This is Forest's first game after the sad news that their owner has died. In that time they have had a local derby called off due to the weather and they have signed George Elikobi on a month's loan from Wolves. Forest may give debuts to Danny Higginbottom and Greg Cunningham. Forest come into the game with only 1 point from the last 5 games whereas Watford have 6 points from 5 games. Watford are without long term absentee's Steven McGinn and Martin Taylor but apart from that there are no new injury concerns for Watford. The statistics do not weigh in favour of Forest as they are the lowest scoring team in the division and have not scored at home in 6 games. Worringly for Watford 11 of the 40 goals conceded have come in the last 10 minutes of a game. Also Watford have only picked up maximum points on three occasions away this season. Watford have failed to score in three of the last four meetings with Nottingham Forest. The game should be played as their is no snow forecasted. I expect the team to be: Loach Hodson, Marriappa, Nosworthy, Doyley Murray, Hogg, Eustace, Kacaniklic Deeney, Garner Subs: Bond, ****inson, Buaben, Yeates, Iwelumo Essentially if it aint broke don't fix it. I predict a 2-0 to the 'Orns. I don't know how to put a poll in so here is my attempt.
I fancied us to win this one, until the unfortunate death of their owner. It's going to be one of those matches, where they will want to honour his memory, so it could be a tough one going up against a highly motivated team. I wouldn't mind this one being called off, and play it later once all the fuss has died down.
Could be called of if the's another bout of heavy snow. Slippery streets, health & safty etc. I personally think this is a good time to play them though. We're in good form & their form is pants.
not sure you picked the right word there really hb. i do agree that this a potential banana skin for us. a win and we can start looking up the table, but a loss would be detrimental to our confidence and could see us slide a bit.
Just checked the weather reports and it looks like the game should still be on with the snow clearing by Saturday.
This is a very important game for us as we have some real tough games coming up. A scrappy 1-0 to us I think, a Garner tap in for the goal. They have a decent signing in Elokobi, good solid defender apparently going to start at full-back due to injury so will be a tough test for either Kacaniklic and Murray
We're stuffed. Due to the tragic circumstances with the owner, the whole City will want to see them win in his memory. It's going to be very difficult for the our team to face that so I don't expect anything from this game.
Elokobi is an awful defender, he is only rated by Wolves because the fans love him. Apparently he is a poor mans Danny Sh!ttu.
Slightly off topic, but Shi ttu must be one of the highest paid players per minute of action since he left us. He never seems to play and never wants to go on loan to earn his money.
Elokobi was a good left back, but he's put on a hell of a lot of weight in the past year. Also, Forest fans will hate you for naming them 'Notts' Forest..
This is very true. The reason for this is because its mixing them with Notts County. Most Forest fans regard Notts County as an irritating little brother/cousin, whilst most of the hatred is from Notts County to Forest. The big rivalry is with Derby though.
It's down to Notts meaning Nottinghamshire, aka the County (Notts County representing the county). Forest is the team of the city, which is Nottm, (Nottingham)
On the weather news the temperature for Nottingham shown as 7 degrees - London 0 so hopefully the match will be on.
That is true but its the existence of Notts County which causes Forest fans to get upset when someone refers to Forest as Notts. Still its a bit of a tongue twister especially when trying to say Notts County and Nottingham Forest in the same sentence.
Didnt realise they got Danny higgingbottom on loan from stoke as well as the wolves fella George Elokobi. Still think we wil sneak this one 1-2
Playing them just after January is a bit annoying, but I disagree with the whole 'we'll lose because their chairman died' etc thing, it shouldn't be the difference between a win and a loss, if we play well then we'll get something, I'd take a draw.
On current form..both ours and their's..we should at least draw if not win today. A story waiting to happen would be Garner getting the winner! They've not played for 2 weeks as well so they could be rusty. However, they will be buoyed by their 3 new loanees and there is bound to be alot of emotion at the City Ground so I'm a bit nervous. Good Luck to the boys and safe journey if you're going
