Serious question - what is up with our home form? Our away form is actually pretty good over the season as a whole. We haven't won since we stuffed Manure - and only got a single point since off Newcastle. Is it the fear of the home crowd? Is that why we were so good at the Vic last season with no fans? I think it's the pressure of having to perform in front of the Watford faithful. There is no way our away form is going to keep us up - our home form is the worst in the division - and I still cannot fathom why we are so, so poor at home.
You'd imagine so. Some of the patronising **** he's thrown out the last month has been totally unacceptable and uncalled for.
…. says person who literally called someone a ‘nasty, spittle-flecking, hissy-fitting’ ‘little banshee’ for having a different opinion just a few days ago. I guess we’re all as immature as each other on here.
Made some vital tackles in one on one situations. I had been on the drink all day but I would say yes he was.
Yes, he was excellent to the point of ‘where the **** has he been all season?’ Until the confidence destroying pasting we get in our next game which will finish him off.
Oh yes! Wee Willy Harris. Fine. Very fine. I cannot comment as I was ensconced in the Welwyn dome playing a boring bearded twit with equally dubious vision and very antiquated kit. Useless articles, officials.I Whether it's a small yellow ball or a bigger variety of numerous shades of vermilion, as footballs seem to be today.
Coz we are Watford.!! I can't ever remember many games when we have really delivered in games where we've thought "this one we'll surely win". Seriously tho you raise a good point, when GP first came in we did add some talented players and played some great football in the championship. I've often felt we seemed to transform into a team who believed they were a silky smooth team and that results just happen, but for some years we have a huge lack of basics guts and brawn when things get tough. (I wonder if Roy has been dishing out plenty of home truths in recent days.?)
Has to be up there with one of most unexpected Watford wins in recent years, but such is football that things like this do happen. It’s why optimists like me are always punished with the hope that things might be okay, no matter how bad we are. And in Cucho we have a player who is actually likeable, which is badly needed. If we can get him to stick around for a year in the Champo that could be great fun.
Away we have a plan, sit off and counter. No pressure no sweat. If we lose, we lose. At home we are expected to be the progressive team, the crowd want us to take the game to the opposition and the opposition dont let us counter because, well they're the away team and set up accordingly. So we get confused and try too hard, leaving holes and have all sorts of problems defending. Away we just defend and counter and they know how to do it (without being world beatera at it).
We have not turned into world beaters in one game, but i saw a lot of good things to give us a little hope. Look, we don't need to be good to stay up. We are ****, but we need to be a little less **** than 3 other teams. If we do that we might just make it. Cucho's performance today was pleasing. We have forward players that can grab us a goal or two, and we proved today we can defend a lead. lets enjoy the hope the next few weeks of no games will bring!
Cucho could do terrible things to the Championship, he seems to be able to score from anywhere. Unfortunately he's probably shown enough this season and during his time in La Liga that makes him at least a good squad option for a top level club, so I can't see him staying if we go down.
Was in the block next to the home fans and many , many of them were giving us the international sign of excellence, or maybe "branleur" as the French might say. Anywho, IMO , we fully deserved to be 2-0 up but the positive for me was how we reacted after gifting them a goal just before h-t. Yes Louza lost possession but it was a shyte pass to him when , at 44 minutes a pass into the corner was the correct thing to do . Game management was poor in that instance. Dennis wasn't as bad as some have made out however he takes far too many touches in the penalty area. Kabasele played very well and his pace dug us out a hole during the 1st half . Kucka was very good but at his age his minutes need managing. JP was good in fact it was a good performance from all and holding on like we did after we let them back in is a massive improvement
On a par with the Lino on the dug outs side - Specsavers head office is just up the M27 - they should get a 2 for 1 deal!
Not so sure about that. His blazed shot over the bar in the 2cnd half was poor . Arsenal players showed us how to score from that position last week However , IMO, his first goal was a lot harder than it looked
A lot of our players solely do that, though - Cucho had by that point already scored two goals; both of which involving finishes that were technically difficult to pull off. And that's not to mention the previous goals he's scored for us; 2/3rds of which were even more spectacular and technically difficult to pull off.
Very unexpected and hugely enjoyable. Dennis didn’t have a good game, but everyone else put in a great shift. My live stream was about 90 seconds behind and I simply could not bring myself to turn off my notifications. So I had a nice relaxing time watching the 99th and 100th minutes of the game.
probably true , not totally sure how many takers we would have for him though as he is the definition of a luxury player , very good in front of goal (some times) but absolutely dire elsewhere, can’t pass reliably and loses the ball too easily, then gets frustrated and gives away silly fouls. Sarr will go somewhere like Liverpool but couldn’t see Dennis at a big club. Seems a bit harsh to criticise our top scorer , but considering his skill in the box , can’t understand why further down the pitch he can’t keep the ball for ****, guess I didn’t really notice it when he was scoring all the time based on the last few matches would be more keen to keep JP and cucho for the championship but would expect. Few cheeky bids for them as well
Yes I agree however I would prefer someone who scored a bread and butter goal regularly as opposed to "worldies" now and again . I just don't see a team taking an expensive punt on him
I do agree. It’s lovely to be happy about a good performance and an away win. An additional bonus is that the Leeds home game will have a lot riding on it which may not have been the case!
Yes - but as with the Villa game, why, to get a win, do we have to hang on into the 11th minute of second half stoppage time!
