Not strictly the case as the seer could have viewed the tinker, and the alpha could have (unknowingly, unless they named themselves) named an evil as good.

    The tinker shows as evil

Fair point! Very very unlikely but not 100% confirmed. Seer picking tinker 1/16 chance plus alpha naming another evil (let's presume wouldn't name themself) 3/16 chance.

Edit: Forget that, just seen Moog's post above. Of course the tinker shows as evil so can't be relevant.

Based on that terrible advice, I'm leaning towards voting for Tom. Anyone wanna join the bandwagon?

Been working and could not get work laptop to accept the forum as a suitable site (says a lot :p)

Named on day 1 yikes. Probably not a good thing either way.

Hello everyone! RIP Mike. Have to admit I have been out all morning and forgot the game was starting today. Interesting to come back and find that I’ve been named in a message although, as Steve says, being named so early probably doesn’t bode well for potential longevity in the game. As for the messages, who knows? I know I’m good but that doesn’t mean message 2 is any more or less likely to be the Seer’s. What it does mean is that neither Steve nor I are likely to be the Alpha as I think it would be way too risky for the Alpha to name themselves on Day 1. The other thing I would say is that we shouldn’t get too distracted by any codes in the anonymous messages. As Mike (RIP) pointed out in the last game, a wolf is just as capable of creating a “code” as the seer is - the code will probably only become relevant later in the game if or when the seer needs to prove a message is theirs.

Also, since I think we all need a drink after Mike’s demise, I’ll volunteer to be the landlady of the village hostelry “The Slaughtered Lamb” and offer everyone a drink on the house tonight.

Sinatra still hasn't commented - and if I'm not mistaken, this seems to be a regular thing with him in the first days of a game?

Still four of these to post I think, unless I've missed any.

I'll be the local council enforcement officer for anything that irritates me. Parking on the pavement and leaving bins in the street after collection just 2 of the irksome things that are I'm told turning me into Victor Meldrew.

We have a concrete list of roles this time. Along with numbers of each. Seems very firm. and roles are very well defined for all to see
This will be an advantage to team good.

However it strikes me that we have Seer listed as x1 I read that as no backup

Also we all need to be mindful of suspicions and roles from the last, very recent, game consciously or subconsciously creeping in.

'The seer gets one view and message a day. There is no designated back up seer. If the seer dies in the first few days, they will be replaced by the witness, who will retain their witness ability (see below) plus will be able to make one view and message a day. If the seer dies after the first few days, the admin will use their discretion as to whether a back-up seer is introduced.'

mike said that the witness would become the seer if the seer is taken out before the witness.

Just noticed there are no masons this time around which makes it slightly harder for the village (albeit masons only really come to the fore if they all survive for a while).

But definitely agree that knowing the roles helps us, confusion only helps evil.

Afternoon! Completely forgot about this alongside not checking the forum in general whilst there’s no Watford footie.

    Brief overview anyone?

Being a Mason was somewhat useful last time as it at least helps you deduct one name from your own list of potential evil!

Tom had the stench of an Evil player but I knew he wasn’t so in that sense it’s pretty useful.

    Options for today then:

    1. Lynch an inactive. @miked2006 - will people be killed off? I'm assuming they will but don't think you said in your rules. Or do they get a free pass on Day 1 as sometimes happens?

    2. Lynch one of the two named players. As discussed one will definitely be good as there's no role where the Seer would view an evil as good.

    3. Lynch a random active player. Unless someone makes an absolute howler (wolf pun intended), we're unlikely to just find someone evil from gameplay on Day 1.

    1. seems the only sensible/fair option at the moment to me. If the remaining three players post then it's a tougher call.

Glad we got the messages early, shame they haven't revealed much.

I like both types of game - on one hand, the games with lots of left field roles are very entertaining; however, they are very hard games to play well in as you can’t really follow logic when you have no clue what roles are in play.

NGL I'd probably be suggesting option 2 if I wasn't named!

The games with the surprise twists and turns are like cheesy soap operas where things can just get turned on their head and throw everyone off.

The "classic" games are much more a test of logic and deduction.

    Both enjoyable in different ways.

Well, if the final two inactive posters contribute, might well be coming back to Option 2!

So it's Ashdon and Opti who remain inactive so far? Both experienced players who have had key roles in more recent games.

I probably should have sent a tag when starting today's game. So final call for:

    @Optimistichornet
    @AshdonWFC

If players do not post and vote on day 1, I will flip a coin.

If heads, they will be killed off. If tails, they will not be able to be protected by the guardian that evening but will live to fight another day.

From day 2 onwards, any missed vote will pretty much be an automatic instakill. If there is a very good excuse (very exceptional circumstances!), I'll re-apply the above.

Is this game set in the 1800's? If so me and HH24 are wearing one of these....

Or quite possibly something very similar. For the men of the village...

Very dapper I must admit. :)
