So it appears that the ethics committee have 'suggested' a 90 day ban.

I guess it'll be the top guy at FIFA that makes the final decision.

Platini now suspended by UEFA FIFA.

Coming apart at the seams. Delightful.

EDIT: originally wrote UEFA when I meant FIFA. :)

Really? Only articles I can find say UEFA have refused to suspend Pratini.

EDIT: whoops, realised I typed UEFA instead of FIFA in the above post. Should have read FIFA.

Though it does beg the question as to why he hasn't been suspended by UEFA.

Not surprising - didn't he refuse to cooperate with the American lawyer's enquiry?

Indeed. It's like my tonsils. I suffered from repeat tonsillitis in my 20s, to the point that I was ill nearly every month with a flare up. I had them removed in the end, which is only reserved for severe cases in adults. When they'd taken them out, they told me there was little of them left, so infected and eaten away with the illness were they.

That is like FIFA. Once you remove all the corruption, there won't be enough healthy tissue left for it to stand up.

The similarity between FIFA and Moog's tonsils is an idea that will stay with me for a long time!

If true then the other 2018 bidders will surely sue to recover the costs of their respective bids, secondly it flies in the face of Godfather's claims that the 2018 World Cup was in the bag for England until the newspaper revelations a couple of weeks prior to the vote.

Those are absolutely incredible words to have said out loud. He's delusional if he thinks that won't result in a serious clamour for Russia to be stripped of the World Cup. While the bidding countries sign paperwork saying they won't bring action against FIFA after the bid results, I'd be quite surprised if that protects them here. Blatter basically just admitted to encouraging countries to spend tens of millions on tendering a bid with the result already decided anyway. That's blatant corruption and will surely lead to significant legal action.

Reaction from England to the lost bid was never a case of being a bad loser; nor the reaction from the likes of the USA, Belgium and Australia. The fact the elections had clearly been bought was always the root of the objections, and all Blatter has done is proven those in England, Australia and the USA to have been completely right all along.

Apparently Blatter has been hospitalised with a "small emotional breakdown".

Luckily, it doesn't seem to have dampened his self delusion in any way, shape or form:

Is it wrong for me to want to see him dragged out of his hospital bed into an awaiting police car, head bonking on the stairs on the way down, and taken out to a trial?

We'd have a pretty good chance of winning. The only entrants to the Alternative World Cup would be England, the US, Oz, NZ and probably Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales. We should be able to see off that lot in a good year!

    Fifa

Yet more arrests - surely we are getting to the point where the organisation is so tainted it can't continue although would not be easy to organise a successor organisation. Obviously FIFA's accumulated surplus woukld have to transfer.

"Blatter" rhymes with "Hatter". Seems somehow appropriate.
