This tickled me, from The Guardian/Observer match report:
"Watford arrived late and started slowly save for Cathcart who several times nipped early danger in the bud. Not one for headlines or fanfare, the centre-back will never be under-appreciated by Hornets’ fans." LOL.

I genuinely can't quite work out what he means by that - is he saying appreciation doesn't come into it at all, or is he saying there's a secret tide of incredible unshakeable support for Cathcart among all Watford fans, or what? What have the potential headlines and fanfare got to do with it?

    Nope, my stash is untouched.

There were 20+ of them so I expect the excitement of their first lads away day British rail special together was enough for them to be a bit hyper. Probably was them to be fair

Well done, Miked. But who are the unimportant members of the forum? I think they should be named and shamed!

As I've said in other posts, it does not really matter that much which Sarr turns up because oppositions teams are **** scared of him and usually double mark him creating space for the likes of Dennis etc. and stretching the opposition defence much thinner.

Of course a fully firing Sarr is best, but as long as he is on the pitch he is still a great asset for the team.

Actually we need an inconsistent Sarr as teams will be unlikely to take a punt on a 1 decent game in 2 player ! Whereas 19 top draw games from Sarr will suit as down to a tee!

It's also utter nonsense because the 'Ings/Samir' coming-together in the box came about from Ings slowly jogging away from Cathcart along the defensive line and behind Samir who couldn't see him.

Cathcart was very good yesterday - but that was his one mistake in the game and it came very early so not quite sure what the Guardian reporter is talking about!

Seems like the usual journalistic licence. It's in his brain so it must be fact. He obviously doesn't know that his form has not been good for the last 2.5 seasons but it sounds good so he will scribble it.

Only just noticed that yesterday's team was the same as the one we put out against United, bar the two newcomers Samir and Kamara instead of N'Koulou and Masina.

His finger-pointy dancing goal-celebration while sat on the bench with a beaming smile on his face was quite fun though - he had the cheeky look of a 5(0) year-old street urchin.

He's basically just the club's new mascot at this point.

If he was at Liverpool playing under Klopp he'd be rated as one of the best attacking players in the world within a year.

He’s clearly just delighted to be involved. The opportunity doesn’t usually come this late in life.

Well guys I finally managed to watch the whole game this morning and basically I think it was a solid TEAM performance, and long may that last. As for my thoughts on the individual performances here goes: -

Foster - Yet another solid performance, it's great to have him back in the team
Kiko - Not his best performance, but he did OK, but please take him off set piece duties Roy.
Cathcart - Looking really solid ATM and IMO was probably our MOTM
Samir - Still looking good, a rare Pozzo master signing IMO. I just hope he'll be ok for "Palarse"
Kamara - Was given quite a battle by their wing back, but gave as good as he got.
Sissoko - Still looking for more from him but was a little better than in recent weeks.
Louza - It was either him or Cathcart for my MOTM, and I am beginning to think that £9m was not such a bad price to pay after all.
Cleverly - Another decent performance and he managed the full 90 mins too.
Sarr - Great cross for the goal, and although not at his best, he still makes a big difference for our team by just being on the pitch.
King - Unlucky not to score this week, but I still want more from him like a goal or three, he really needs new shooting boots.
Dennis - A great finish, lets hope that is the start of many. Looking like his MoJo might be back, so lets hope he will be ok for "Palarse"
Sema, Kabasele & Cucho - Was King Ken on the pitch - Kabs did Ok and had at least one good clearance - Cucho no longer a blond I see.

All in all what a great result for us and hopefully "The Curse" has been broken and we go on to get the points we need for survival.

    THE ORN'S ARE STAYING UP

I think you forgot how bad we look in those games he didn't turn up. Usually looked like we are playing with a man down, with Kiko under too much pressure from the opposition and we ultimately LOST most of those games.

Once again Louza comes in for the unavailable Kucka and shows him up.

Never understood why Louza was phased back out of the side. A little lightweight for sure, but Sissoko is there to do the physical work. It's technical quality that we were lacking.

Louza came in for Kayembe no? Sarr was in place of Kucka.

True, but even against Villa, without him being 100% on his game, he was involved in most of our best moments. He’s absolutely vital to us.

Which games? I've said before on here that the Sarr being lazy/not turning up myth is just the latest in a long line of how Watford fans react to certain flair players. Aside from the fact I can think of plenty of times he's been back in our defensive third helping out, that simply can't be his role if he's in the front 3 (which he has been for most of this season). We got basically **** all goals or points while he was out of the side with his injury but yeah, he's definitely the problem.

It's the Muhammed Ali "squeaky wheel" syndrome. Only the squeaky wheel gets oiled.

Same as all these forum types, you get a small minority who have too much time on their hands, the self appointed all patting each other on the back, all believing in their own importance.

I won't get overexcited about the result but we definitely showed progress on Saturday. Sarr showed his importance, he fought back as did Dennis to defend as a 4-5-1. His vision for the pass to Dennis first half was top notch and the cross for the goal was perfection even though I thought he'd kept hold of it too long.
Dennis I want to go on the outside sometimes just to keep the defenders thinking. The 90+ from Louza was very good, always showing and keeps the ball moving.
Just want the same desire from everyone Wednesday plus better decision making in the final third because fail again at home against a beatable side and this result is worth nothing.
Sema should be absolutely nowhere near a Premier league squad let alone getting minutes, hopefully now Roy has seen what an absolute liability he is.
I'm shocked that the quality on paper that the Villa attack has didn't test us more so fairplay to the setup Roy gave the team and the way they went about their work on the pitch. But again it needs the same effort Wednesday if not more.
As for Palace they looked nothing special against Chelsea Zaha missing a couple but I expect them to be more open against us.
Win this and it puts a whole new outlook on the table.

It was his winning of the ball in our defensive third that created the Dennis breakaway chance in the first half. I want more out of Sarr going forward but we can't question his defensive duties against Villa. He did his part and definitely tried to help out Kiko.

I do like this new narrative being developed that anyone critical of the owners is now part of a single group unilaterally making unnecessary noise and they aren’t simply replying to posts made by those of a different opinion.

Meanwhile over in Twitter land people patrol the landscape picking up and lambasting anti-Pozzo sentiment.

Yeah, him just being on the pitch is enough to improve the team, even when he's not on song, as opponents are still always worried about him which frees up much more space elsewhere.

Plus even when he's seemed a bit off his game he'd still usually pop up out of the blue with one or two brilliant chances created per match.

Yes. I think Sarr's facial expression just makes him look disinterested/sulking. I don't for a second think that accurately portrays what's going on inside.

Trying to guess people by their facial expression is interesting, I often say " you wouldn't put them together in a line up " when seeing a married couple eg:- Toyah Willcox and her husband Robert Fripp, Holly Willoughby and Daniel Baldwin, etc etc

Who has mentioned the owners, I was replying to someone elses message. I was talking about the Divs in general not anyone one group of Divs in particular. If you want to lump yourself into this group, so be it, your choice. I don't know you from Adam and wasn't addressing you or any clique your in. Just replying to someone else.
