Ok, that was an amazing game. Man Utd's comeback not once, but twice I think they deserved it overall. Rashford really should of scored that one on one before it went into ET. Liverpool can have no complaints tonight, it was a breath taking game.

Correct. I genuinely don’t understand why people don’t love the FA Cup any more. For me knockout football can’t be beaten for drama.

20 goals in the four quarter finals (including 13 today). Man United weren’t that good but dug deep and found the winner with Liverpool being so wasteful. Man City would have won that comfortably.

ITV describing it as “Klopp’s farewell tour” and that match ending the way it did was hilarious. The media are desperate for Liverpool to win something so Klippity Klopp can ride off into the sunset with one final trophy. It’s embarrassing

I liked the low key semi-final draw. Never saw the need to have the pomp and pageant as at previous cup draws.

Coventry have a real chance of beating Manure. I know they won today but they gave Liverpool so many chances to win that game. Coventry will no doubt play the game like it was the final and really come at them I'm betting. Man City vs Chelsea is all a bit meh, but Chelsea vs Coventry would be a great final.

No shock the semi final matches generated the best chance of an all-Manchester final.

Klopp didn’t take the line of questioning from one interviewer it seems.

Ian wright shouldn't be solely in charge of the draw though! "Just putting my hand in the ball sack", "not looking, not looking!".

Do you think they forgot they were doing it and then mustered something together last minute?

Either that or they weren’t expecting the game to go to extra time which is silly as that’s always a possibility. More likely they did indeed forget though

It began when Man United, (the holders at the time), decided that a Fifa Club World Championship in South Africa was more important than defending the cup. W**kers.

Partly due to the FA wanting them to so we could get votes for hosting the world cup in 2006.

    Which never happened of course.

However it happened, it was a disgrace. The FA following the lead set by the old Football League and selling their soul.

Some great games over the weekend but the draw shows how unimportant the cup has become to the football authorities these days.

They probably just couldn’t be bothered to set up a room and stand at Wembley but yes did seem a bit rushed or ad hoc .

The way he lobbed the bag away at the end would have every one of the old blazer brigade rolling in their graves.

‘Great games’ that mean exactly nothing in the grand scheme of things. All end in the same destination, losing to a financially doped team in the final.

Sure, there will be a typical subset of supporters who will ‘enjoy the day out’ but none of it matters. For the TV companies it’s essentially a big 6 super tournament with a few whipping boys thrown in for the armchair fans enjoyment and contempt. Another symptom of the rotting corpse that is English football.

When it moves to TNT Sports exclusively from 2025, general interest, like it has with the Champions League will start to die off. And not soon enough.

Yes I agree entirely with the sentiment but it's difficult not to watch the 3-4 mins highlights of that W vs CC game and think that must have been a hell of a spectacle to have watched live.

It's only three years since Leicester won it.

Also, what you say applies only to the later rounds of the competition. There are plenty of supporters of 'little' clubs who still enjoy the earlier rounds.

This is true though I couldn't tell you the winners since. The problem for us as WFC fans is that we aren't small enough to enjoy the thrill of a game against a prem side given our recent history, nor are we big enough to stand any chance of winning it.

Yes of course, I'm talking about our situation now. Back then we had a small chance of winning it given we were the 7th-11th best team in the land so mildly exciting from the start of the competition. Even then we were more likely to suffer a huge defeat in the final than win 1-0.

It's just a shame the final never happened. We'll never know how we'd have done against City given the chance.

That’s why I specifically mentioned a subset of supporters that would ‘enjoy the day out’. If you want to win it and you don’t support one of the big boys, you won’t. Only 3 times since Everton won it in 1995 has it been won by a team not considered the ‘big 6’. 3 times in nearly 30 years.

OK, but my point was that there might be as much enjoyment (probably more) in a non-league team turning over a Championship team in Round 3 as there is for Citeh or Chelsea supporters winning the whole thing. That's not a 'subset' of supporters of those teams and for that reason I don't agree that it makes it likely that the Cup will die off.

I suppose I am saying that the 'health' of a competition is not determined solely by how varied the winners are.

Big teams get through as they field the strongest sides as have better squad depth ?

The great ‘winners vs taking part’ conundrum. I think we’re not far apart in our views actually. It’s a competition for ‘underdog’ stories early on, once you get past that and to the later rounds it’s pretty soulless and reverts to type. A dying competition in a dying sport domestically.

But even those underdog stories are becoming less frequent and disappearing. It won’t be long until there’s no replays from the 3rd round onwards. The money in the tournament isn’t worth it for the big boys and as soon as they’ve had enough, it’ll be downgraded massively.

Unfortunately the mid table/bottom do seem to treat the competition as second best I feel which I guess is exactly what people mean by the cup being disrespected and becoming a closed shop .

I didn’t even watch all of that, I left before the defiant flag waving started. Have never watched a minute of the tv broadcast.

lol, defiant flag waving. ‘We’ll be back’. Those were the days.

I have watched up to the 24th(?) minute. Looks like we played pretty well. I remember whispering to Mrs TuT in the stadium "That's a quarter of the match gone, so far so good, looks like it's going to be pretty close".
TBF I think most fans waved their flags "for something to do". It was that or a mexican wave.
Luckily the club wasn't that interested in winning anyway which was why we played our reserve "great bloke" keeper.
