Well Van Dijk not what we need though is he? He's too Dutch for a start. We don't have any Dutchmen in our squad so that doesn't work. Besides, the last Dutchman we signed didn't work out in the slightest. He also has a racy hairdo which is an automatic no in my book.
Seen Fulham fans say they rate his ability and that he's performed in flashes, but that injuries have taken their toll. I suppose if he can stay fit, he could be a good signing, but I'd rather have Troost-Ekong
I laughed at Fulham for signing him, as he was always pants, but somehow got an overrated opinion which clubs bought into. Maybe because he was young and English. Now he's not so young & injury prone. The promise people thought he had never materialised. This is why I don't think he'll be a good signing. He's not a massive upgrade on what we have, so we may as well save our money and keep what we have. Only sign someone when he's clearly a cut above the average defenders we currently have.
So in this morning’s discussions when I mentioned I thought we were light in attack, the common consensus seemed to be that we are now in the Championship and everybody up front would magically morph into prolific strikers simply because of the big drop in class between the PL and our new division. Strange that the same logic isn’t now being applied to defenders isn’t it. Gray and Deeney will score for fun but Dawson, Wilmot, Cathcart, Mawson if he comes etc will all still struggle to defend at this new lower level.
Well I can't say i've watched an awful lot of him, but he was talked about as a potential Enlgand captain a few years ago and he seemingly fits into how Ivic would like to play, and he knows the league and how to get out of it. Ticks a lot of boxes...
This is a tough one. A good player he may be. On the other hand, I see he's part Nigerian. Now, should his semi compatriot in Success lurk around him like a bad smell, we may end up with 2 footballers drowning in Bailey's and call girls.

Seriously can’t stress enough how crap he is. Anytime we played Swansea or Fulham I would be begging him to be on the team sheet because I knew we would win. He is atrocious. How people think this is a good idea is ridiculous. He cost Swansea and Fulham points multiple times. Had one good season, got hyped and was duff afterwards. I didn’t think our defence could get any worse but if we sign this duffer then we have truly made our defence worse. He is crap. We don’t need him. Willmott and one of the Udinese centre backs is enough cover. Mawson is no better than Dawson, Kabs or Cathcart; arguably worse
Back in the mists of time he was a a good prospect, but that was all. One who could potentially become a very good player but subsequently didn't. The lower leagues are full of such players who for a variety of reasons never made it. Injury prone as well , fits in nicely.
