Perhaps Whitlock is so skilled at the pommel as he is used to navigating his way around the magic roundabout in Hemel?

Brilliant for us,what a boon the lottery has been for sport.

Stayed up to watch the end of the tennis. A fantastic match, and I hate tennis.

But tennis doesn't really use a league system, but I take your point - those sports aren't so popular worldwide on a purely domestic level (apart from Wimbledon), which places greater emphasis on our best players competing on the world stage where it really matters.

I love tennis and have to say it was truly one of the best matches I've seen. A raucous and at times ridculously behaving crowd, players walking around like zombies, true sportsmanship between the two and one of Britain's greatest ever sportsmen cementing his Olympic legacy.

He sung the bloody anthem as well, the independence loving ****.

I don't watch that much tennis but for a top 10 rankings clash that was a ridiculous number of breaks of serve.

Andy Murray is a true sporting legend. Could easily skip the Olympics as there's no money to be made and also could have not got involved with Davis Cup, but he did and he represented GB proudly in both. He deserves a knighthood.

Did anyone else think that Del Potro's miraculous rejuvenation after he had treatment from his physio half way through the 4th set when he was 2-3 down to Murray, was a bit suspicious? It crossed my mind that the physio might have slipped him some sort of energy stimulant, the commentator even said something like: -

"Did D P get an injection of energy as well as the leg massage from his physio"

Though I don't think the commentator was suggesting he gave him an actual injection?

No, they injected Lucozade into his veins. Was the original flavour, not tropical as Del Potro doesn't like the tropical one.

If it wasn't for the swimming medals, GB would be miles ahead in the overall medal table. 15 golds to 10!

I do realise, however, that there is a tiny flaw in my argument.

All my life we've managed to scrape 3-4 gold medals in an entire Olympics. 5 if we were lucky. Now suddenly we're the 2nd best Olympic nation on the planet.

"Rrrrremarkable" as David Coleman would say.

Forgive me if I have misunderstood you LondonOrn but tennis has a ranking system both for the calendar year and the year by event.

Tennis and football (and possibly golf) are the only global sports.

The one GB competitor I can't stand didn't win the Gold. Aww bless. I'm sure he can keep the silver in that chip on his shoulder along with the fact that it doesn't matter how many Tour sprints he wins, no one cares even remotely about him.

'They'd be straight on for Brad' - yes, they would Mark. He has a personality and isn't a complete and utter ****.

Field hockey has been fun to watch. Also enjoying the team handball, a sport Americans should be great at, but for some reason literally no one has ever played here.

I've watched most of our matches and they have played excellently!

Alex Danson has real skill and they really work well as a team.

Moose I think Laura Trott is from Cheshunt but rode for WGC. Grundy Park (or Grungy Park as some locals used to call it) has been renamed The Laura Trott Centre. She's impressive either way!

Those dressage horses are magnificent beasts.

I watched a bit of dressage last night. Whilst I agree that the horses look fantastic, how is it possible to watch more than a minute without becoming bored senseless?

Agreed. Really it's a travesty that this dressage and things like golf are in the Olympics when baseball has been left out of the last two games.

The final day of the Golf was fantastic and is a truly global sport.

    Unlike Baseball.

Clearly what they should do is have the golf, but on horseback.
