Well yes. But there’s quite a gap between thinking those sorts of things aren’t acceptable annymore and not offending the most easily offended person. As @Lloyd says, that really leaves very little and I don’t think we have gone that far, fortunately.

Totally agree. I'd like to see an end to *all* symbols at football. That includes the national anthem at cup finals and poppy displays.

I am in total disbelief that someone can troll players endlessly using slurs and insults. Bachmann, Troost Ekong, Morris and Kabasele getting the worst. Criticise women's football and even complain about Helen Ward getting a mural at the Vic. Block other Watford fans on social media if they dont have the same opinion as him. Go after Luther for months non stop demanding the right to free speech.....

Then complain when someone takes the bait and gives it back.

The problem he has is that once he decides on something there is turning back. Most stats show Bachmann as a very capable Championship keeper. Sure he has his faults but to say he's the worst we've ever had is ridiculous. The two Perry's spring to mind

 

Not sure why people keep talking to (or about him - I’m aware the below is doing just that though!). When he very first appeared as ‘Rupert’ (I think it was during lockdown?), he did a very good job of tackling Leventhal on podcast phone-in’s etc.

He was never extreme, he was calmly angry. That was fine. But sadly, social media has fed his ego (he isn’t the first, won’t be the last) and he’s gone so far down the rabbit hole, that’s he’s become something else entirely from what he originally was.

Other fans giving him air-time (I’m aware I’m doing this right now!) and exposure - like this thread, making banners to take to games - is just prolonging his persona but also feeding the vitriol. If you enjoy that, crack on I say. But it’s not for me that’s for sure.

(What I will say is that I got into a Twitter spat with him a long while back and exposed him for what he is and picked apart a number of his views - rather than debate or admit, he just blocks and has the audacity to call others rude!)

It’s a shame - as many of the original views he held are still valid. But he’s taken them to the extreme and battered them to within an inch of their life, that most people just sigh at him.

 

He's been around far, far longer than that.

Been around since the mid-1990s, at least. Used to write the odd bit on the BSAD website. May be mistaken about this but I think he was one of a handful of people who'd ring Oli Phillips up now and again and send letters to the WO. Was a regular on the Watford Mailing List.
