As your debate with @WatfordTalk shows this is a really subjective bit of the law and easily arguable either way. Neither of you is wrong. But I personally reckon VAR overturns the lino's call and we get that goal in the Prem.

So what criteria is met when a striker makes a run towards the ball, is correctly flagged off, but hasn't touched the ball yet?

As I say, having an attacker leap for and attempt to head the ball, 1m away from where your standing, is certain to have some sort of impact on your decision making. Remove Sarr and the defender likely attacks that space and gets more distance on the clearance.

Agree, it's a tricky one. I personally think in the PL they delay the flag, and then potentially rule it out with VAR. Especially if we were playing a big team...

So sorry to hear this. The only negative thing about owning a dog is that they are with us for such a relatively short time, but it sounds like Buster had a wonderful life with you.

I don't understand your first question, sorry!

I don't think it makes any sense to imagine removing Sarr from the play as the crosser wouldn't have that option to try and hit, so would've gone to the far post or not crossed it at all!

Anyhow, UEA is right, can be argued both ways, was just trying to make the point I don't think it's clear cut.

Unfortunately it was one of those "grey areas" whereby either decision is the wrong\right one .

Is he though? Genuine question because I thought he was exchanged for Kiko in a deal of convenience that suited all parties? Villarreal got the right back they where interested in, Kiko got his move to sort personal issues and we got a couple of mil and a replacement player on a free from the same club? Wasnt it Villarreal who initiated contact, or perhaps not I cant remember, but either way I'm not sure Mogi would have had too much to do with this deal I would have thought?

As for the offside, watching the highlights put out by the club with the Marks/Mooney commentary they seem to think it was the ref who told the lino to flag for offside for Sarr being in front of the keeper when the shot is taken. In which case var would almost certainly overturn the offside decision since Laird was playing everyone on by a good 4/5 yards

    No no no.

If a decision goes against us it's definitely wrong!

(And I don't even pretend to understand offside law these days)

That is extremely unlikely to be the case, however much of a power-hungry twerp Keith Stroud is.

Got round to seeing it, if you look at the cut of the grass it was more than 36 yards out, at an awkward angle with a player closing him down, and he still did well to get it up and over the keeper, but very unlucky with the bounce! Definitely no foregone conclusion that it should have gone in!

As for the offside, I am still unclear, who would be a linesman!

Surely he would’ve blown his whistle straight away then?

Probably Mooney trying to blame the refs as he isn’t a fan of them.

If var was operating it would be a bit like the 'soft' decision in cricket. If the goal was given var would not overturn it, if the goal was ruled out, as it was, then var would not overturn it either. The reason in either scenario is that it wouldn't be an obvious error.

Fact is Sarr was offside and active, he moved to the ball. The decision was harsh but correct by rule of law.

Harsh on Manaj. Clearly injured after making a great run

The lad looked very upset to be going off

Mmmm, l do happen to know people who go to the game.
If you want to believe that nothing is wrong at Watford, that's fine.

Never mentioned anything about Watford, the game or whether anything being wrong within, thats called "your imagination".

I commented on, someone who had posted three messages/rants within an hour and a bit of the game finishing. All about the game, how the manager looked, players demeanor etc, who never even went to the game but was using third hand information. And then went on to slag off any one who doesn't agree with his 3rd hand observations as not a Watford supporter but a web trawler.
In my humble opinion if you never went, never watched the game in any form but listened to someone you know to form your posts, then your posts on the content of the actual game are irrelevant. Sign them up to post themselves and cut out the middle man.

Good grief! Don't be so naive.
If we follow your rules them almost all on this forum will not be able to post any comment.
I am a crap gambler, but l bet over 70% on this site never go to a Watford game.

There's a difference between posting a comment about the club in general.
    To posting about a game.
If you haven't the seen the game whether in person "Live" or on a stream it's a bit weird to be commenting on nuances such as "the manager looking lost in the dugout", formations or players performances. When in reality you havent a scooby. It's just a guess.
