I've now checked out all the commestible recommendations on this thread thus far. All seem rather good. Much better than relying on any other source for information as at least all of those on here will be genuine. But I do have to say that your recommendation, the Baqueano Steakhouse, is the most expensive by a country mile. Now, I'm sure their steaks are to die for, having sampled the genuine article in the delusional land of the 'Malvinas believers' on a few occasions, but it does strike me that a slap-up feed for the family at this joint would be somewhat stretching the budget of one reliant on a Cuban wage structure. Over to you.
The first should have been stopped by the right back & for the second no-one tracked the midfield runner (who had, admittedly, only just come on). That type of pull back is difficult for the facing-up full back to cut out....he has to rely on others getting to the cross.
Yes it was very expensivc! It was a treat from Lilly Longtongue, our daughter, because of her graduation and because me and Ciff went down and helped her clean up her rent house before she moved out.
Ha! The nickname was given to her by Ciff, because with our Lil there's no secrets. She'll tell all your business to everyone. A gossiper.
Five of us went to the Div 4 game there in Sept 1974 & as the old Goldstone Ground was in Hove rather than Brighton, we got a bit lost trying to find it. Eventually we spotted an elderly woman walking her dog so, for some reason, decided to stop and ask her for directions. So this slightly battered Cortina Mk 2 containing 5 youths festooned in yellow and black scarves and draping from a rear window a flag bearing the legend 'WFC....Luton Scum Will Die' or somesuch pulled up alongside her to ask: 'Excuse me. Do you know the way to the football ground?' . She ummed and ahhed a little, and then said with a beaming smile: ' Well, lovey, there is a park at the top of this hill where they kick a ball about of an afternoon sometimes.' With which, off she strolled leaving us to our consternation. And we lost 2-0. We were heroically crap back then.
Was at the TO yesterday. Apparently the B&HA tickets will be issued by e-mail which I presume is a further one to the initial confirmation. I have no idea whether that will include a barcode thingy or not. Spurs tickets will be paper ones through the post. Home fixtures will all be barcodes on our phones. Hope that helps. Not exactly 'joined up thinking' between clubs.
That was my gap year before Uni so with the funds gained from digging roads for the local council I went to every game home & away apart from about 4 that season....maybe that's why I'm more sanguine than some about not being an established top 10 EPL club...
Avoiding defeat would be good with this one. Certainly capable of winning it but who really knows just how much better we are than many thought, or just how bad Villa were compared to what everyone thought. If, by any means possible, we were to win this then getting to at least 6 points after 3 games for the first annoying break would be immense. Genuinely as interested in how we perform at this stage as much as the result. If we lose, what is the manner of the defeat. We’ve got a number of reportedly fractus personalities so it will be telling how they react to a set back. Hopefully not this weekend but equally don’t want it to be a proper hiding at Spurs either. Hell, let’s hope we don’t have any meaningful setback and can look forward to European football next season!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
For those that want a cheaper alternative that will go down nicely after a few pints - Burger Brothers in Brighton town centre do the nicest burger I've ever eaten in my life - https://www.burgerbrothersbrighton.co.uk/index?l=en
Pretty much my thinking. Brighton are often considered as annual relegation-fighters, but I think they have had a half-decent team for a year or so. Where they have been weak is in goal-finishing and it remains to be seen if they've corrected that. their mid-field and defence have been well-disciplined and competent and they can be difficult to score against. Villa, I thought, were poor against us, esp in the first half: I could not believe how ill-prepared they were and they appeared to lack teamwork, any sort of plan and much spirit. Did they really think they could just leave Sarr to get on with it? OK, Dennis and Etebo and Cuchka were new, but they had to know about Sarr. Their coach - any good? I was delighted with our goals, but in fact we spurned a number of chances; and Cucho's was a 'worldy' - is he going to produce one of those every other game? All in all I don't think I'm being overly pessimistic to say I'd take a draw.
We were. It remains to be seen if that's still true, given the rapid counter attacking style we were playing against Villa. That should be quite effective away from home, and our new look midfield has been highly promising so far.
*Straw-clutching alert* Maybe he isn't! Maybe Chalobah can come back and we can play Etebo-Chalobah-Louza! Maybe we'll sign Tufan! Maybe we don't even need a midfield!
Our poor away form in recent seasons has been down to negative tactics and a lack of bottle and team spirit. These all seem to have been addressed this year (Luton apart); our away form in the first season after the previous promotion was actually pretty good up to the cup game against Arsenal.
Sounds like a pretty unreliable sauce to me. The article claiming this injury spells him as Kukoc at one point and claims Cleverley is a 26 y.o. Cleverley is 32. Quite likely to be filed under 'utter b.llocks' then.
Their forum is an absolute disgrace. A horrific mishmash of topics ranging from football to Afghanistan to horse racing. I'm now going to bed furious because of what I've just seen. Thanks Brighton you bunch of thundering dullards.
Do they still have that laughably tall bloke playing left-back? The one who looks like he should play basketball, but for a joke one day, someone made him play left-back and it just stuck. Sarr will make mincemeat of him. Another Saturday, another substandard left-back left sifting through the ashes of his career, searching for something, anything, the smallest glimmer of a sign that one day he’ll be able to lay in bed at night without the ghoulish memories of what our hero did to him. Clock’s ticking, big fella.
I agree. I’ve just got back from a couple of days there and we had a great time despite the dodgy weather. The three 15 year olds we had in tow loved exploring the Lanes and I don’t agree with the post that said they’ve lost their quirkiness. The teens spent a whole afternoon shopping there and came back with a haul that included clothes, jewellery and vinyl. I overheard one shop/stall owner telling someone he’d been there for more than 25 years. (As an aside, I did enjoy seeing the looks of disbelief on their faces when we went into an art gallery and found ourselves looking at a signed copy of that picture of dots by Damian Hirst that was for sale for a mere £22,000.) Yes, of course the town’s pretty touristy and especially at the moment - it’s packed with Brits who have gone there rather than abroad. Being with a group of teens who hadn’t been there before, though, I enjoyed embracing my inner tourist and doing things I wouldn’t have otherwise - the pier for example which we embraced with all its tackiness and which, with its rides, was perfect entertainment for the teens in non beach weather. Going back again for the match on Saturday - probably my favourite away day as Brighton is one of the few grounds that seems to genuinely welcome away fans.
Man I hate this new ticketing system, bought 4 tickets to Brighton (a) and one of them is using a mates fan ID, the club have only gone an emailed all the tickets separately and my mate is currently away with the navy ffs!
