Draw for Southampton then..least they didn't win. If only we could win Saturday. They have Bournemouth next whose fans would love to send them down !!
Well all 3 were away with the transfer planning fairies but fortunately Soton were useless....they need 2 wins and 2 draws now to overtake us if we don't get another point.
Well at least Southampton didn't win the game in hand. They can now get a max of 41 points, and Stoke a max of 40. Whilst I still reckon cut off will be 34-36, depending on results over the weekend a win on Saturday may make our safety mathematically certain
Tell me about it....I'm just waiting for hornetboy to come out and say its 50/50 as to whether we will stay up!
How would you know, seeing as you apparently didn't read the post? I did add some pictures especially for you though, so maybe you got it from that?
I didn't look at the pictures either, I'm just extrapolating from your general demeanour. Plus, you didn't reject my assertion, which I believe further supports my point
On Betfair we're 160-1 to be relegated, (if anyone wants their Championship ST's paid for next season).
No, based on your foolish output - including your fecklessly eager season review thread, which I did not read the contents of.
How do you know it was foolish if you didn't read it? That's quite a strange assessment. You've had a bit of a mare. You've tried to have a go, but it badly backfired on you. Accept it, move on and I wish you well with your future attacks.
I think people that use the argument of 'Southampton have only won 5 games, they are not going to win again', don't really understand football. When a team gets to the point of "must win", they can respond. Look at West Brom. They'd won only 3 all season, but travelled to Old Trafford last week and won!!. Look at Leicester a few years ago. They were rooted to the foot of the table, in a hopeless situation, but went on to win 9 of their last 11 games. Just imagine if Southampton had won at Leicester last night. Small margins, but we'd be only 6 points from the bottom three, with 4 games remaining. That's a bit too close to be comfortable. But luckily for us, they only drew. We are 8 points clear, with 4 games to go. Of course Stoke or Southampton or even both, may go on good runs, but if they do, it would mean Swansea would have lost to both these sides. Brighton also have a very difficult run, although they only need 1 point to go above us on GD, it's going to be hard for them to pick up another point. Of course we can do ourselves a favour by beating Palace. Even a draw would be acceptable as it stops them from overtaking us, and would give us another point of course. I don't think we'll go down as the permutations and likelihoods are positive for us, but while there is a mathematical possibility, no one should be smug or conceited about it.
This I agree with, and it's obvious that Southampton have improved rapidly the last few weeks. I ran one of those "score predictors" and was not overly generous. With one game to go, (Man U away), the table could very well look like this: 15: Huddesfield 38 points 16: Swansea 38 points 17: Watford 37 points 18: Southampton 35 points If we don't pick up any points in the last 4 games then IMO we're bang in trouble. I'm not usually one for give 2 hoots with so many teams below us, but with these to**ers on the field I'm going to have myself £10 worth of that 160-1.
Why not? The forum is for everyone to write what they like, as long as it's not offensive. Thankfully is place is not policed by you, nor operates to your ideals.
Both Stoke and Soton have winnable games as their next match. They really need to win to keep hopes alive. If not they may be effectively down by the time they play Swansea. I expect there to be a final twist and wouldn't rule out one of them escaping given previous seasons shocks. Don't think that twist will include us though as Stoke need 3 wins and a draw from 4 due to their GD, and Soton need 2 wins and 2 draws to catch us if we don't pick up another point.
I agree with most of that. But Watford gave needed to win one of their last 3 games to be safe. And we haven’t. So it kinda debunks your first paragraph.
For what it’s worth, I really don’t see Southampton or Stoke putting the results together that are required to stay up.
It's not debunked, just because Watford couldn't do it. We have never been at the "must win" point. We're still at that "it would be nice to win and get over the line, but if not, we still have another chance next week" point. I'm not saying Southampton, or Stoke will put a run together, but they might respond successfully to their situation. I think Southampton are best equipped to do this. They have a good squad and any given day they could win. I saw them against Chelsea and Arsenal. They were unlucky at Leicester last night by all accounts. They've definitely improved their performance level recently, although they've not had the results to show for it yet. Not so sure about Stoke. Their manager isn't all that impressive nor is their team.
Sure, but I also look forward to not reading your review of The Sixth Sense: "It seemed quite spooky, I liked that bit with the tent, but it was also a bit boring. I really needed to take a dump towards the end though so had to leave the cinema with 15 minutes left. I'm guessing Hayley Joel Osment is a ghost?"
I totally agree with you on this one HB, I know it is unlikely but by no means impossible that we could still be relegated if we do not pick up any more points, and us not picking up any more points is a distinct possibility on our current run of form. Having said that one win will almost certainly see us home.
Lose tomorrow and we're down. Can't keep wearing moccasins on a glass mountain and hoping for others to be wearing socks or ice skates. Need to wear crampons or running spikes, or maybe suction cup things.
Some nice words from Doucoure here. "Watford have the best fans I've ever known.” I hope he's wrong about the team treating this game like a cup final though. We always choke in those. https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/first-team/doucoure-its-final-us
