your team will always be inconsistent at the start, stick with them and they should come good

 

Are you on the demo or the pre-released version?

 

Just put my order in after finding a cheeky deal online, picking it up for the equivalent of 18 quid. One class left this evening and then I'll be heading home to get on it.

Had a little play on the demo, not really taking it seriously, just getting a feel for the new features and so far I've been fairly impressed. Won't start out as Watford purely because I'd like to use the editor to make it a little more realistic with the loan players.

Interested in whether people use classic tactics or the tactic creator. I've never used the creator thing before really, but considering giving it a go this time. What do people who use it creator think? If anybody uses it at all?

 

Pre released. Just re-started it though and it worked.

Strange thing just happened, I got appointed England manager. Quit Blackpool at end of the season after failing in play-offs again and have been appointed as manager. Very weird!

 

Anyone know when the editor is out and how to get it? I used FMRTE last year, but it seems you have to make a donation to use it now? Will is be the same for the new edition?

Started afresh now the full version is out with Aston Villa. Literally only played for 20 minutes so far. They aren't that bad, there's just not a lot of depth & quite a few kids in the side. Also got about 4/5 players injured for 2-3 months on arrival.

70k worth of wages to play with p/week & a transfer budget of £0. Going to have to have a word with Randy Lerner about increasing the % of player sales made available on the off-chance I do manage to flog anyone.

Offered contracts to free agents Royston Drenthe, Craig Gordon and Nigel Reo-Coker - who is surprisingly decent.

 

I put in the disc and install it and everything and yet when i click play it still is running the beta version? I tried the uninstall and reinstall trick but it didn't help.

Do i have to uninstall it all from the control panel bit instead of steam?

 

I'm not telling you, because you use FMRTE.

My edited files aren't showing up in the game though, what am I doing wrong?

I go to the editor make all the changes, then click save editor data, and save that file into the right place, launch the game click the database changes and only some changes show up like finance ones not the player attribute changes.

 

Out of interest, why change the finance ones?
