    Two draws.
    1 goal conceded.
    Playing like a team again.
Would have won if not for the outrageous penalty decision.

we still have our long term defensive problems and underperforming players, some aren’t good enough. But, but, 1-1 away at spurs in any season is a good result.

before the season we would have accepted a score draw away at spurs as a very good result. We have 3/4 of the season left. Let’s write off everything before sheff Utd. If we are to stay up it’s about plenty of draws, keeping it tight at the back, sneaking the odd win against lower level teams, that’s the road to 40 points

I’m more confident the pozzos will sign some defence in jan and we have bright young talent up front to come in as well

last two results have been largely defensively sound.

it’s a good start for qsf given what he started with For those demanding we beat spurs away. It isn’t happening. In these type of games even if you take all your chances the ref will conspire against you.

We need retired refs to do VAR, not refs whose decisions might be overturned the following week.

Their controversial goal in my eyes was a goal no handball. Not sure what the **** was happening g with var.

We should have had a penalty. Sliding tackle that made contact with our player who was a few feet from Scoring

The issue is that the VAR mandate is to only change a decision if a referee made a clear and obvious mistake. If there is any room for argument, they're not supposed to overturn the referee's decision.

This is the problem. If the VAR ref's mandate was just to review the footage and make a clear and correct call based on the footage, most of the problems we've seen this season would be null and void (assuming the official was remotely competent).

The problem isn't the tech, it's the ridiculous "clear and obvious mistake" aspect of it. The notion that VAR can't reduce errors and only introduces opportunity for new mistakes is demonstrably false. Other sports have been using it for years and it works. The football authorities simply insist on using a stupid implementation of it.

Their goal was entirely Foster's fault.

VAR aside there is no way the ref should have not given the Pen. You don’t need VAR to see that was a penalty, it was so,obvious

If that's true then someone needs to be fired.

Not because the mistake was made, but because they refused to correct it afterwards when there was ample time before the kickoff. Yeah, it might have looked stupid, but they look stupid anyway so what's the sodding difference? Might at well get it right so people have confidence in the system getting it correct in the event of a miscommunication.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this was true, match commentators on my river said clearly no goal and were fairly shocked by the decision. The big screen flashed up no- goal must have come from somewhere

Why did it work so well in the World Cup? Why does it work so much better in Europe? Different group of international officials maybe?

Our lot would seem to be an arrogant bunch of t.ssers who just can't abide having their decisions questioned. And the stupid thing is that everybody can see this which just brings them further into disrepute.

Refuse selection then, take a break. Mental well-being is one of the most sensitively handled issues in the country right now, they even forgave Tom Lawrence for drink driving due to his “mental health” so I’m not having it that it’s the clubs fault Femenia is still playing.

They've been using it for a few seasons in Europe, plus the referees will go and look at it themselves if VAR think he got it wrong. That way may be more time consuming but it's saves face for the referee.

Didn't they have screens at the side of the pitch so the referee could go over to review the decision themselves? Seemed to work a bit better.

Yes. Why should that be necessary though? It's gone to VAR. Let them make the decision.

This is very true. I watched VVV Venlo playing someone last season in Holland and the ref gave a red card as he saw it. Went and watched the video screen, reduced it to a yellow and had to go and get the player back out the changing room. No one really complained as he gave it as he saw it, reviewed it and changed his decision.

  23. This season is just a non stop balls deep rogering by **** referees, **** VAR, **** recruitment, and a **** decision to keep the gurning fool in a job over the summer.

I'm a bit tired of this. We are better than having 4 points and being adrift at the bottom of the table, our luck just refuses to turn.

Qsf is having an effect and has us looking like a unit again, we are creating quality chances and the opposition are not getting many quality chances of their own. This is the base that you win football games with.

Foster has to be dropped, as does kiko. These two are too often culpable to remain in the team and we are being let down by individual idiocy too often.

We needed those 3 points no question, but the positives are adding up now and if we fan keep this level of performances up we are bound to actually finish a few of our chances and move up the table.

I was at the game, so I’ve only just seen the replays of the various incidents.
The foul on Deulofeu was a definite penalty and is exactly the sort of decision which should be overturned by VAR. The Alli goal handball is debatable whether it hit the shoulder or upper arm and I have no problem with the decision being given either way. VAR should not overturn it. The thing with the scoreboard: I’m sure this was down to some numpty pressing the wrong button, but I would really like someone to find out whether this was at the stadium or at VAR central. If it’s controlled by the latter, why do we never see these messages on our screens at Vicarage Road?
Finally, to those criticising Femenia and/or Foster for the goal: remember also the several chances in the second half to go 2-0 up. The players who missed, or didn’t make the most of those chances are equally culpable for Watford not winning the game. Despite Spurs’ dominance of possession, we had much the better chances to score today.
All in all, however, I’m delighted with both the point and the performance.

It's done from Stockley Park. And we've had them at Vicarage Road. There's a difference though between 'soft' checks and full reviews. Only the latter should cause a video screen message to be displayed.

Why don’t the EPL do the rugby TMO (TV match official) technique? It works well.

Ref refers a decision to TMO.
Ref asks questions about the relevant passage of play.
TV camera in TMO studio shows all angles being replayed.
TMO gives opinions and they discuss.
    Ref confirms and agrees decision.
Ref calls captains and relevant players to him and explains decision and switches on mic to stadium speakers so the crowd simultaneously know wtf is going on.
    Play continues.

We’ve definitely had some ‘full reviews’ where nothing has appeared on the screen.
I don’t believe the ref gave the Spurs goal erroneously today without it being corrected, so the numpty who put the wrong message up must have been at Stockley Park.

    A better performance and result.
Foster was at fault for the goal. No need for VAR. He failed to gather the ball. Ok, Kiko failed to get out of his way, but Foster had already lost control of the ball by the time he had collided with Kiko.
One point gained, though still adrift at the bottom.

There might be circumstances that that might implythe referee got the decision wrong, which we obviously don't want. It might embarrass the poor referees which would be horrible:(

The only clear and obvious error was me assuming VAR would level the playing field in the EPL and cut out big 6 bias.
Can you imagine what the decision would have been if one of our players put that tackle in on say Moura in our penalty area?
