Reckon this has gone through as Kipre Joined West Brom.

He was likely Bristols first choice,

We may have enquired about mawson but I doubt he was our first choice.

I reckon it will be quiet on troost-ekong until it happens as it's in house talks.

Shouldn’t that make it the quickest and easiest deal? ‘Do you want to join Watford?’ Yes/No...Simple. Could be done in a day or 2 max surely.

I doubt Mawson was our first choice too. I doubt we have a first choice. I bet our first choice is to stick with what we have yet again and add that Udinese lad who couldn’t get a game in Serie B last season.

I'd like to think a defensive duo of Kabasele/Wilmott/Cathcart or Dawson would be decent enough in the Championship against most attacks if they are fit and in form..

2 are International players, another experienced Championship performer and the other our next great hope it seems.

The issue will be if we get injuries...and someone like Kabasele decides to go into losing concentration mode.

I think Mawson is in the category of Kabasele. He has the attributes to be a good player and if you catch him on a good day he looks a decent player, but he has far too many **** days. Not upset to have missed out on him.

I would guess Troost Ekong needs some convincing. I suspect he is assessing his options before committing to dropping a league.

They'll be adequate for sure. But I guess that's the point. Those in charge went with them for a few seasons in the Premier League without bothering to try and upgrade. They are absolutely clueless when it comes to defensive scouting and recruitment.

Isn't he Ryan's less talented twin?

Yes I agree generally we need upgrades.

I mean Dawson and Cathcart won't cut in the Premier league if we went up hence relying on Wilmott.

They are adequate at best. But as it stands, I expect Wilmot to be 4th choice initially out of that lot - and he’s the one who I think can play with the ball at his feet. The evidence is there that the other 3 can’t and prefer to whack it long.

Seeing them as adequate is part of what has landed us here. I just think it’s time to address the issue. Or we are destined to repeat the same mistakes yet again.

Kabasele in this division terrifies me. Cathcart whilst a decent option, I think he’s shown what he offers and I think we need to move on from him being a regular. Dawson and Wilmot could have something about it if we don’t add anyone and I’d see that as a potential partnership to build on. But it’s a position of real worry for me and has been for a number of years. I think if we can add a quality recognised, instant starter in the position and bin off Kabasele, we’ll look better.

But over the next few windows, I think save for Wilmot, they really need to acquire new options.

Gone to Bristol City, thank goodness. Terrible terrible defender. At least that’s 6 points guaranteed this season.

Will be interesting to see how he performs at Bristol City, I personally think we missed a bullet by not signing him!

No, we're not getting ready to put in a bid so don't panic!

I've just read he's undergoing knee surgery today with no timescale set for his return. And while Bristol City only signed him on loan, they declined the January call-back Fulham were supposedly wanting so now it seems they're stuck with him for the duration.

I can't verify that last bit but the fact he'll be out for some time means bullet dodged.

That's lucky. The knee injury unit in our medical centre is packed to the rafters as it is

If there had been an actual bullet it would have hit him anyway

Was just so predictable. That is 3 knee surgeries since Fulham bought him in 2018.

Would have been Danny Welbeck 2.0
