Is in talks about a move to Watford according to the 'Transfers' section of the SSN news stories thing at the bottom of the page. Would be a decent signing...capable of playing CB or RB.
Well he's more of a centre back than a full back. Blunts fans are baffled why they started him there when they had a full time right back on the bench. That Captain Marvel for you
Their fans were apparently annoyed that Nobsor turned down a 400k bid from Plymouth for him yesterday
I would be annoyed if he was anything more than a squad player, to play at CB while Shittu is away and to fill in for Lloyd in case he gets injured. Aidy had seriously better be making moves for a centre-mid, as that is still the area we most urgently need someone else in.
After the match last night he named that position as one he was definitely looking to strengthen, be it by loan or transfer. Time will tell though I guess.
isn't Bromby the guy that had a mare when we did them 4-1 in the promotion season. If I remeber right Hendo battered him all over the park? I wouldn't be overly excited by this, as above would rather we got a rb in
Exactly what I was about to say! King and Hendo roasted him that night! I remember King's first goal that put us 2-0 up...out-paced and out-muscled him. No thanks.
Please not, not a good player at all, an average championship player at best, and we have too many of them already:dismay:
I'm shocked about the negativity about this one if I'm honest. According to most Blunts fans he's been a revelation since he returned to the team in the new year at centre back, though struggled against Wednesday by all accounts. He's very competent at this level and could be just the experienced player that Jay needs to hold his hand from time to time. For about £500k I'd say we can't go wrong.
Lump. Colin signed him from Wednesday. He's competent at this level IMO and made 17 Prem appearances.
Are we sure this shouldn't read 'Put him at centre back on Saturday, move Mariappa to right back and move Doyley to QPHAHA? Not that I want Lloyd to go, but how much of the hoops cash would it take? He seems more a Doyley replacement than a Davenport one.
Average defender and if i remember rightly was he the w@nker givin it large to the rookery when we cocked up a 2-0 lead against them at the vic.
You think? Wouldn't it be easier to just sign a right back? I think a CM is much more important than signing a RB/CB He is no better than what we've currently got, Put Marriapa at CB on saturday and just wait for Danny then sign Davenport in the summer.
It said last night on Skysports News we were in discussion with him. Expect to see it tied up later today.
Aidy just cannot win on the transfer front with some of us. He went and got Davenport and was v unlucky there. He was/is mostly looking to strengthen other position (c/mid and l/back). He got a decent full back and in the meantime we are looking a bit short at c/back in DS' absence. So he tries to find adequate cover at that position too (Bromby, who is decent at this level and wont use too much of any budget he has for centre mid etc). And he's getting it in the neck for that. We need to get some perspective on the juggling he is trying to do. he clearly does not have a large budget for this window and is seeking to solve a number of issues. By the way, we are probably trying to sign Whelan and may miss out to WBA. No doubt Aidy will get stick if we end up not getting a centre midfielder simply because we tried but the player chooses to go elsewhere. In the real (football) market this happens to everyone.
A fair/fayre post. Can't disagree with that. No one can make Whelan et al come here, it's ultimately up to the player. However I don't think Aidy's style of play will encourage ball players like Whelan to join (yes I know, yawn, long ball blah blah blah, but it's true, why would a decent midfielder that likes the ball at his feet join us over WBA?) I may have slated Bromby yesterday, that's due to the hammering he took at BL a couple of years ago when we won 1-4. That sticks in the memory. I guess all players have an 'off day'...I also said the same about Shittu when we signed him from QPhahaha...I had only seen him play against us and he was terrible everytime...so I judged him on that. If Bromby signs then i'll cheer him on, like any other Watford player (apart from Smith when he initially came back )
Good post. I truly feared this window but actually think it's turned out to be Aidy's best one yet. Okay so we lost Marlon but he wanted to go. But Aidy managed to bring in CJ on loan with a view, Sadler permanently and Callum Davenport on loan with a view. If we get no one else, I'd still say he's done well. He came out stating he wanted a left back, a central midfielder, a central defender and a left wing. The three he did get all matches the mould I want him to get - i.e. players who are improvements on what we have and capable of stepping it up when we get to the premiership. I believe CJ, CD and MS all fit the bill. I don't think we'll get in a central mid or a left winger. The central mid is the worst to miss out on because Jordan Stewart can act as cover on the left wing. So Aidy managed to get in 50% of what he wanted. That's not bad and in Aidy's can it's very very good. I have no doubt he's tried to get in left wingers and holding mids - but there just aren't that many around who fit the bill. And I for one will rather stick with what we got than see him bring in another questionable signing.
News on bbc states it's a 750k offer. We're discussing personal terms. I don't know the player other than by name but I can't help but think if 750k players at the close of the window isn't a panic buy and if so - do we really need him? Is he better than Mariappa, Doyley and Jackson?
