So now the story seems to be:

We sell him for €7.5m and have a 50% sell on.

Granada can pay off our 50% sell on for €7.5m if they wish.

This sounds awful. Essentially, we have put a ceiling on the deal at €15m...

If Suarez is great next season and one of the big teams come calling for say €40m, Granada will simply pay us the extra €7.5m and remove our right to €50% of the €40m. If this is true, there is no way we'll get a penny more than €15m, whereas a flat sell on of 50% would fetch us €20m in this scenario.

If he is a dud, we'll likely not make much more than the initial €7.5m.

If I've understood correctly, we'll get a minimum of €7.5m and a maximum of €15m even if Granada sell him for €100m.

    Crazy deal.

Getting what could add up to around €50m for Lukebakio, Estupiñan and Suarez with none of them ever starting for us or wanting to play for us is a pretty impressive side hustle. Even if Estupiñan is better than King Ken I'd rather have Ken at LWB due to his attitide and commitment. Anything could happen with Suarez in la liga but he sure as hell isn't better than JP or Sarr and Gray is a safer bet for us given his champo experience. Lukebakio is an ok mid table Bundesliga player, the deal was good for both parties. If Lukebakio wanted to play for us it wouldve made sense to bring him in last season and sell Pereyra. But he wanted to stay in Germany. All in all good business separate from our actual squad. Chelsea do this all the time and make a lot of $$$. Its great making this kindof dosh on the side but if we get back to the prem dont forget to actually buy the players we need for the team too eh Gino!

Lukebakio did want to play for us - that was precisely the problem. We signed him on the understanding he would play, but instead Carillo was constantly picked over him despite his dreadful form and poor attitude.

I broadly don't have an issue with us doing this, if we actually used the money to buy players that weren't useless ***** like Dawson, Pussetto et al.

Is it just the words "getting" "€50m" and "dosh" that you do agree with ?

Unless it's a guaranteed €15m AND a 50% sell on fee then I cannot see this deal as anything more than shambolic.

If it is the above then it's poor but not terrible.

The details of the loans are in the accounts if you bother to look. And that’s just at 2018 so things will be much worse.

Mind you in your Walter Mitty world no doubt the CFO probably tweeted you and gave you updated low down and we are all good.

Not entirely correct I am referring to a small group of people that like to make snide little put downs about people on this forum and use secretive acronyms as a clique.

I would not include many people with a different view to myself as being part of this clique and I find that there are posters with a different view to myself who make reasoned and well thought out arguments, yourself included, without the need to put people down. I don’t use the term to refer to anyone with a negative perspective of the Pozzos.

I’ve always sought to argue that things are more nuanced then the polar opposite views presented. For instance in the past I have been critical of failure to address the defence, as well as straight away the second coming of Flores and the appalling decision to get Murray. However, I can see that the Pozzos have been great for the club and got lots of things right as well giving us amazing experiences and memories. Does that make me a COG? Yes, I suspect so to people of a certain character.

And yeah I get it that you can rightly say I’m making snide little remarks and digs myself, so yes I’m probably guilty as charged.

Which in comparison to every other club we’re stable. It’s cool if you wanna get a lil riled up about things, but please at least do the research when you talk about a subject. I get that it’s the cool thing to be negative about irrelevant things, but cmon be sensible

At the end of the day, it’s another 3 million in the bank and getting pounds on the board is the most important thing at this stage in the season

I know some people are disappointed with the negotiation performance in the first few sales but I think we will push on from here and sell the likes of Hughes and Sarr for much improved sums

Keep the faith Watford Association Football Club Limited fans

Is it possible to be a happy clapper without being a COG? Or vice versa?

I'm still unclear where head wobblers fit into the picture.

The fans were pretty adamant after the game. People were going really overboard on it. I did think it was a little harsh. I do remember thinking at the time 'I bet that guy could score a Thierry Henry style hatrick against Bayern Munich given half a chance'

1878 posts on a player who played less than a half of football for us, and not a single competitive game. at least 400 of the last 800 have been arguments.

Yeah because Stevenson was a Belgian-U23 international rather than someone released from Charlton's youth team so it is completely comparable.

I have seen 180+ minutes of Stevenson, and read Charlton fans' comments on him which accord with what my thoughts are.

You have also taken part of what I said and not the full comment: "I have watched two games of Stevenson and he looks nowhere near good enough for the championship. He may be a late bloomer and have a career after working his way up, but I'd be surprised if he has an impact with us."

I’m sorry - you think borrowing externally against all our assets and revenue streams and after that then being relegated and losing all matchday income makes us stable? Have you even read the accounts to form an opinion or are you just making up stuff like you do on Twitter?

There were quite a few stories over a week ago that we rejected €13m for Suarez from Marseille.

If true, it would suggest we had put a premium on any deal with them due to the Gueye saga.

Now we are seemingly happy to sell to a different club for significantly less and with one week less in the window to potentially use any of the funds generated.

Not sure how it’s a hypothesis when the club have issued the accounts. They are there in black and white?

In which case, I might remortgage my house to free up some capital and when the bank come calling, tell them it’s just a hypothesis that I owe them?

I'm all for a good sell on fee but 50% is detrimental. Granada won't sell and he'd just run down his contract and we get nothing. Would have to be a monster offer for them to sell.

That said, I think all Spanish players have a minimum fee release clause. So... Whatever that is.
