That can’t be right, according to some posters 4 points is too big a gap to make up so Liverpool might as well give up now,
Actually outside the top six only Leicester had scored more goals per game than Villa, so the game panned out pretty much as I expected. It's funny that Sema has been famed for his versatility (by whom? People in Sweden? Udinese?) when the only positions he can competently play at, and only at a lower level, are left winger and left wing back. Yet he's been played in all sorts of outfield positions it seems apart from central defence. Three managers only this season have between them tried various roles, seemingly without realizing he's no good at this level at any of them (well maybe finally the penny has dropped for Hodgson).
Sarr is an absolute hero. His professionalism and quality is the difference between us and being the next Charlton. Let’s enjoy him and wish him the best when he gets a good move.
My first game in 2 years so happy with that. But the first half was terrible and we'd clearly set up to defend for 90 minutes and hopefully hit them on the counter Second half was a bit better but I don't think the neutral I took with me is going to be won over. Pure luck we managed to score imo. Aston villa 20 shots 0 on target Dennis doesnt like defending does he? At times he can be 1 meter away from the ball but still not chase back. Not really sure about his celebration either, yes you finally did whats expected of you, you didnt win the world cup, get on with it Also had a disagreement with a fan over the booing of ashley young, supposedly he only did it once and thats no reason to dislike him. Shame he didnt listen to himself whilst critising all current 11 players today throughout the game
I think it's like that old right-back concept, as in 'right backs are the least talented players on any team as they play there because they aren't good/special enough to play in any other position' - Sema has never displayed any kind of attitude problem (to the contrary, displays a good attitude, like a loyal sheepdog bounding about) and bustles about (slowly) existing on the pitch without ever having any real impact in any part of it. Therefore the fact that he will do what he is told, and where, happily, becomes his overriding trait. All you have to do is suspend the minimum quality/impact requirements in each of those positions!
No offence mate but if that's how you feel after a rare Watford PL away win, you're probably better off not going to another game for another two years. Also even if the first of the bolded sentences were true (we had three shots on target other than the goal with 20% less possession than them) how on earth are they in any way correlated?
What? We were terrible for 75 minutes of the game, we won by luck and took 1 of 2 chances handed to us. Whats wrong with that? Do you really expect to watch football and walk away feeling that we deserved to win? The second bit would have been better seperated by a paragraph
This result has opened an unexpected window of opportunity. Beat Palace and other teams are sweating and we face difficult but beatable opponents next up with our tails up. The game against Palace is absolutely massive. Well done to the squad and Roy got giving us a shot. We must take this last chance.
For someone who doesn't like defending, Dennis made more tackles (5) than anyone on the pitch apart from Matty Cash
My son went with his mates today, I texted him afterwards asking what it's like up there, he just replied one word, "scenes"
The team which scores the most goals deserves to win When Swansea scored 2 late goals ,after we battered them ,to beat us 1-2, a few years ago, I don't recall anyone saying , "yeah but we were great for 89 minutes"
We had five clear cut chances and managed to take one of them. Villa had more attempts but none that were actually clear cut. The Ings one off the post would’ve been offside.
If MOTD give Villa expected goals more than 1 , then I am going to get angry and start posting in the politics section again !.
That was exactly the plan, surely you can't criticise it if it worked?? I've made my feelings known about Hodgson but that wasn't far off the perfect away performance today, fair play to him. And lovely Ray of course.
Didn't go because shamefully I had given up however from the clips on YouTube villa hit row z many times whereas we really should have scored more than 1. Smash and grab ? Not really cos Foster had eff all to do
It feels strange that we actually won. Two clean sheets since Roy arrived And four points We might get to see this team put up a fight yet, But as someone said earlier this is last chance saloon. Hopefully we might get some entertainment for the rest of the season though
