Disgraceful from Britos, going know where and two foots Knockaert. No need for that sort of challenge.

Stupid from Britos. Definite red for a pointless challenge. Now we're up against it.

Can occasionally be amazing but his lack of pace makes him a liability, get someone quicker in now.

  5. Why put him up against a fast winger when you know damn well he's slow

What other outcome did Silva expect?

  10. Agree. Can't blame Silva for the foul (nor really for picking him in the circumstances), but Britos covering there today was a huge mistake, IMHO. Yep, there's some hindsight and some experience in there, but I was surprised when he was named, and I was worried right up until he got sent off.

Thought Amrabat was a little bit more like his old self today, shame he had to come off.

If Britos is going to do that, then at least do it properly and take the diving **** out completely.

Biggest disappointment today was Grey. Other than that, i'll take the draw considering the circumstances we were under

Not sure why Amrabat wasn't moved to RB, he's played RWB before.

  14. Absolutely. He wasn't going to get any more Red cards for it, and could have ended up being made a Freeman of Watford.

Showed some character, but let's face it anyone but Brighton would have slaughtered us. Arguably we need a CB now even more than an LB. Cathcart is still crocked after 3 months, Kaboul looks fragile, Kabasele needs 60 minutes to get into a game , and Britos has an IQ matching his shirt number. The only plus point is that Doucoure is worth a defender and a midfielder.

Liking the look of the current bottom three though!

    Great point in the circumstances

Britos is a moron and should be moved on if possible before the window closes. He is not a great player anyway and his wretched disciplinary records makes him a total liability. There was a comfortable three points up for grabs today without his idiocy

Richarlison our best performer once again, thought Doucoure and Femenia also did very well. Gray was poor but a little unfair to judge

Brighton will surely go down based on that, extra man for 70 minutes and they didn't overly trouble us

When you've got a dearth of old defenders, you're gonna have loads of mistakes because they're slow and (somehow) more ill-disciplined

Sakho on loan would be magic, otherwise Ranocchia could be an option. If you're just looking for a squad player Tuanzebe from Mufc would be good as he's under 21.

  21. Can't agree that they didn't trouble us. Crosses coming in constantly at times and they really were close to getting 2-3 goals without hitting the target. With a decent finisher they may just make it, but on the whole, I'd agree, they are likely going down.

HB1 will have this down in his imaginary league as a loss, and will be appealing to the FA not to allow us the point.

Take a point after Britos screwed us. Hopefully he never puts the shirt on again, that was truly a disgusting challenge and could have ended Knockhaerts career.

Should have been an easy 3 points and would have been if we kept everyone on the pitch. On the plus side Brighton are horrendous and will finish bottom so that one less position we have to worry about.

1 point gained considering the circumstances but I honestly feel that this is 2 points dropped. At home against the worst team in the league and we blow it.

Get gibbs in ASAP and another CB.

Cathcart will be out for another 3/4 weeks if he's pulled a muscle. Kaboul injury prone and Britos an absolute liability just like Holebas.

Felt so sorry for Amrabat, he had their full back on toast and embarrassed him twice in the space of 2/3mins. Should have had an assist as well if Gray didn't take an air shot.

Sounds negative but I'd have put Richarlison as fullback and bought on Carillo to keep a threat .... In fact I'd have probably started that way minus Prodl (Brighton aren't a big side). .... I know Richarlison's not a defender but he's sharp at nicking the ball and would still be a threat pushing up.

Oh yes and Gray better buck up or it's £11.5m wasted.

Britos was a numbskull and deservedly sent off for a reckless and dangerous challenge. Amrabat looked much more like the player I remember from last year; he was brave, beat his man and should have had an assist.

MoM goes between Richarlison, Chalobah, Cleverley or Doucoure. Gray was anonymous after a bright start.

They could have scored 4 or 5 and I suspect this will be the story of their season. We were the better team up until that miss by us then momentum shifted.

We got lucky not to concede but they fought like demons to keep it 0-0, Gomes made 2 important saves and commanded his box very well getting a solid connection on crosses.

WHAT THE UTTER F*CK WAS BRITOS THINKING. You daft ****. I think it was as he rose to the height of the arc that I realised there might be trouble coming.

Other than that happy with a point, Brighton had some bl**dy good chances, but we could easily have nicked it at the end.

Knocktart got abuse which was the highlight. Don't bother watching MotD, we'll be last and there are no other highlights.

Got to agree with you on that one, once Cathcart was subbed really left Silva no option but to stick with him for as long as he did. Really needed Troy up there relieving the pressure putting himself about getting the free kicks that he achieved for the little bit he he played. Gray needs that goal get off the mark but was never going to happen today

  27. Silva has had a mare of a week, lets hope he learns the lessons

Don't waste your only LB in a pointless competition like the league cup, that was a perfect opportunity for Mason to get some minutes and Holebas always had a red card in him...

...and don't play our old slow CBs as LBs against a fast winger, you can just about get away with it if we're playing defensive 2 banks of 4 but today was not the time

As for Brighton they are the absolute worst side I have seen in the premier league, totally shocking, any other side would have buried us with 1 man advantage

They are going down, put your life savings and your house on it

Is it true what I read on Twitter, that Gray and Deeney both waved goodbye to the Rookery at the end of the game?

Looked like a walk in the walk till Britos got sent off. The fact Brighton didn't beat us today just show crap they are, guaranteed relegation for me.

Hard to judge anyone considering the circumstances for much of the game.

Gomes kicking was awful but didn't concede so good day.

Prodl was normal Prodl. 7/10 like most weeks.

Kabasele was excellent. MOTM for me, reads the game really well and a bit more 'dynamic' compared to our other CB's.

Femenia looks an excellent buy. Nothing spectacular but a reliable player.

Britos is an absolute idiot, cost us 2 points and should be fined 2 weeks wages. IMO he didn't fancy it against a lively Knockaert.

Chalobah excellent, oozing class and confidence at the moment.

Doccoure probably one notch below his usual self but still good.

Cleverly filled in everywhere so hard to judge but we had him at right back and they still didn't score.

Amrabat was excellent first 10 minutes, poor next 5 then subbed off.

Richarlison is bright and had his mans number, one poor shot but one of the first names on the team sheet for me. Capable of magic, was hard with the 10 men for him. Won LOADS of freekicks.

Gray was shocking. I'm a bit concerned we've bought a dud but again, Britos made it a difficult game for him. The ball didn't stick at all, looked like he was jogging at 80% when chasing down their centre backs, didn't even bother contesting in the air, didn't win any freekicks. And it looked like he missed a sitter from Amrabat's cross but need to see a replay, if so that's 3 sitters in 3 games which is really not on. Worrying but not a write off yet obviously. As soon as Deeney game on, the ball stuck a bit more up top, pressure was relieved.

Whilst I was writing I forgot about Carillo which sums up his performance. Was anonymous bar one half exciting run but yet again Britos's stupidness meant he didn't really have a licence to attack.

What on earth was that indirect FK about? New rules?

A 0-0 was still more interesting to watch than much of last season's tosh so I won't complain. 3 games in and unbeaten, really can't complain :)

Overall would take the point. However opposition look like they will struggle this year. So feels a bit more like missed two.

Thought we bossed the middle and Doucoure and Chalobah are making hell of a partnership there. Great engine to the team.
Worryingly we have a lack of defenders with another 2 out, surely need a signing here b4 window shuts. Brito' s was stupid Again! Not sure why he needed to make that challenge as aggressive and late as he did. Put the team under doo much pressure. Hopefully he can serve his ban somewhere else.
Up front I think Gray was a bit isolated perhaps, didn't really have a great game. Thought his movement could have been better and hold up play he could do better. Take a leaf from Deeneys book as straight away he demonstrated how to relief pressure through good hold up play.
Game was far to aerial but to be far I think that was mainly from Brighton as Chalobah and Doucoure were just too good for them.
    Good game though.

We did enough to get the point today.

Britos' decision was one of the most stupid I have ever seen - why do that when Knockaert wasn't going anywhere and heading towards the touchline? Gomes was superb, and Doucouré and Chalobah battled hard. Cleverley was disappointing, as was Gray. I have been a fervent defender of Amrabat, but today was just not good enough. Femenìa was enthusiastic, if quiet, and Richarlison tried hard.
I think Silva still has a lot to learn, and I am confident he will.

    Kaboul - Bye
    Cathcart - Bye
    Janmaat - Bye

Restricting what we can do each game massively, get rid.

In what world!? He played around 20 minutes and was easily our best player in the first ten, should definitely have had an assist if it wasn't for an air kick!
