We won't be seeing Tufan at least until after the international break. From a red country I'm pretty sure he should isolate and then there is the fitness issue. If he is involved it would be a major surprise. Having seen our real standard last week I believe we will get a win. I'm going for 0-2 Watford Success with a farwell brace as we launder more money. Just to remind you that he originally cost the Pozzo's only 400k ! Obviously King and Sema the scorers.
When defending corners, if we leave Sarr, Dennis and Sema/Cucho (depending on who's playing) upfield, they will think twice about throwing to many CBs into the area.
lol what? It's Brighton, hardly notorious for making noise - sure, first game back then again it was our first game back against Villa and whilst the atmosphere was decent, it was hardly 'electric'
we never do this or anything like it. So we end up with them throwing as many forward as they want and our keeper having 20 players to get through to try to claim the ball. HAs been like this for years and it still does my head in
First time I remember having every player back was under Malky who often stated that statistically fewer goals were conceded. I have no stats to back up this next claim, but surely if everyone is back, the opposition get a free second phase and an extra chance to score.
Apparently there's been a pandemic knocking around and Brighton are taking it seriously.... which induced a COVID pass panic on my part...sorted now... but if you think the ticketing at the Vic was tricky then double down with the need for a covid pass at the AMEX to get in. (sorry if this has been posted before... thought it might save unhappiness at the stadium in case others were in my boat of thinking the 2 vaccine paper card thingy would be enough) https://www.brightonandhovealbion.c...ce-for-anyone-attending-the-amex-this-season/
Brighton v Watford (17:30) Both these sides were winners on the opening weekend but it is Brighton who I think will build on that here. Watford surprised me against Villa but I don't see them getting too many points on the road. This might be one of the games the Hornets see as winnable, though, so it could turn out to be a little bit more open than people expect. Lawro's prediction: 2-1 Dan's prediction: 1-1 Just in case anyone was worried about missing it, here's Lawro's detailed prediction on the game this weekend. Glad I soaked this one in and took my time to read the details.
I just wish he was honest and said: I didn't watch either of Brighton's or Watford's games last week, not even the goals. I was banking on Villa winning because they are more massive and have massive players. So, a prediction, Brighton are home, Watford are away and just been promoted, I have no idea who plays for either team so I'll suggest home 2, away 1 and hope I'm right.
Yes, I remember this too - I think at the time we had Scott Loach in goal and it always looked like an accident waiting to happen as he could never get anywhere near the first ball, even when it should have been his to claim
I'm sure @reids is the person to shed light on this. I can't think of many sides that do it, but it does seem to me that the threat of a counter would mean that you take their focus off attacking. All players back just gives you that 96th minute corner feeling where you know a goal is coming
And Garth Crooks has phoned in his team of the week early... "any 4 from Liverpool, 3 from Manu U, 2 from Man City, 1 from Chelsea, and as I had a token Leicester player last week, someone from Everton. Richarlison I think his name is, Kr, Garth"
Why does Garth Crooks Team of the Week seem to matter so much to so many people? I genuinely can't think of anything less important - except, perhaps, Lawro's score predictions
This is a real hobbyhorse of mine. Bringing everyone back just invites pressure and chaos in the box. Let the defenders defend. I remember the glorious day when Tranmere came to Vicarage Road with Aldridge as player manager. When we got a corner they kept three right up on the half-way line; one in the middle and the others right out on either wing. Watford didn't have a clue how to deal with it. Of course we had to keep four defenders back but even then there was loads of space for a potential counter attack.
Yeah....unfortunately the quality of punditry is very limited. I mean Crooks and Lawrenson......how are they relevant anymore? (if ever they were). Even on Sky, all they care about are the top six. No one else matters. They did a feature on Watford's transfer dealings yesterday. The two "experts" were asked for their opinions on Watford's transfer dealings. Up popped all the signings we made on the screen. Michael Bridge was asked who is Watford's best summer signing (he's a Spurs fan) so obviously went for Danny Rose. Jess Creughton was the other "expert" and was only left with the other one (who either of them had heard of) and went for Joshua King. It's just so pathetic really. They need to employ people who have a real interest in football at every level, who have real knowledge of players and clubs. The show would be so much better for it....and that goes for TalkSport, BBC, SkySports and other other media outlet you could care to think of. Shame The Athletic don't have a TV show. They have real experts who do proper features and every piece is thoroughly researched.
I can't see them checking Covid passes too thoroughly - maybe 1 in 50 will be picked out at random and asked to show their 'papers'. It's got the potential to be absolute chaos if they do try to check everyone.
I can't think of any ex-pro pundits who are relevant. Even Souness - who I used to like - comes across as a slightly shagged out miserable b@stard these days.
Souness still makes for a good watch. Like Roy Keen, he brings the slight air of menace of a genuine psychopath to the studio. Even at his age it feel things could kick off at any minute if someone says the wrong thing.
I saw that and basically thought the same thing as you HB They so obviously did not have a clue about WFC, but they did manage to mention Deeney as well of course
All those media outlets know that a large number of their audience support the big 6 teams so they feel they are on safe ground concentrating on them for the most part. What they don't seem to realise is that loads of people do not support those teams and added together they are the majority whose backs are permanently put up by the coverage.
Caught Mustard bowled Onions. Classic, although not quite "The bowler's Holding, the batsman's Willey'.
