And some of those were here pre Cup final ! If not most . Unless he means we didn’t replace them - or tried but not successfully.
I can’t believe the usual suspects outed themselves at the beginning of that film, The Usual Suspects. Ruined it for me.
Of course no one was slagged off, because we were talking about a "Dream Scenario" more a joke than anything. It is you who has decided to make such a big issue of what was essentially a light hearted comment. Therefore I am not going to continue with this any further though no doubt you will, so do your worst, bye.
Don't turn around and play the victim when you're the one who repeatedly comes for us entirely unprompted with nonsensical witterings, TVOR. At no point am I, or have I, been doing my 'worst', either - merely asking you to back up your comments - something that you are unable to do, which is in itself something of a repetitive theme around here at this point.
Rather than send Gino a horse's head, can we club together and arrange a corner flag to be left at the end of his bed?
I’ve noticed this forum is becoming quite toxic . With a fair bit of rancidity and some rot as well. I blame Gino and Duxbury as they are at the root of all toxicity in case anyone didn’t know .
Have a feeling Alyson Rudd has been a huge bitch about us before for seemingly no reason, but thanks, will see what's being said this time round...
Wasn't she the one who had a big sulk at us when we beat Leeds in the play-off final? I have to say this time, apart from possibly overegging Burnley's achievements in comparison with ours, she's being quite fair
Yeah it's just a bit of a needless round-up really, a massive 'Alyson, give me 500 words on Watford by the end of the day!' type article. It touches on issues covered by the Athletic, as well as Ryan Gray in the Wobby, about the continued effectiveness of their approach, but just as quickly drops it altogether again.
Think that was Louise Taylor but they probably all thought the say as little old Watford dared to beat mighty Leeds .
Duxbury- “lessons have been learnt” Next transfer window - gaping holes in the squad again and no incomings while the teams around Watford do business. Get this patronising fraud the f&@k out of the club.
Signing decent players like Sarr and Hughes was the lesson. He wasn’t making that crazy mistake again
They don't have the £££ to compete on a level playing field with other PL teams. We got up and stayed there with some smart management from the top. The last 3/4 years, that quality has fallen by the wayside and we've become really, really dumb. The decisions they make, the off-field antics, the appalling recent transfer record. We've either come as far as Gino's willing to take us, or we've come as far as he's able to take us. Either way, club's a laughing stock and we'll soon be back in the Championship where we belong.
Watford Twitter defending the current circumstances by saying ‘I didn’t expect to stay up this season’. The rewriting of history has begun, happens every time. Don’t forget to like and subscribe y’all. Also I’m available to be purchased as a follower. #watfordfc
Apologies if this has already been posted but some very interesting bits of info in here: https://theanalyst.com/eu/2022/01/wat-next-for-watford/ For those doubting Phillip’s ability in comparison to our current lot of defenders, we’re closing in on the record for consecutive non-clean sheets, held by West Brom on 34, we’re on 30. Only one team in top flight history (not just PL, all football) has gone a whole season without keeping a clean sheet. This is also an interesting graphic: Yes they’ve been good for us, but it their tenure doesn’t particularly stand out on what seems like an overall upward trend starting in 1961.
That’s flawed analysis, I’m afraid. Watford would be nowhere near the upper reaches of the leagues over the last several decades without the massive uplift under Graham Taylor/Elton John.
Average English League position in 9 seasons under the Pozzos (12/13-20/21): 17th Average English League position in the 9 seasons prior (03/04-11/12): 29th Average English League position in the 9 seasons before that (94/95-02/03): 36th Seems a fairly significant improvement, in my opinion.
I want to see the back Of them, we can’t sit in denial cos what they’ve done has been the best we’ve witnessed. Yes they’ve done lots of good and we would be nowhere near the premier league without them. Their once worlds greatest scouting model has been caught up with as other clubs do similar things or adapt this model. This is pretty much their ceiling with us. Maybe a new ground and training facility could boost the appeal to play for us but I don’t think that would make good business sense from their view. We’ve become more of a laughing stock as the seasons roll on, players that did first come here under the Pozzo regime had no idea what it was like now it’s well known. Perform at Watford get a move to bigger club, not happening straight away don’t worry next coach/manager is a few month away. This doesn’t work I’ve a back door escape to Italy. All while picking up decent money. No amount of player trading is going to allow them to stay afloat in premier league and I honestly think they have come to the conclusion bouncing back and forth with premier league money every other season or two is still more than they can make anywhere else which just allows their true love Udinese to prosper and keep up in Italy. People will say well who’s going to buy us, I’m sure they’d be interest to become a billionaires play thing and it’s a gamble but we’d get an identity hopefully one with ambition Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not Newcastle like owners though. That won’t go down well. I agree about your point regarding the scouting system - everyone has scouts and access to a DVD tape now. And definitely feel some players feel they can down tools because the manager will be blamed every time .
Great to see the anti Pozzo sentiment grows by the day. You can feel the acolytes on Twitter shocked at the volume of fans pushing back at their rhetoric. The glorious day is coming people!
We've been a laughing stock for a while (amongst those who follow football closely). This didn't bother most of us because the Pozzo's were successful, despite their unorthodox methods. It is now obvious to all (bar a few who choose to remain in denial) that Watford are very much on a downward trajectory. It is also undeniable that Pozzo closed the academy and cares far more about making money on player trading than he does about Watford FC.
Yep that glorious day when we get a new owner (from somewhere) and everything will be alright because there are people falling over each other to buy us.
In fairness it is pretty deniable. But as it doesn’t produce any first team players it might as well be closed.
We seem to lose so many players at Youth level that they probably think it’s not worthwhile having a strong academy … Changing the coaches almost every season doesn’t help either in terms of trying to develop players.
Not sure how any of what you posted makes us a laughing stock, it’s what you don’t like. Nobody cares what happens to this club outside of Watford fans. We drop down a couple of leagues and nobody in top two divisions will care like I don’t care what’s happened to Sunderland or any other team that fallen from the top table.
TBF the likes of Gary Lineker seem to take great notice when we sack a manager but I guess in the general scheme of things not many care either way if we go down and don’t come back .
