Interestingly, on the KUMB site, there are a lot of comments saying how much fitter our players looked than theirs.

We've now also got 5 goals from players other than Iggy and Troy already compared to 9 for the whole of the last season.

Last season it took us 10 games (Stoke away) to score our 7th goal of the season..

    This season it's taken 4!

On the flip side, we'd already kept 2 clean sheets by this stage of last season, and another one game in GW5.

Give me a 4-2 over a 2-0 win any day though!!

Great result. Pereyra looked excellent again.

Only because he was the one who ended up challenging Antonio. Deeney's role was the free man at the near post to head anything away from the six yard box and he did pretty well to recognise the danger and try to get out to Antonio. It was one of Holebas or Capoue who let him run unchallenged from the penalty spot, and having watched it back pretty sure that Capoue was marking Kouyate.

Capoue was good last season but really needed to add goals to his game to be a top PL player, he has well and truly done that now!

Our strength in depth looks fantastic this season (although not sure if we have great cover for Pereyra). Should be a very exciting season.

I would still rate him better as a defender than Amrabat, and all his idiosyncrasies he's entertaining to watch, you can't deny that.

Who would you replace him with, given we aren't exactly blessed with options in either wide position on that side?

That's the last major piece missing I think - back up for Pereyra. He's so important in this formation. I'd guess it's something we'll be looking into for January - don't think we really need much else.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great result, but looking closely, all of our goals should've been prevented by even semi-competent defending and goalkeeping.

It shows character to get back into the game, but other premier league teams will not be as bad as West ham.

    My ratings:

Gomes - should've done more for both goals and caught more.

Britos - mugged off by Payet
Cathcart - mugged off by antonio
Kaboul - would've been ok if the header for the goal by okaka had stood, but as it didn't, not convinced
Jolebas - good that he scored, but as a wing back his job is to stop the opposition putting the ball in at the other end.
Janmaat - inches away from putting through his own net and putting the game out of reach. As a wing back needs to focus on putting the ball in at the other end
Pereyra - nice touches but zero ribenas. No goals either which is worrying
Capoue - worried that his goals are papering over obvious cracks in his game
Behrami - doesn't look like scoring ever, which means the burden is falling on capoue

Deeney - gifted a goal by a defensive howler. Hope it boosts his confidence and he hits the treadmill
Ighalo - lucky deflection to score and failed to hit the target from other chances. Hope he gets his shooting boots back but not convinced he will.

Okaka - so unfit that reportedly couldn't even last 20 minutes. A fitness downgrade on Oulare.
Success - full of running but the lack of goals will be eating at his
    confidence
Prodl - did well and kept a clean sheet during his time on the pitch

  14. Very unfair on Deeney's fantastic finish, on the turn and under time pressure, and if the difference between Kaboul doing well or not is a decision by the ref, then this suggests most strongly that your opinion, a very fair one to have, is possibly being affected by you not taking your happy pills for the last few days.

Of course, I am joking about the pills, so sorry if you haven't actually been taking them.

He had three other good chances to score, and as you yourself said, the best chance missed was down to good defending and looked far from the sitter during the replay that the commentators made it out to be live. And he assisted Holebas, which confirmed that contrary to what many of his critics like to say, there's more to his all-round game than just scoring, so does it really matter if he doesn't hit the scoring heights of the first half of 2015/16?

As for Capoue, I'm not sure what you mean by "obvious cracks". He wasn't so effective in the first half, but that was because he met his match in Kouyate, which not many central midfielders will be able to do this season. Once West Ham seemed to think the job was done and stopped doing the things that made them dominant and in control, he was back to his best.

How many bites are you expecting for that moog? I'll guess at 5.

  20. So who was supposed to be covering the two otherwise unmarked players that Holebas was shielding, who Antonio could have knocked down to unmarked if it were not for the Greek? Or was Holebas supposed to be covering all three?

Sorry, bit of a Holebas fan, so just want to make it absolutely clear that he was not at fault for the their first goal.

It is fair to say he was at fault for our fourth, on a whole number of levels, and showing great industry; thought that was worth a mention as you left it out.

What's your point? Pereyra is a far superior player which is quite obvious. You just sound like a ******* by bringing up Jurado all the time.

The best bit for me is him saying They are singing the pooyet song now.lol,Clueless but honest on Watford destroying them second half and still stayed on to watch the game at 4-2 unlike most ham fans fair play to him.

Enjoyed that, and to be fair to the two lads making the blog they seemed like genuine West Ham fans and its those that are going to suffer in this travesty of a stadium. They desperately need to get organised and sort it out because that sort of toxic atmosphere will work against the team in the end.

To be fair the view of the game was absolutely fine. If you are low down at the pitch side I imagine you've got no chance, but high up its ok. It's the big cavenous drop between the middle and lower tier that is odd.

I've been bringing him up all the time, have I? Lol ok. Either way, there seem to be at least a dozen people who agree with me on the point that I made.

Keep on throwing the unnecessary insults though, you're just proving my point that you are in fact a complete and utter ****. Have a nice day :)

View from lower tier was good to be honest, shame about the rest of the facilitates. Those walkways to get to the lower tier will be carnage come Spurs and Chelsea.

Watch it again, it's not at all clear it wasn't his fault:

    http://www.fullmatchesandshows.com/2016/09/10/west-ham-united-vs-watford-highlights-2/2/

It's four v four in the middle of the box, Britos goes with Reid, Kaboul goes with Collins which leaves Capoue and Holebas marking Antonio and Kouyate. It looks like Capoue gives Antonio a nudge so he can follow Kouyate but then realises that no-one is going with Antonio so starts trying to get over to him but it's too late. Holebas is left at the back post with Kouyate who I don't think was his man. It's difficult to say for definite but one of Holebas and Capoue didn't do their job and to me it looks like it was Holebas, not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things. Deeney certainly wasn't at fault as some others have said.

If Deeney had stayed where he was he could have cleared it. That being said Antonio was virtually left on his own so can understand why Deeney tried to cover.
