JP is clearly gone, but I'm hoping that with Sarr given that he travelled with the squad yesterday it was simply a last minute decision as to whether he was ready again given he also missed the mid-week game. It's not unheard of for clubs to run last minute fitness tests on players with niggles prior to a game.
It genuinely looks like a lineup expected in the League Cup on Tuesday or one of those Friendlies where you swap the whole team at HT. Honestly I feel for RE, Duxburry has absolutely shafted him with his "he's here to win the league" comment . . No way on earth does a team this un balanced make it into the top 2.
Someone on Twitter has said 'that XI today would horrify me in league one'. Yes, it is crap, but mid-table Championship crap.
Our team is pretty rank given what it could have been but let's not get carried away, i'd say only Peak Eustace, Murray and Deeney get in our side from that lot.
This is true, and I'm keeping fingers crossed, its just this nagging doubt that we've not truly prepared. Things like the lack of a dedicated RWB despite RE being in place since May don't help my concerns
Pedro and Sarr sold. This is our Championship line up. Man the lifeboats. Woman and children first. Hold on, is that Duxbury and Pozzo on board already - no surprise there. The season could end today.
Saving Davis and Sarr for the cup no doubt. Blimey that does look weak up top. Hope the forward situation sorts itself out asap because we will drop points until it does.
Kayembes best game so far, taking up some really nice positions in attack and had a superb spell on the ball where he sat down 2 Preston defenders before shooting. Just needs the ball to fall nicely for him and I can see him potentially scoring here. Bayo couldn't hit a barn door. Manaj great defensively but just doesn't offer enough in attack, again his decision making has been horrible and basically just shoots whenever he gets the ball, no matter how many people are in front of his shot or who's around him. Bachmann very good again. Hate how little space we leave ourselves to attack when taking corners, all so grouped up by the 6-yard area.
Been more open than was expecting. Not a bad game tbf. Bit harsh on Bayo, true prob couldn't hit a barn door and he fluffed the 1 on 1, but he has won most headers from corners and the odd long ball we've thrown up to him.
If we don’t buy proper replacements for Sarr, JP and Dennis then we might only get 20 goals all season. 3 in 5 is pretty miserable stuff. We might get away with wasting 2 points today, but if that’s the best team we can expect to field all season, it will happen again and again. Mid-table the best we could hope for until a proper striker comes in.
Well, that was a nice taste of things to come. Buckle up and get used to this every Saturday/Tuesday, because it's not going to change anytime soon.
A fantastic away point. Next to zero quality, incredibly boring, no pace or intent, no real goal threat (again), but just what we need in our quest for a comfortable mid-table finish. COYH!
Wow. Not really sure what to say about the finishing of Manaj and Bayo. Wasted 5 or 6 genuinely golden opportunities to score. Only early on but it’s looking like shocking recruitment yet again. But what’s new?
