Sicily's lovely but it was a stifling 45 degrees when I was there .... way way too hot for an active thirteen year old.

Honestly don't know why we bother we things like Diving.

Although I think the pairing of Forestieri and Fabbrini might surprise a few. Some on this board.

Is there no way of watching it live/catching up with it (for evening events) online?

Is it quite hot over there BTW? Not having been to Sicily myself, I imagine the climate is pretty similar to southern mainland Italy or Malta - a pretty steady high 20s/low 30s during this time of year with a relieving breeze but prone to the odd scorcher as the Saharan winds come wafting in.

Came 4th in both Mens Gymnastics team and the Womens Rugby 7's. I really enjoyed the rugby. Tremendous strength and athleticism.

    Me too.

I liked our bald lady who ran into people whenever she could! A 7s version of Behrami!

No wonder Adam Peaty is so fast in the water, he hates it so much that he can't get out of it quick enough ;)

You're probably right, London, but it's nicer to watch it together as a family on the TV. Most of the time it's fine although, right now, we have a choice of fencing, rugby sevens or beach volleyball none of which I have even a passing interest in. Plus, as I am learning from having the live blogs up alongside the TV, the online stuff tends to crash here too much to be reliable.

Re climate here in Sicily, you're right - high 20s/low 30s with a steady breeze. Although today the "steady breeze" has progressed to gusts of around 20/30mph, hence the fact I'm currently surfing Olympic coverage.

Yep, saw the mens today, as well.

But it was the women that really impressed me. I have always thought of womens football as being lightweight and, well, girly, not a patch on mens football. But these 7's women were just vicious with 100% physical effort.

    ;D

Great to see the Russian mens team win silver in the gymnastics. But I was wondering where Mitch Fenner was and not providing his inimitable expertise all delivered with warmth and impartiality, one of the old school of BBC commentators who know their sport inside and out. Shocked to find out he passed away a month before Rio of cancer. Very sad news and yet another familiar voice gone.

Felt a bit for the divers having to dive into basically a pool of green water!

Probably find the swimming itself has turned green tomorrow..

Someone obviously forgot to put some chlorine in that pool as the adjacent pool was clear.

Horrible conditions for the two cycling time trials today, windy and rainy. They're also doing the same circuit as the road race with all those dangerous bends. After seeing the injuries from those two races, hard to believe this course was signed off by the organisers.

On BBC this morning they said that the course would not be taking in that dangerous decent where the accidents happened. It was to cover the first part of the Road Race circuit, which didn't include that bit.

Ah fair enough. I turned it on halfway through Chris Boardman talking and thought that's what he said. Looks like it's only part of the same circuit though. Even so, watching it there look to be some pretty tight bends and cobbles too, neither great in the rain!

As in 2012 the first Wednesday has brought a medal rush and in a variety of events..

Potentially 2 more as well in the Gymnastics and rugby 7s.

Watched the canoeing and the diving live. Great stuff. Perhaps now the media can shut up about mediocre nonentity Tom Daly and celebrate two actual winners.

Women's 10,000 metres in a world record time, 29 minutes 17, smashed the record by about 20 seconds. I was watching with an open jaw, bonkers!

Well that is the trouble really - any such performances will be treated with suspicious minds.

Good to see our 2 banker gold medals come through.

Should get a medal in the dressage later, though probably not gold. Isn't there a mens persuit final in the velodrome tonight also?
