Going to give Asprilla slight mitigation, it looks like he just mistimed his jump a little, it's obviously not a big part of his game heading the ball. Ince's chance he did poorly with, but there was a man charging at him to block, so not the worst miss, but Bayo man, it looked as if he didn't trust his left foot, but really, I'd have backed myself to score in that position! Still, it's good that he's always able to put the bad missed behind him and get into more good positions

They showed a bit but only as he was being carted off. Presumably as a salutary lesson to the rest of us. Before that it was just zoomed in on the ref and Porteous having a laugh watching it for a minute or so.

If you'd have offered me a point at kickoff, I'd probably have taken it, even against a patched up Cardiff side, and with QPR losing embarrassingly and Wednesday and Udders drawing, it's made me a lot more confident that there are at least 3 teams worse than us in this division, but we should have won that really. Big run of games before the next international break, with Wednesday, Rotherham and Huddersfield to come, and because our games after that international break are much harder

They have been correct though. And those same people have been lectured and hectored (and in some cases abused) by the Pozzo footmen so it’s easy to see why they are now enjoying being proved right .

This arena having more enlightened participants, I can sit smugly safe in the knowledge that people know I was right and look on me as a wise old Mr Miyagi.

I agree they are correct, but does it not seem a hollow victory? Wanting to be proved correct about how badly perceived the current situation is?

    Genuine questions btw.

We will have our day. The other Bayo Haters are too impatient. I'm happy to bide my time for a truly abject performance which costs us a loss and then I'll be coming back to all of you on this thread who've defended him and rubbing your ******* faces in it.

Doesn’t help we are trying to compare him to other poor strikers in average teams .

Worry is I think Wesley (not Hoedt as someone thought!) was probably a big target in the summer .

I don’t think anyone doubts Bayo does try and probably is one who cares but sometimes you have to take the rough with the smooth.

Guess he didn’t let that miss get to him and scored eventually whilst playing fairly ok apparently.

I saw that Asprilla thing from just the one angle on a YouTube highlights clip. Looked like the ball was going in and he cleared it off the line with his fifty pence head.

If we had 11 players putting in the effort Bayo does we would be midtable.
Much prefer him to Davis although that is not much of a compliment!

It’s an interesting question. I genuinely believe the Pozzo ownership has caused a huge divide in the fanbase that will not be healed for many many years after he is gone. We are no longer united and our disdain for each other is huge. This leads to endless arguments (here has been relatively civil the last 2 years but twitter remains volatile) and people end up with personal vendettas across the fanbase.

Without wanting to push my own agenda I think this is caused by having such an opaque, arrogant owner. He divides opinion hugely.

I must say I wasn't too disappointed when I heard we missed out on Wesley! Bayo does miss his fair share of sitters, and he doesn't offer that much outside of his goals, but 3 in 10 (4 in 11 in all comps) plus an assist isn't a bad tally so he's doing something right

I'm not so sure. I think a new, competent owner would unite things pretty quickly. Much as I hate saying it, that bunch of c*nts up the M1 have great ownership and we could all behind similar very fast.

At the moment, the pro-Pozzo base seems to be made up of those that want to be seen as "supporting through thick and thin" and see it as a cyclical thing rather than the fact that Pozzo has ruined us. Also there are those that simply don't want it to be true, so back the owners.

The biggest group is probably the apathetic. Won't rock the boat and are more inclined to drift off than get vocal.

A lot of my mates are of the opinion that it's not great, but there we are. Not sure they want to scratch the surface.

Fair play to Ismael. If clogging up the midfield with Livermore and Kayembe – the footballing equivalent of stuffing fistfuls of toilet paper into the U-bend – means they're less easy to slice through and makes it more likely to pick up a point here and there, we can put up with that.

To be fair Asprilla put Bayo clean through last week with a wonderful ball and he took it round the keeper and missed again. Bayo was also played in during the first half yesterday and he ended up dragging his shot nowhere near the goal.

Bayo is a much more likable character and player than Gray ever was. Sure, both have/had their limitations, but with Bayo you know eventually he will score. That brilliant goal he scored pre-season in training is just something he is capable of doing. It's very rare to find a striker who can hit the ball cleanly with both feet, and I am in no way making an excuse for his glaring misses, but the fact he generally needs an extra touch to put the ball on his favoured foot will allow the perfect shot to go awry, and he needs to learn to just smash the ball in the goal whether or not it rolls across his left or right foot. Get it on target at least, we've seen a few "daisy cutters" go in from a weaker foot after all.

Social media divide everybody about everything. If we had SEJ as owner and GT running the team there would still be vicious arguments about whether we were right to let Ross Jenkins or George Reilly go.

If you watch the extended highlights it looks like their keeper got a bit of a glove to it, which slowed the 'pace' of it down a tad...

And Apsrilla created sod all today. So in two games Bayo has had 4 opportunities, 2 created by his own endeavours and scored two. In those same two game Asprilla has created one chance.

We aren't very good, but the relentless hammering of one striker working his nuts off whilst letting others off the hook is a bit peculiar to me.

It seems obsessive (not aimed at you in particular) but the fact some people are even finding fault with the goal he scored is just so strange. It isn't like he is missing chance after chance that are being put on a plate for him. He has had four good opportunities in the last two games and scored two...if he was capable of scoring all 4 he wouldn't be at Watford.

Bayo just has a lack of balance and this shows up at certain points.
You can't fault his effort, but the failure to balance his body will make him feel that he is playing on ice.
The goal against Boro, he took many touches when a good player would have taken one touch.
He tries hard, but he is not an instinctive finisher.

Yesterday we created a few chances and scored one a huge improvement on the previous game when I don’t think we created any, In less than three days and a lot of miles travelled that was an improvement.

Now let’s please beat Sheff Weds in two weeks!

I was hoping we'd have signed him ahead of Rajovic, Sory Kaba etc as I always remember seeing him start to find form after his poor start at AV before his horrific injury so figured he was someone who just needed some gametime to show his worth. Was dead wrong.

It is not really peculiar. Bayo works hard but he’s evidently crap and misses sitters on a regular basis. This is what counts at the end of the day and it’s why fans get frustrated.

You can’t criticise his goal yesterday and work rate but he is a poor finisher.

I am not sure I agree with you regarding being capable of scoring all four of the chances as the two he did miss were basically open goals, you don’t need to be a premier league quality striker to score those type

No argument about being a relatively poor finisher. Think the argument is whether what he brings outweighs that negative and I'd say it does in spades. Rajovic is polar opposite and we look worse for it when he's up front by himself. You could certainly make the argument we should look at a 2 striker setup.

Yeah I think that injury did him in really, he played a lot in the Spanish 2nd tier last year (1500 mins) and still only managed 3 goals

We'd need to tell us what the xG was for the 4 chances combined, but I'm sure it wouldn't be 4.

After seeing the crud this league serves up on a regular basis over the early few months of the season I think you're over-estimating how clinical players still are.

I think even in the PL you might expect to see a typical striker who isn't Haaland not finish all 4 each time.

Definitely, I saw a coach on Twitter (sorry X..) recently say that top strikers should have a 30% conversion rate, I thought that still seemed high so looked at the data, out the top 5 leagues last season for strikers who played a min of 1200 mins - the best conversion rate was 33% shared between 2 players. Even Haaland was only at 25%. Top 10% was a 21% conversion rate, top 30% and its still only a 17% conversion rate
