I didn’t think any of us were totally aware of the exact state of the accounts or the extent that we were serious debt especially when compared to other clubs. Was on this basis that I saw it as a hypothesis rather than statement of fact. It’s possible that I’ve missed something about the accounts in which case apologies.

 

In the meantime, Gino and Daddy Pozzo, wait for the Chinese owner of Granada to panic and buy the club back at a rock bottom price.....

so 'the clap' is colloquial slang for gonorrhea i believe. in the medical community a happy clapper is actually discussed commonly as a symptomless gonorrhea sufferer. alternatively it might also be a gonorrhea sufferer who is just of a happy disposition.

This had crossed my mind. Say they want €30m for him next summer. Their asking price would have to be €60m and nobody would pay up. The Pozzos will be aware of this and there are probably some details we aren't aware of.

That's one season. They are not a big club. We reached a cup final and were knocking on the door of Europe for most of that season does that mean we were a big club? The fact is it appears that only one club seems to have made an acceptable bid out of all those who have scouted him. I would also point out that scouting him means they are looking to see if he would be good enough and nobody else thought he was

 

Why does it matter if they are a big club? They are a currently successful club. That’s more important in this context.

I’m still can’t believe we have people framing this as a good deal. You can be on the positive side of the fence whilst recognising this is a crap deal. It’s not one or the other.

How do you know this? If we sold him for £3m, that would mean that clubs were paying over £1m in loan fees.

Zulte Warage only spent £550k on purchases the year they loaned him.
Willem II spent £130k on players the year they loaned him.
Antwerp spent just over a million on four players the year they loaned him.

Are we really expected to believe these three clubs burnt such a substantial chunk of their whole transfer budget on Obbi Oulare on loan?
