Fan Forum: https://www.pne-online.net/forum/index.php?categories/preston-north-end-forums.3392188/ After probably getting less than we deserved at Birmingham after a dominant display we hit the road again for our first 3pm kick off of the season at Preston. A ground where had failed to win before - but ended that duct two seasons ago with a 2-1 victory. Let's take a look at Preston in the form of an image. Yes it's a good meme, but it's ironically well spoken for Preston's season so far. Four played, six points and not a single goal conceded so far. Have to give them credit for that, but the downside to that is three of those games have been 0-0 bore fests. But, they are still picking up points. Nicknamed the Lilywhites, or PNE, or just "Preston", they look like a Leeds United side with much more tolerable fans. Decent and well know ground of Deepdale, with at least one known famous fan in stat head Mark "Lawro" ( who also used to play for them). I have to be honest, I really know nothing about their side apart from their good start to the season, and there is a channel on YouTube by BenHD who is a massive Preston fan. Having only made the playoffs a few times and never really looked in danger of relegation, Preston are a staple of a well run midtable Championship club with good local support who play a nice brand of football. For us, it's going to be a tough affair. Our away form needs to be half decent to match a hopefully very strong home form, but we still have question marks over two of our main players in Pedro and Sarr. With Dennis pulling up trees in Nottingham and Quina off to places overseas, we have shed yet more of our fragile playing staff. What we do have though, is some very exciting prospects in Asprilla, Choudry "the hair" from Leicester and a good performance from Manaj last time out we do have players who can be a threat. Sema, for all the slack he gets is actually a half-decent player at this level and did well at Brum on Tuesday. Bachmann (who had no chance with their goal) had a mixed performance but we hope he can get back to his best for our trip north. Nobody can really say Edwards has had a poor start - eight points from four games is a decent start, but we will have to find a way through Preston's rear guard first. It will be a tricky game, both sides will want to maintain their unbeaten start. In that sense, I am going for a nil nil. Preston like them, and we hopefully grab a clean sheet on our travels. Prediction: Preston 0 Watford 0
I’ve actually had a full 180/540/900 new age maturity volte face on that incident since it happened - at the time it obviously just seemed hilarious and embarrassing from him, but now I understand and sympathise with his position way, way more and am almost certain that entire interaction wouldn’t be allowed to be played out on tv the way it was back then. I think someone could write a thesis on the changing mores involved and what they tell us - fascinating stuff.
On the injury front, Cleverley's out for a couple of weeks with a calf strain and Sarr's training again and will be monitored for Saturday.
Bachmann Kabasele Sierralta Cathcart Gaspar Choudhury Kayembe Kamara Asprilla Manaj Sema Okoye, Ngakia, Pollock, Gosling, Hungbo, Bayo, Davis. Preston 1 - 1 Watford 'Orns!
Preston have started the season with 3 0-0 draws and a 1-0 win. On the road we aren't particularly good. This one won't be much of a spectacle. 0-1. COYH.
I got the other bits, but I didn’t get why choosing a different opposition was relevant/funny. Feel free to dissect the frog.
In 4 games Preston have scored 1 goal and conceded none. 3 draws out of 4 games. Watford have conceded 2 and scored just 1 a game. Both are unbeaten. Hmmm. Is there any possibility of a low-scoring match? Before anybody else says it: Cue 5 - 0.
Well it’ll be impressive if it still works this week now, but it is mildly amusing when opposition fans log on then go back to their own forum screeching about how thick we are because of these ‘mistakes’. Will be truly incredible if it still comes off. Of course, beware the double and triple bluff….
Anyway, back onto the game and personally, watching Sierralta go all MMA on some of the divisions biggest hard men / **** heads, has been great to watch. Ashley Barnes was by far the best so far. Next up, David Nugent!
It's going to be a tight game, Preston have a decent squad. What will likely occur: Bayo fluffing a decent chance Asprilla sporting yellow arm sweatbands (very 80s) Choudhury yellow card.
Ages since I’ve been so can’t help with that. They used to have the national football museum attached to the stadium. That was good for a look but has moved to Manchester now. They have a nice looking bus station though. That sort of makes up for it.
No offence Jon, but does the G stand for 'gullible'? Or was a risible attempt at humour? A PNE for your thoughts...
Wouldn’t be surprised at 0-0 which would still be a good start with QPR at home next up which looks very winnable.
Great, so a can of Stella and a Ginters pastie in the car before the game. Wont be the first time....or the last.
