Think the main problem is that, as posters here have already attested, Preston this season are incredibly well-organised and defensively solid. It's a fair enough question with every starboi we have left on the pitch, but with this lineup, who exactly is going to be unlocking them?
Apart from 2 LWBs and no RWB, this looks like the closest we've seen to Rob ball this season in terms of the type of player in each position. 3 at the back, 2 decent wing backs capable of getting up and down, 3 in midfield with a midfielder playing #10 and 2 up front including a target man. Am I wrong?? The bench is shocking. Diabolical.
I was thinking the same. It’s certainly the weakest line up we’ve fielded for a league game since the Pozzo’s took over. Maybe Edwards is trying to make a point? These are the players you’ve given me so this is the team I’m going to pick.
I'm going to an awful middle-class Ibiza DJ afternoon thing at a pub, it now seems the sensible choice.
Possibly his preferred style, but not his preferred playing staff. Looks like we will get a glimpse into the future today after the Window shuts in just over a week.
Really disappointing to see the squad in such a state this late in the window. I personally do not think there is time to create a promotion squad out of this (assuming Pedro and Sarr are gone) I’d say around 50% of todays squad are not up to standard for a team supposedly aiming for top 6 let alone top 2. Several should have been moved on a long time ago, and almost all recent recruits seem distinctly average.
Some of the players have changed as there was a midweek match. Edwards is putting out his 'freshest' side having worked with them since midweek is my thinking.
"We've got Super Mogi Bayat...." "He knows exactly what we need..." "Wing backs getting slack" "Nothing in attack" "We have said goodbye to Premier League" Sorry I know this is an annoying anthem but blame that line up.
I feel sorry for all those fans who have made that long trip to see our Carabao Cup side play in a league game.
Why are people judging the team before the match? If Preston make us look silly and beat us I can understand it, but before a game, having started the season unbeaten makes no sense to me. And in case any of you have forgotten, we are now playing in the Championship
They will say it’s positive the likes of Forde got on the bench etc as a way of saying we are giving youngsters a chance . But it very much does have a feel of a mid table Championship team doesn’t it ? Some good players , some average and ones who wouldn’t play if all were “fit”
Don't know but his namesake make some pretty good cars and vans, so he is hopefully motoring to get on and drive us to victory.
JP and Sarr are off then, would be foolish to involve them if so. Will be interesting to see how Bayo and Menaj fair together. Asprilla gets another game under his belt, wont be long until he is running games. COYH!
Rob Edwards was appointed on 11th May. We knew what league we were going to be in and we knew what system he played. It's now 20th August and we have no left sided centre back, a right wing back that can't start two games in a week, no creative midfielder and have spent a total of £5m, all on a Mogi Bayat player. Have the club changed? Have they f*ck.
Genuine question, is this our worst 18 we've put out in the League since Pre-Pozzo? I think it might be. Without Sarr or Pedro there are no 'Match winners' there.
Credit to Sam Street for this. This was Watford’s last line up before the Pozzo’s took over. Is today’s team better or worse? Scott Loach Lloyd Doyley Martin Taylor Carl ****inson Nyron Nosworthy Prince Buaben John Eustace Jonathan Hogg Sean Murray Troy Deeney Chris Iwelumo
When I picked him and his late brother Arthur up from Scratching Posts Sanctuary he was very reserved. In the subsequent eleven years he's matured into a very assertive, confident errr cat! Currently sleeping in the translation/football chair. That line up strikes me not weak, more like a fortnight. Bang goes Voulez Vous for certain.
