Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical self-fellating ceremony.

Oh how we needed that. With Burnley's win and Newcastle's point, that is a huge 3 points. I still think we're going down but at least it's not without a fight. Didn't go today but by all accounts was a hell of a battle- Kamara, Cathcart and Louza in particular I've read did really well. Sarr makes such a difference to this team man. We need to enjoy him whilst we still can!

This is an interesting and relevant point. Although we have had some EPL managers with top flight European experience, only Nigel Pearson had previously managed in the EPL. However, NP only managed in a few dozen games, whereas RH has managed in hundreds of EPL matches.

  7. Villa is one of my own personal mini "temporary" rivalries.

Much like Bournemouth and Palace before them, they'll never ever (ever) be anything close to a rivalry like the real scum in terms of utter hatred of a bunch of pure vile incompetent inbred neanderthals.

Bournemouth and palace obviously due to recent close proximity of position and important games.

But in my own little corner of the world, Villa, because of the brummie family just up the road from me. They were lovely to us when we moved in. They seem to be really lovely people and I'm sure they are.

But for one memory; One sunny day on 26th July 2020; Settled on a chair in my conservatory with the faint hope that we could beat Arsenal and avoid the drop; And hearing the cheers from their house as they scored against West Ham which added almost the last nail in our Premier League survival coffin that season. Especially heart breaking due to their goal line technology fail v Sheffield United that might well have buried them further and spurred us on.

So a victory against Villa for me is personally and specifically sweet. The double especially so.

So I'm pretty happy tonight and I'll throw them a little smirk as I walk past their house next time.

It's the small things that keep you going, isn't it.

I mean, this is the second time you've made this utterly unfounded accusation, based on no evidence whatsoever, in the last week or so, and it's just a silly thing to be saying - a conspiracy theory, essentially. It's fine if you disagree with any/all of us (not that you need me to be telling you it's fine, of course) but why add this kind of rubbish?

If we can keep today's starting line up fit (and maybe swap Pedro for King) we should have a chance of picking up decent points in these home games:

    Palace
    Everton
    Leeds
    Brentford
    Burnley

So far this season these teams have won 7 of their 61 away games.

12 points or more would get us to the 30 point mark........

Three goals conceded in four games means the first part of Hodgson’s plan is working. He now needs to get enough goals out of us to get results. Sarr looked terrific yesterday and Dennis has clearly still got it, given some service. So we have a real shot at it.

I have been slagging King off on here recently including in a post after yesterdays game where I accused him of "missing a sitter yet again" even though I had not seen his effort I was working on the premise that that is what he would normally do when put clean through.

However having now seen his effort on BBC's Match of the Day I have to apologise to him for assuming that he had missed a sitter yet again, because on this occasion he in fact was unlucky not to score as he actually executed a clean sharp strike on the ball which the GK saved at point blank range.

So well done Mr King lets hope that is a sign of things to come, because if you continue to strike your efforts on goal like that you might yet net some vital goals on our road to survival.

I knew things were to good to be true after yesterdays long awaited victory, because although I set Sky up to record their coverage of our match which was due to be broadcast at 6am this morning it has not been recorded

Games that I had NOT set up were recorded, but for some reason not ours. So I am going to have to wait until it is available on Catch Up TV, which will hopefully be later today.

Therefore although I know you will all be very disappointed you will just have to wait to see my words of wisdom on the match just a little bit longer I'm afraid :D

Its an odd feeling getting a goal, let alone a win.

Probably will fade out and die, this "hope" thing that is elbowing me in the ribs whilst I snooze in. But there are signs for optimism. We've won the last two games Sarr has started. The next two games are winnable, win at least 1 and we're then "in form" to an extent, among a pack of teams - instead of just trying to catch Newcastle.

It’s funny that forumites seem to think ‘dissing’ means ‘disagreeing’ as opposed to ‘disrespecting’.

The usual story around here. Don’t diss the populists.

Still incredibly disillusioned with what's going on at the club, mainly off the field with the owners and CEO, but yesterday felt nice. Credit to the players and also R&R.

If yesterday tells us anything I guess it tells us that Sarr is absolutely vital to any slim chance we have of finishing 17th and that Kucka should never play for us ever again now that Louza is back!

Same team for Wednesday night please.

Oh, and what a cross from Sarr! That was genuine quality we've missed since he's been out.

Our longest unbeaten run this season is two matches. Two! Really pitiful.

Obvious thing to say but we aren’t going to be anywhere near staying up unless we can change this.

We followed up our great wins against Villa, Everton and United with poor defeats to Brighton, Southampton and Leicester. You could argue we were lucky to get a point in the match after beating Norwich.

Wednesday sees us trying to win back to back matches for the first time this season. If we did, then it suddenly starts becoming more interesting.

Speaking of that cross from Sarr.. the two Villa defenders just stood there while Sarr thought about where to put it. Here's my analogy of it.

Sarr: "Hey boys, you the ball? Do ya? Do ya?"
V Defenders: "Yeah Yeah, Yeah! Ball! Me Want!"
Sarr: "Get ready then.. here it comes..."
V Defenders: "Oh boy! We're gonna get the ball! We're gonna get the ball!"
Sarr: "SYKE!!!" (Crosses for Dennis to score). :p

Quite a day. 4.5 hours just to get to Birmingham set it up to be *****, but that was an enjoyable day out all being told.

Also interesting to see the coked up teenagers doing more for atmosphere than anyone from the 1881.

Not advocating it - Just an observation.

There’s a really good piece on the athletic in regards to the rise of it in recent years at football matches that’s worth taking the time to read. Especially given how open it appears to be unfortunately.

I actually thought he was going to pass it to Kiko, and probably the Villa defenders thought the same - nice bit of mind games there. We need that kind of unpredictability if we’re going to stay up.

I understand the 1881 were at Maidenhead supporting their current favourite team. Borehamwood lost so failure follows them everywhere.

I'm not remotely saying it's the same, but there was shades of Geri against Wolves on that day about Sarr's cross - the quality of the ball, the fact that it came from a standing start at a point where it seemed like momentum had passed and the defenders were covering, and the casual nonchalance in its execution.

    Yes, absolutely. Very similar.

Was also a great run from Kiko to give Sarr half a yard of space to send the cross in. Was executed perfectly.
