Perhaps only twice this season, but it’s happened in other seasons too. My point in general is how on earth Kabasele has managed to gain any trust in the [many] managers that we’ve had, when he’s perhaps the most calamitous and pathetic excuse of a defender we have. Not just as a substitute, but when he’s starting too. He should have been released and ****ed off alongside Bayo and Manaj.
In short… Would I have taken a draw pre-match? Yes Was a draw probably a fair result? Yes Was it still a right kick in the balls? Yes Bachmann is sh*t. Sarr was sh*t. Hamza was superb. Urrrrgh
It was bizarre. About four defenders were attracted to the centre/ near post like moths to a lightbulb, and there was no one whatsoever at the back post. I’ve never seen it when every player is back defending. Either absolutely brainless defending or brainless tactics from our coaches. Probably a bit of both.
I think we all would of taken a point before the game, and overall I thought we played well considering the opposition. We pressed, harried, and defensivly looked solid. What a shambles at the back by them, and Pedro puts it away calmly. We didn't deserve the lead on balance, but hey we take it. Second half was always going to be backs-to-the-walls. And, just like Spurs, Swansea, Palarse, Reading etc. we cannot hold on. I do somewhat blame Kamara, but then again Sarr was stood in Kabasele's way. But c'mon, the ball bouced in the six yard box - smash it into row Z! We had a chance to clear it and nobody acted on it. That error aside, I thought it was a very brave performance and certainly a little pride restored after that. Three draws in a row and no win in six now for Bilic. Somehow thanks to Millwall losing we stay in the playoffs by our fingertips for another week at least. I think most of us audially moaned when Kabasele went off for JP, but we don't need him injured right now. Cleverley getting injured sums the season up really well. Wish him all the best obviously but he cannot catch a break. I think tonight was def. a free-hit as far as we are concerned. We may look back on this as the point that got us into the top six come May. Burnley will be more dissapointed than we are I think. We showed them up at times and they looked very leggy. Again, a sucker punch at the death takes two points from us, but in a game nobody expected us to win I am pleased with the point we did get. Ashley Barnes is a poor man's Zaha, and I really do like our new CB's - solid tonight overall.
Good point. Bit unfortunate but we were always going to ride our luck a bit to get something from this. It wouldn’t be Watford without the last minute drama. It’s in our DNA. I thought we’d win this, but a point is what we get. Still in the playoffs but will probably be around 8/9th once games in hand have all played out. I think this is where we rightfully are right now as a side. We’re an outside bet for a playoff place, nothing more than that. We’ve underachieve so far, but it’s no one’s fault but Gino for how this season has panned out to date.
Burnley and particularly that gob***** Barnes behaved in a nasty underhand way, which shows that we put them under pressure. They don’t like it up ‘em. Sickening finish, but I feel that I have experienced that so many times over the decades. I am totally fed up with Bachmann and Sarr. Even if we had held out for the win, I would have expressed this view. Davis also frustrating. All others did well and a draw away to Burnley is not a bad result, although it feels awful right now. Lost composure at the end. As others have stated, our keeper was way behind the goal line for the finish. Needed to punch the initial corner out.
Fingers crossed Krapasele gets removed this summer and Ubenga finds another couple of young centrebacks with high potential. He's building from the back which is always common sense. Bachmann also needs to go. I'm sure Ubenga can find a decent replacement somewhere in Europe. Also send Okoye on his way. Criminal signing. Very disappointing to concede a needless equalizer. We need to turn these draws into wins. But aside from Sarr who wants shooting (sulking because his transfer did not go through) positive signs to build on. Especially if we remain injury free. Should have done the double over this lot. Puts into perspective the pathetic effort these players sometimes put into other matches either through sheer complacency assuming a win or laziness. If they played like this all season we would also be merrily marching on our way back to the PL. Krapasele I ask you. Sarr needs benching. Stick Sema down the left and bring in Louza alongside Kone and Choudhry.
Would of taken a point before the game you let one in in injury time so disappointing but Absolute back to the wall stuff done a great job to get a point up there, they need to sort out the game management at the end of games keeping it the corner wasting time COYH
Sarr has to be dropped for West Brom. Martins is frustrating but constantly tries to make things happen. Not really sure why we gave up counter attacking in the second half. Very disappointing result off of an otherwise decent performance.
I will say that Kabasele himself didn't do much wrong. It's taking off Pedro for any of the bench that allowed them to keep the ball coming at the end.
Bachmann cannot be our keeper next season. He doesn't command his area. We will always concede. Teams know to put the ball into the mixer as Bachmann will never come out to collect. We threw it away
Subs weird. Kone and Ken doing well and the game was too physical for Louza and Araujo. Martins achieves nothing but he works hard and gets in the way of opponents, so that sub may have been OK. JP holds the ball well and should have stayed on. With the team holding on well, why make so many subs just because you can?
He's on a sulk of some sort. Perhaps his agent is in his ear waiting for the summer where they can fark off for a glamour move to Stripey Nigel land.
Sarr is an utter disgrace. His team mates should be letting him know exactly how they feel when so many put in a massive shift tonight.
What a p*sser! We nearly did what Burnley have done to us so many times, but concede another late goal ! would have taken that at 8pm though and though lacking in quality that performance had a lot of what’s been missing this season . If we play with that effort and intensity every week we should get plenty of wins against the average sides . Sarr was sh*te . Pedro excellent though faded second half . Choudry motm for us . Thought Kone was decent as well .
Uncle Gino deems a psychologist for the side is unnecessary. Odd really. But then again the narcissistic prat is an oddball. His August dealings are part of the reason where we are now.
@UEA and @Forzainglese Understood and agreed, but JP both looked unhappy at being subbed and IMHO still looked full of (outlet) running, yellow card or not...
I think with the newbies and those returning from injury we do seem to be lacking in fitness. We really do rely so much on JP on the counter....
I guess our goal did come from their keeper messing up and Bachmann had to make some good saves so maybe they were due a goal but annoying as we had everyone back. All got attracted to the ball .
A bit of both probably but up until that point I thought we defended pretty well all game. I think panic set in & it's cost us.
Sorry but think anyone saying it was anything better than a good defensive performance, at best, needs to give their head a wobble. Created nothing, and I fail to see why we set up as if playing City away for the second half it was a surrender of possession that meant we were under pressure throughout and lacked the middle to stop their wide switches & cutback. Really really poor from whoever decided we set up that way, especially if the club thinks we have a top two squad.
Annoying to concede late in the end ,but those two centre backs are class above what we have in how long
Not getting all the Bachmann and Kabaselle hatred tonight? Kabs did nothing wrong in the short time he was on and Bachmann quite frankly did more than most to get us our point tonight with some great saves over the evening.
I am pretty sure the reason JP was subbed was that he got booked and he wasn't worth the risk of a red card late on. Fair enough in that regard but we brought on the worst player we have. Sarr was also at fault for the goal, he capped off a fine performance of doing sweet FA. Kone' was alright but he looks lethargic, Martins holds the ball well. I agree with the above, bench Sarr on Monday and start Sema.
Sarr played like a disinterested, big headed twit. How he stayed on the pitch for the entire match is beyond me. He didn’t take on his man other than on one occasion (when he kicked it against the full back’s legs). His crossing was atrocious. He can’t or won’t tackle. He just offered nothing for us tonight (apart from one clipped pass to Louza), but this type of display is so far from a once off. Ismaila, if you are scanning this thread, please try to earn your living with honest endeavour, show some respect for your employers and the Watford fans, show some courage, play for your big move. By hiding you are damaging your reputation and career.
3 wins in the last 12 (incl. cup) for Bilic. Gino must be getting rather excited at the prospect of sacking yet another manager. It’s only a matter of time before the circus continues unfortunately. In the meantime, we’ve got the very exciting prospect of becoming the leagues draw specialists, potentially making it 5/6 draws come Monday. Good times. P.S. Sarr was woeful tonight, and Bachman’s kicking was shocking. Both CB’s looked great though.
I thought the first half was excellent. We got up the pitch, pressed them and deserved our goal. In reality but for a duff final pass or two we could have had a second and been good value for it. Broadly agree with you about the second half, though it was the same team out there and I can’t imagine Bilic told them to sit back. Inclined to diagnose another case of mental midget syndrome.
Personally don’t get the hate for Bachmann. He kept us in it with two phenomenal saves. Distribution wasn’t great but shot stopping was very good. Haven’t seen the replay but presume he was going to save from the first attacker at the back post and momentum took him backwards. He wasn’t to know the attacker would make a hash of it new CBS are exactly what we needed personally don’t think anybody deserves to be berated on that performance. Enjoyed the last two games as compared to the last 5 years
I'm pretty certain there is some small print in his contract that demands he never goes off when not injured. His head has gone, can play well perhaps one in ten games.
Extremely disappointing to concede the equaliser so late but if I was offered a point beforehand I would have taken it. I think one or two of our players that had been injured tired somewhat in the second half. Burnley were not all that and I think we invited them on too much in the second half. When we pressed from the front they looked rather average.
