Hi I've been lurking on this forum for about a month now and some of the posts are priceless . Quite a few times I have laughed so much it really hurt. I have been subscribed on WML for 15 years or more but dont have a huge amount of time to contribute much. Been a season ticket holder in the past and have signed up the whole tribe in the family stand on 75 mile tickets as we live in Manchester. Starting to get a bit impatient waiting for the start of the season. Looking forward to all the signings being confirmed but part of me hopes it'll not get too much press so we can surprise everyone again.

Thanks for the welcome, cant lay fame for the avatar, "stole it" from Italian Watford Supporters facebook page, but seems rather apt at the moment so thought I would use it. Hope its not against the rules!!

    Hey everyone,

I'm new here and just thought I'd pop in and say 'Hello'. I'm actually an Arsenal fan, but follow everything Algerian football. So to help track Belkalem's progress, I figured there's no better way than to talk to genuine, real fans. I'll hopefully be able to catch a lot of matches this season (unfortunately missed Bournemouth today), so, who knows, I might end up developing a soft spot for Watford.

I dunno if many of you remember Hameur Bouazza. He was quite good for you guys the last time you were in the PL. Scored that spectacular overhead bicycle against United in one of the cups (think it was the FA). So yeah...

Here's to a healthy and lengthy Algerian-Watfordian relationship.

    Long may it prosper :party1:

I lived in Algeria for a while. In Sidi-bel-Abbes, which was the old headquarters of the foreign legion.

A beautiful country, friendly people and some tremendous mediterranean beaches - which are almost completely empty!

So I understand. An ex girlfriend of mine from East Germany shortly after the Berlin Wall came down were planning on crossing north Africa from west to east. We were barely days from leaving but her father's death put paid to the whole thing. I never got a chance after that and is still in my top 5 list of must-see places before I die.

I knew someone who bought cheap hash there only for the dealer to tip off his policeman brother.

    Neither, I live in Canada!

But I have been to London to watch Arsenal at the Emirates a few times. Was thinking of doing something similar this winter, but adding Watford to the itinerary.

Yes the beaches are something else. I've never been to Sidi Bel Abbes, but I've heard loads of good. I myself am from Constantine, if you've heard of it. More in the East, so nowhere near where you were.

Thanks for the kind words though.

Wow, that's such a shame. Sounds like quite the expedition, though I dunno how safe it'd be with the political turmoil in the region at the moment. Tunisia and Libya, which used to be two of the friendlier nations to foreigners, have completely transformed. I'd give it some time before embarking on that journey.

Corruption is unfortunately rife in most African countries and Algeria's no exception. Sorry to hear that, especially as the hash there is crap anyways!

Well I haven't visited Constantine, but I certainly know the beautiful women from that city. They had a particular distinctive veil that they wear as I remember.

Wow yeah that's kind of an ancient tradition though! No one wears those anymore what with globalization and all that. I don't know about them being beautiful, but I do know they make some wonderful pastas. I make sure to fill my belly every time I go.

Oh yeah and wanted to thank you all for the warm welcome! Looking forward to watching my first Watford match as a supporter on Saturday (after I download it because they play at the same time as Arsenal).

Hi everyone, i'm Andy and been following Watford since about 1997. Being from Newcastle the toon are my first team followed closely by the hornets. All came about when I first started playing champ manager and randomly picked Watford to start out with....and followed ever since! Doesn't seem like 5 days since I bought my Watford shirt with the trusty Robert page's name and number on the back! Great days! Have only been to one Watford game when they played Newcastle with Newcastle winning 1-0. Watching a match with split loyalties isn't good!
The main reason I have joined up is I have got a ticket for the away match with middlesborough in 2 weeks time and trying to find anyone going to tag along with before hand for a few drinks and enjoy the occasion! Any info would be great on pubs, times, who to look out for, etc. Cheers to anyone who reads and replies!

Welcome to the forums. We have quite a few non-hornets or 2nd teamers here so you won't feel left out. Especially from Sister clubs Udinese & Granada

Here's a good start in the matchday arrangements section

    Hello,

Another newbie to the forum so thought I would stick my head above the parapet and introduce myself to you good people. I've been a Watford fan for 33 years, the first game being a 4-0 demolition of Burnley at home in 1980 (if memory serves Malcolm Poskett bagged a couple) and have been following ever since through the good times and the bad. Was a season ticket for 12 years in the Vic Road end and then the Rookery.

Lived in Tring in my formative years before moving to Nottingham for University and then London for work. Decided that I fancied living abroad for a bit in 2009 and moved to Stockholm where I lived for 3 years, am currently living in Reykjavik where EVERYONE apparently knows Heidar Helguson.

    skál !!
