So here it is again - the ding dong London (ish) Derby with our long standing foes up the road QPR. I love this match up as it used to be a good local rivalry - I still remember QPR coming to a pre-season friendly back in the days of Roy Wegerle and not only they schooled us on the pitch 4-1 but pretty much took over the Vic End too. Recent times haven't been kind to our visitors as they became the first team to fully blow up in the FFP era. Some of those contracts handed out in 2012 and 13 are eye watering now! The puzzling transfer of Chris Samba too would make even Mogi Bayat turn away in fright. He signed on deadline day for 13 million, got flogged in July for 9 million when they were relegated (back to the original club) then flipped to a third club on deadline day in August. Nothing dodgy there at all 'Arry.... The current QPR team is much more reliant on youth. New Head Coach Micheal Beale was appointed in the Summer in his first Head Coach role after being Gerrards assistant at Rangers and Villa. Stand out players are Elias Chair (I wish we signed him), Seny Dieng (he scores goals, he's the goalie) and midfield string puller Chris Willock. Ethan Laird is also signed up for the season after Watford apparently forgot to check their emails two weeks ago... Team news for Watford: Our two new strikers are bobbins, one can't run without falling over. The other can run but can't shoot. It's so laughable if it wasn't the fact it's our own team we are laughing at. Hopes that Sarr, Pedro, Davis - hell anyone can step in to replace the two clowns we currently have as our striking options. Luther, fancy a game after your book signing in the club shop Saturday? Either way it seems we are pinning our hopes until Louza returns on young Asprilla for most of our creativity. I really hope we don't burn him out before we even get out to Autumn. QPR form: With only 1 win so far against a good Boro side the form reads grim for our visitors who sit 17th currently. A draw and a loss at home to both Blackpool and Rotherham isn't the greatest form to bring to us Saturday. You all know how we usually play against out of form teams though so hopefully Rob won't let old habits into our play come 3pm. Head to head: Recent matches: Neither team has pulled off a home and away double since our promotion season in 2006. This result still annoys me now. Absolutely diabolical last 10 minutes. Played for both and were good and not shyte: Dennis Bailey Heidur Helguson Danny Shittu Tommy Smith David Bardsley Tache Prediction: A bonkers 3-1 Watford win (Cathcart, Sema, Asprilla)
Lloyd would probably do better than our current strikers ! QPR will be hoping Sarr and Pedro don’t play then they will get a point at least .
Among all this transfer madness, it's been reported that JP has a minor tear to his calf and will be out for a few weeks, don't know about Sarr, clearly his injury (some people might say 'injury'!) isn't as serious so hopefully he's able to play!
Lloyd Doyley or Lloyd forum member? Let's be honest stick them both up top Saturday instead of the Chuckle Brothers.
Forgot about Kebab Boy! Good write up Tony! I can't see where the next goal will come from with our strikers, possibly Sema? Think it'll be 0-0.
We feel your pain. Great preview Tony. QPR have generally been a solid win for us over the past seasons - although last time that late winner was a hard to take. I remember watching us beat them 3-0 at the Vic in 2000 with two, yes two headed goals both from corners. One of them was Neil Cox cannot remember the other one. Going to be a tough game with Tweedle Dee and Dumb up top for us to "mis"-hit the goals in. Surely, surely they have to come good at some point.... right? We are currently averaging less than a goal per game (obviously) - so it would be great to score at least two for a change. Oh, and I still have my "I Was There" T-shirt from that Doyley goal. His one and only goal for us - but he was a good servant to the club and always a fan fave. I think we can just about keep our unbeaten run going and our 100% winning home form. Edwards must of had a few words to say last night and I hope they put in a much better display on Saturday (the 7 or so who will be in the starting line up). I'll stick my neck out and say we will win and our strikers come good for once. Watford 2 QPR 0
Hopefully Sarr fit for this . Pedro reported to be out for 2 weeks . wouldn’t mind seeing a 433 rather than shoehorning players into a 352 .
First league loss incoming. 3-0 I reckon. And that comes from someone sitting rock bottom in the prediction league, so you've wasted your time reading this
I was there. I remember the confusion after their goal didn’t go in that half our fans didn’t realise Young had curled a goal in at the other end. And our winner was a bizarre OG from George Santos if my memory serves. What a day. As for Saturday, an easy win that puts us top as most of our fans continue to declare us destined for lower mid table at best.
Ahhh memories. I totally missed the fact we scored, I was too busy calling Paul Furlong a wan*er as he was celebrating his non-goal in front of us.....
Bachmann Kabasele Sierralta Cathcart Gaspar Kayembe Choudhury Kamara Asprilla Manaj Sema Okoye, WTE, Pollock, Gosling, Hungbo, Forde, Bayo Watford 0 - 2 QPR 'Orns!
As long as their tricky winger Mark Lazarus doesn’t play and Rob gets a positive reaction to Tuesday’s debacle, I’m confident of a huge win with our new strike force finally gelling. 1-0 (og)
I remember Boothroyd half joking but half serius saying he’d done his research and knew the pitch had that much bounce in it, or words to those effect.
Not sure on who plays but kind of hoping at least will be in for Chuckle 1. Hause not match fit yet either? Sema on the left, I couldn't be arsed to swap it over.
