I saw a fistful of dollars last night, and the shining tonight.

Very scary indeed. In fact the scariest I think i've ever seen.

Fistful of dollars, a classic spaghetti western, one of my favourites. Truely brilliant film, and I love the ending.

Instead of thinking about individual films, consider seeing movies in terms of the filmmakers behind them? Their vision, their sense of style, eye for composition, the quality of their dialogue, things like that make seeing groups of their films interesting.

    Akira Kurosawa
    Stanley Kubrick
    Jim Jarmusch
    David Lynch
    Clint Eastwood

All these guys have really pretty consistent styles and commonalities across their work, though some films are better than others.

    Who else you got?

    Sergio Leone.
    Stanley Kubrick

Why is it that almost all directors are men?

Anyway, I love Sergio Leone, he deserves a mention purely for the spaghetti western trilogy.

No doubt. I love his work. It is like eating a whole sack of crisps...you know it's not that good for you, but it is ****ing awesome!

    Very much so.

Sometimes you just long to be able to have the time to sit down, and watch all three of the dollars trilogy in one day, with a cold pint and endless supplies of bacon butties.

I watched a film called Slackers. I can't believe that professional, adult human beings could have come up with such a pile of crap.

I could understadn if it were juvenile, chimp, amateur enthusiasts.

Agreed I can see why it was banned in the 70's I think it was. I have seen it a few times and I still haven't got a fecking clue what they are saying.

It's mind alteringly subversive. It has really become more brilliant in my eyes as the years have gone by.

Yeh, the dialogue is brilliant - eggyweggs

Stanley Kubrick is a legend, its become a cult classic.

You know when he took those two girls home, and he had sex with them, then they were getting dressed and then did he rape them, or did they change their minds and get undressed again?

Transformers 3 at Imax in 3D. I felt like my eyes were going to bleed. so much to take in. Better than number 2 not sure if it was better than the 1st. Special effects were really good and acting was really bad but thats to be expected. The bit with the wing suits was awesome.

The Adjustment Bureau - Dissapointing, nothing like I expected, it's basically just a romance with a sprinkle of Inception to it - 6.5/10

Oh, also I saw it a couple of weeks ago and forgot to ask if anyone had seen/bought 'Monsters'?

The cover reads "Thrilling", "Jaw Dropping" and "Action Packed". What a load of old sh*t. There's more action and thrills in an episode of the f**king Teletubbies. No real story, no memorable events or characters and most definitely no dropping of the jaw (except maybe in amazement when you realise you've wasted a tenner on it). Probably one of the most boring films I've ever seen, and certainly the most falsely advertised one.

3/10 and that is being very, very kind.

Just saw this myself, it was a brilliant film but I felt it lacked something. I did see myself and some of my friends in it though.

Last night I watched the "Sixth Sense" with Bruce Willis, if you do get a chance, watch it, it's a good film.
Don't miss the start or you won't get the ending.

Trailer out for the new spiderman reboot. I think it's going to be rubbish. You have a 28 year old Andrew Garfield playing a 15 year old Peter Parker. They're clearly trying to make it quite 'Twilighty', so basically sh**

Hmm, others have said it but they can't put their finger on what.

    Agreed, a brilliant film

I think is that I didn't feel empathy for some of the character's death's. Like one of the Weasley's had one line and the next scene they were lying on a stretcher. And where did Hagrid come from?

He's not meant to be 15, he's meant to be a university student in his early 20's, and how does it look anything like Twilight?

  32. TheDon

He's meant to be in High School still, which is when he discovers his powers.
I don't like the look of the new suit, and I just can't warm to him as Spiderman, he doesn't look like a Peter Parker to me

Actually, you're right. Does seem a bit silly that a 28 year old man is playing the role of a 16/17 year old, but then again the whole idea of a 16/17 year old being a superhero in itself seems a bit strange.

I think Garfield was a decent choice, he looks younger than he is and is more tall and wirey like Spider-Man has always been portrayed than short and stocky Toby Maguire.

I also think the new suit is much better, it looks more gritty and realistic. If you look at the Toby Maguire suit now it looks ridiculous, its too clean and perfect looking.

That just looks silly to me now.

    Much better.

I agree that Fred's death was underplayed, I barely noticed it, but I did enjoy the film.

Bridesmaids was very odd and seemed more like a series of short sketches that didn't really hang together. I was looking forward to a good laugh and was largely disappointed.
