It's not the end of the world. Its going to happen this year. We have a very young small side who are going to get thumped every now and again. Survival is the target this year, two or three good results have raised expectation. A bit of a bump down to earth and reality will do us no harm
As i said in the shoutbox. Im sorry, but if graham would has scored that sitter, then cleverly would have tucked away that shot, it would have been 2-2 and a completely different game!!
The last time we got hammered the team came up with 2/3 decent results so hopefully they can do the same now. Pretty poor scoreline (albeit against a strong West Brom side) and annoying because it wipes out the goal difference improvement from last week. Mind you its the fans that paid I'd feel sorry for. Some might say don't get too excited over a win but don't hang yourself over a defeat (albeit bad one)
Awful defending, the midfield looked too narrow and the strikers couldn't get into the game properly. It was a very dissappointing result but I saw a draw as the max we could realistically hope for in this match and to be fair to West Brom they were very good. Good chance to bounce back with the next two games so I won't let this dissappoint me too much and we have exceeded this month so to get a result like this is what has been expected, it just came at a later date then some expected. Fair to the players, they did work very hard and kept trying throughout which although it isn't a great consolation it is nice to see.
Exactly. Bennett was a joke against Coventry so he's obviously not viable yet. My reaction having seen the second half is that it was just woeful, naive play by a bunch of people playing like strangers. I understand and accept that defeats are inevitable due to our circumstances - even ones like this. But the goals conceded were all avoidable. And that's what makes it extra disappointing.
Bennett wasn't great vs Coventry but his performances vs Barnsley and Plymouth were superb. He deserves another chance IMO but at the moment he's ill so I don't know if he'll be ready for next week.
Taught a lesson (defence in particular) by West Brom again. Like Nak said to be fair the players kept going despite the score. At 3-0 thought the score was harsh and couldve been alot different with more clinical finishing (the obvious example being Grahams miss), but then we fell apart as the half went on. Unlucky fans who went, but sure malky will sort them out before two very winnable home games coming up. Think it would be unfair to blame Catchcart solely for the poor defending today, the whole defence was a shambles at times. A 4-1 win to a 5-0 defeat, the joys of supporting Watford.
Cathcart needs to improve dramatically to ever play Championship football let alone for his parent club. Cox's goal was the worst, Moore hardly needed to do anything to brush him off and hold the ball up. Were we beated by a better team? Yes. Was the scoreline a refelction of the game? Pretty much. If we hadn't defended like a bunch of strangers and then managed to have taken a chance here or there, could we have won that game? Very easily.
Feel awful for the poor souls who went to that game. I know we have a young team out there and Malky is doing a fine job, but a 5-0 thrashing is just pants.
We can take this result as a knock on the head, and in all honesty 5-0 was quite flattering to WBA, they were better in both boxes, better finishing and better defending, although the Danny Graham chance could of changed the game, unfortunate that he didn't convert his chance. WBA as people have said are a big club, have solid foundations and according to the commentary, they have enough money in the bank as a surplus for the year. When they got relegated last season, they sold £17 million worth of players, they follow a good, strong model. So in all fairness, we were technically not as bad as the results make us seem, the scoreline did somewhat flatter the home team, we just need to move on, our next three opponents are: Preston (H) Scunthorpe (H) and Crystal Palace (A), all within the next three saturdays, realistically I think we could take another 7 points, what does everyone else think we are capable of?
Drop Cart for a game or two. Bring in Bennet and we should just see if we are a bit more solid if not, hopefully Jay will be back by then and if not we'l just have to stick with Cathcart for a bit longer.
We need a rock at the back, why not try & get Shittu in on loan,he's not even made the bench in he last couple of weeks.
Not concerned by one single result. Was always going to happen somewhere, typlical that it's West Brom. We won't be the last to get a pasting there.
The way we/the league is atm it could be nothing, it could be 9. I'd definately take 5 or over, minimum 3. (and just to be a smartarse its not within the next 3 saturdays, theres an international break in there somewhere)
Had to endure that tripe whilst sat in the baggies stand. No point us playing triangles and short game when it has no end product. Beaten by the better team. End of
We all said October was going to be a horrible month, well we're through it with a lot more points than we thought. Results like these are exceptions rather than the rule. Learn from it, then brush it off and look forward to next week.
Tbf its only a few weeks ago that we said that after Cardiff. Malky has to sort out these capitulations before they become habit forming. Still wuv him though.
No way should Malky go hes only been a manager for 3 months and considering that has done a very good job. none of us were expecting promotion so its quite obvious were going to get beaten by the teams vying for automatic promotion e.g cardiff and west brom, however 5-0 is a bit worrying and we really do need a commanding centre back
to be fair there was still game on second half...if danny put tht one away it could have all changed it....making it 5-1 lol.... so poor on the counter
